  1. He's been watching his teams do this for years & years. I somehow don't think he's getting the message :?
  2. He's struck out NINE!!!!!!! It's not about the strikeout. He's pitched poorly overall. I don't buy that this was a "quality start." He made some poor decisions on the mound and allowed himself to be beaten by their few good hitters (namely Cabrera). Like Meat&Potatoes with Ronnie, I call out your anti-Z bias! It's a quality start. 6 innings, 3 earned runs. I'll take it everytime. So you're okay with Z consistetnly with a 4.5 ERA? I'm not, not from him. Not consistently, but the offense has to pitch in a little too. I'm watching this Vargas kid and it's not the greatest stuff. We just aren't getting it done plate side. I'd like a better start from Zambrano, but let's not call it a disaster.
  3. oooooHHHHHHhhh. Hendry lays down DA LAW on Prior & Wood?
  4. He's struck out NINE!!!!!!! Doesn't matter when you consistently walk batters and give up crucial hits. If he Ks 15 and gives up 3 in 5 it's still not good enough. Come on though, man. Other teams give up 3 runs and baseball tonight is praising their solid pitching. Z gives up 3 and he's terrible? That's not right.
  5. I don't think she is anything special. But you wouldn't, you know......kick her out or anything 8)
  6. Well Z's losing it. Bulls doing any better?
  7. Not sure why this happens to us. We need to start beating teams lower in the standings. It's a killer.
  8. I don't know what's worse, the constant Bartman pieces, or the "QB Carousel" graphic that has become mandatory whenever the Bears are on TV. GIVE IT A REST, huh>?
  9. Oh God they're going to do *another* Bartman piece :x
  10. A nobody who was sporting a 6+ ERA coming into tonight. I'm sure other ballclubs get shut down by these types of pitchers. Just seems like we can't hit the newbs.
  11. I don't think I'd want to meet Z in a dark alley tonight :)
  12. XZero didn't throw a personal insult my way out of the blue, hawk. You did. Anyway, I'm done with this. I'm sorry you don't like me. I do make positive posts-----sorry you won't acknowledge them.
  13. 3-0 but who's counting? One of the announcers (not sure who it was) said that Maddux was 4-1. That's why I said 4-0. Oh, I'm watching the local broadcast. ESPN doesn't know what's going on. They must not watch baseball tonight :P
  14. Z's got his good stuff now (looks like it anyway). Got to get back those damn runs.
  15. Good slider there. Damn I hate to see us give up an early lead.
  16. Dempster's always a great interview :)
  17. So now we have "mr. genius, tough guy and keep drinking the kool-aid man". No you never insult other posters. There's a difference between saying someone's idea is absurd then saying why it's absurd (which I did) and telling someone to "keep drinking the kool-aid" and calling them "mr. genius and tough guy" (which you did.) XZero77 noticed the same thing and said the same. I'm not the only one who sees it. I'm not going to go back and discern the genesis of this burgeoning flame war. I am, however, asking all of you to keep it civil and refrain from personal insults, calling people out, name-calling, and over-generalizing with intent. Thank you for your cooperation. Sorry for the flamewar.
