Mad Props for the Mad Dog. If only he hadn't won that World Series with the Braves, he might go into the Hall of Fame with Cubbie blue on his noggin. Oh well. Just when we needed this guy to come through, he's been dynamite. AWESOME.

I think it normal. The rehab is designed to rebuild the arm. It sounds like they're hopeful that he'll continue to regain his stuff. All pitchers lose a little as they grow older. Wood will be no different. Hopefully he will realize he can't rely on a super-snappy breaking ball and lightning fastball forever and learn how to change speeds, locate, out-guess the hitter, etc. You know, pitch.

I think Woody is going to be in 2003 form (if not better) when he returns. Well, I hope he comes back strong too. I just won't believe he's really back until I see him making regular starts, that's all. I think that's reasonable considering the injury history. But I do hope all is well.

So basically we need that Milwaukee win to put Washington in play, right? Then it's hope for a Pacers loss to Orlando. Not sure if that will happen---Orlando has nothing to play for.

If Bonds wants to relieve the unbearable scrutiny, then RETIRE. All he's doing is padding stats that were acheived by using roids anyway. What a charade----people are supposed to just sit by quietly? Don't think so. If you want out of the circus, then take off the clown suit.

Or MLB.TV. I love it. I get to watch whatever games I want to. Well, except Giants and A's games because they are blacked out locally. And the Sunday night game of the week. But other than that I get to watch anything. Ordered that 2 years back. Almost every Cub game was blacked out.....in MILWAUKEE. Called, wrote emails. Got the same response: basically, too bad so sad. I cancelled. I'll never go back. Glad it works great for you though.

I started to post that I was more concerned about Ramirez's slow start because I figured it'd have more meaningful effect on winning and losing, but I got distracted yesterday. There are probably two reasons people aren't all over Aramis. 1) We have established experience with what he's capable of doing, and he started off even slower last year. 2) he's not a new, one-dimensional hitter coming off a down year. Nevertheless, Aramis is more important to this team than Pierre is, and if he keeps struggling (and right now it appears he won't) the team will have problems as soon as guys who are red hot come down to earth. I think Ramirez will break out of it as he usually starts slow plus I think he is a warm weather hitter. Recent games would tend to support your position. Also---I'm not the biggest Pierre fan but he did just have a pretty good game so let's give him some more time. Overall, the glaring deficiency is the lack of Prior & Wood. This isn't a suprise to anyone. To me the team is performing slightly better than I thought they would to this point. The Cardinals sweep really helped. I watched the Dodgers last night, and there's no reason we can't do some damage out there as well.

Bulls do not hold the tie breaker with anyone but the Wizards, and they're probably the strongest team of the 4---plus they have a 1 game advantage on us. I would be shocked if we make the 6 seed. I've been wrong about this team alot this year though. They'll need to win out and get some help.

Dusty's new found popularity will disappear pretty quick if he keeps having to trot Rusch out there. We need a better option from the minors. I don't even want Rusch coming out of our bullpen. He did this with Milwaukee, too. Had a couple decent years, then POOF! 1 and 13. This is Rusch's 1-13 season with the Cubs. Let's cut it off now, save ourselves the horror of watching him blow game after game after game. -

Sounds more like the first indication of why this isn't a playoff team. Correction: the first indication was probably watching Rusch get beaten into the ground because Prior and/or Wood are on the DL.

This team is now officially one of the most difficult to figure out. They drop a game to Philly, basically not even showing up in a critical game down the stretch to an opponent that is less than stellar. They missed open shot after open shot. Basically the 76ers handed the game to the Bulls on a platter by playing no defense and the Bulls just turned up their nose. Then they come back and beat a team coming off a 14 game win streak. Other than some late 4th quarter heroics by Carter, the Bulls basically put it away down the stretch. So what happens now? Do they lose to the Hawks, another team they should beat? I honestly don't know. It's pretty exciting to watch, so I'm definitely glad they hung around the playoff race instead of packing it in a month ago, which they could easily have done.

He got kicked in the teeth early, but never let it get to him. It was impressive to see him hold it together when most pitchers would have freaked out. Nice job.

I loved how week 1 unfolded. The Sunday night game especially :) Although it kind of irked me how Miller & Morgan kept talking about how we are scoring all our runs on HRs, as if that's a bad thing. They totally missed the point that last year, we didn't have any runners on base when we hit our homers. And so far this year, our homers are coming with a goodly number of extra runs attached to them. That's what OBP and timely hitting will do for you. But again, that point was totally lost on the Sunday night crew. Disappointing---I expect that much from Morgan, but not Miller.

Others have already said it, I may as well throw my hat into the same ring. For now, Rolen is the better player. But I'd take ARAM because he's younger---more of his future is ahead of him. They are both good players. I don't think either team can complain.

A win against NJ would be great, but I wouldn't call it a must-win game. It'll be difficult to win tonight without Deng in the lineup anyway. Oh, Deng is definitely out? NJ is coming off a big win streak too I think. It's very likely a loss.

Not much chance of that happening. Since when did this team become a better road club than home, btw? That's disturbing.

I want the 6th seed. Is that too much to ask for? If you watched any part of Saturday's game, yes it is. Looks like there are 3 playoff positions available, and 4 teams fighting for them. After Saturday's debacle, I'm wondering whether the Bulls will be the team left out. That was a terribly poor showing.

I'm impressed somewhat, even if we lose. This was the game we were supposed to get crushed. Didn't happen. We are hanging in there.