  18. Yeah that makes sense. Even if they did that, you'd complain when he came back and got injured because he hadn't thrown that many pitches. Or complain when he wasn't effective. Or complain that he was on a pitch count. Yes, because everything's wonderful. Nothing to complain about here! Keep drinking that koolade man. What in the world are you talking about? When did I once say anything was wonderful or there was nothing to complain about? Secondly, did you come up with that kool-aid line on your own? I've never heard that one before. Nice orignality. By the way if you want to use it, you may want to learn how to actually spell the word. Finally don't accuse me of "drinking the kool-aid" simply because I don't agree with your insane idea that doesn't have the slightest bit of logic. "He can throw a ball, so obviously he should be able to start a major league game already." Brilliant! It's a hell of a lot more brilliant than letting them rot on the D/L forever while getting nothing out of them and watching them continue to suffer setback after setback. You got a better idea, Mr. genious? Let's hear it. The current method obviously isn't working, so do you have something constructive to offer to the discussion, or are you just throwing insults because that's the kind of guy you are? Who said he's going to rot on the disabled list (what is the D/L by the way?) this year? If you aren't capable of realizing that just because someone is able to throw 25 pitches, they MAY not be able to throw 100 against major leaguers, then this is pointless. Use some common sense. Secondly, what are you talking about with the insults? Look at your post "Keep drinking the koolade man". What is that? How about calling me "Mr. genious" (nice bit of irony on the spelling of genius by the way). No those aren't insults. I've seen more insults from you than almost any regular poster here. You're constantly negative and insult or throw out the "kool-aid" line when someone disagrees. I was trying to add to the dicussion. Your idea of, "he can throw a ball, make him start" is ridiculous and I can't believe that you aren't able to realize that. Have you ever heard of progressively and gradually bringing a pitcher back? It's a theory that nearly everyone in baseball subscribes to. I know you don't have any patience, but it's required when dealing with a pitcher with injuries. Sending him out for a start just because he can throw a ball will lead to more injuries, in which case you would complain more. LMAO. You attacked me first, tough guy. What did you expect, a pat on the back? I'm sorry I don't run my posts through a spell check. Thank you for the correction, I'll be sure to recommend you for next year's ESPN spelling bee. My original comment, by the way, was meant as a bit of colorful commentary. Not to be taken literally. I think I speak for many when I voice frustration over the fact that our two best pitchers are constantly on the D/L. But hey, I'm not going to stop you from flying off the handle and having a temper tantrum if you want to. If you would like me to spell out the underyling, literal meaning of my post, then here it is: I would like to make sure our pitchers aren't being kept on the shelf needlessly for injuries that aren't serious enough to be contributing factors to the more serious problem----and I suspect that the organization is so gun shy with pitching injuries that this is taking place some of the time right now. I would also like to make sure when we're bringing a pitcher back from injury, they are brought along fast enough to get some real traction in the recovery process. By the way, if you have checked the calendar lately, 2 weeks is May. The Cubs have said they felt Prior might be back in May. I'm sure they meant later in May, but regardless. I wasn't too far off from the Cubs party-line. I'm guessing you just never bothered to look. I seldom insult other posters. If I did, I would be banned. There are mods here who do a very good job----remember? So I can only conclude you just don't like me because I won't put a positive spin on everything as it comes down the pipe. That's just the way I am. When things are good, I say they're good. And when they're bad, I say that too. If you can't handle it, then my best suggestion for you is to simply ignore my posts. Have a nice day.
  19. He's amazing. It's so easy to root for him because it's like he's the perennial underdog. I sure hope this continues, because it's already getting national attention and it's keeping the Cubs afloat. Thanks for the article post, Serena.
  20. He's fleeced us on 4 performances: HIs 20-K game in 1998, his 1-hitter in 2001, and games 1 and 5 vs. the Braves in 2003 Yea his entire 1998, 2001, 2002, and 2003 were just awful. Haha. I would never go that far, Big Z. You might be a little off the reservation on this one.

  22. Pot meet TLR. Indeed. Tony and hypocrisy go way back together.
  23. Acosta died?!?
  24. It's possible. The Bears are in a position to take the best player available, even if it's a WR, CB, LB, or whatever. The salary they'll have to pay won't be a cap-killer and they could benefit greatly from depth at certain positions. The whole "best player available" thing is a farce. Everyone says that's what they will do----few actually do it. Plus it's completely subjective; your 'best player' is different than mine, and so on... The Bears have been loading up on Carolina CBs this offseason. If we sign Manning, I would be shocked if Angelo took yet another, especially considering our dire needs on offense and the fact that we would be drafting and paying a 1st rounder to sit the bench--possibly forever.
