  1. No. We've won the series against the Cards, but then we'll revert back to suckiness. We can do well against the Cards, but not against crappy teams. Same here. Right now I have the stance of. Wake me up when the Cubs are at .500 and playing .600 baseball and looking hot. Well, ya gotta start somewhere. 4 out of 5 against Central teams is a start. If I had to choose a starting point, it certainly wouldn't be dropping 14 of 17 to destroy the season before Summer even begins.
  2. I don't like to see injuries either. However, it's about time they starting suffering a few problems in St. Louis. It's been far too long they've been living a charmed existence, with every single piece falling perfectly into place just as they need it to.
  3. Haha. Let's stop pretending. You're never leaving. None of us here gets out alive :)
  4. Actually, compared to SF, Dusty has handled the media scrutiny pretty well.
  5. I advise Howry to end this damn thing. Now.
  6. Williamson looked like he was pulled due to injury.
  7. 3 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk. I'm going to have to agree with you. Who would have thought that Novoa and Rusch would combine for 8 innings and 3 runs? Wow My player of the game is Pujols for leaving and denying the Cards of almost all of their power. That's a point. I don't doubt that Pujols would have hit at least 1 HR today had he played. Rolen looking human today as well. Not so easy to hit major league pitching when you have nothing around you in the lineup.
  8. This Cardinals' club is quite different indeed with both Edmonds and Pujols down. They look like.....like................ US.
  9. come on this is the Cardinals Pujols will be back in a couple of days. Yep.
  10. I don't remember Mulder pitching this poorly. Ever. I'm sure he has, but I haven't seen it.
  11. A Chicago team is about to advance to a championship...
  12. time to bust out the ole Cub conversion calculator... ...Cubs say 2 weeks so 2x3+2/2 +20= roughly a month  It was supposed to be June 10th. I don't recall ever hearing anything from the Cubs other than mid-June. June 10th is mid-June, or close enough for me. As long as it doesn't turn out to be July 1st or after the all-star break, I'll cut them enough slack for a few days here & there.

  14. We're gonna blow 7-1 lead. I know it.
  15. Furcal in May: Avg OBP SLG OPS .311 .366 .429 .795 Cedeno in May: Avg OBP SLG OPS .276 .294 .305 .598 Furcal has picked it up considerably, he's hitting fine. To say he can't hit now is just false. Ronny's OBP is atrocious. His OBP/Avg difference is so small because he only walked three times in 105 ABs last month. I know he's young, but he could probably have benefitted from more instruction. Furcal would have been a good ballplayer on this team. Too bad Hendry and he couldn't agree.
  16. Could Dusty be the first manager in history to get an extension right after his club hits the cellar?
  17. Seems like he's trying to imitate Griffey's sweet swing more than make good contact. He's easily fooled. Right now he's doing pretty good. I never booed him. Never. But I would need to see consistent performance before changing my mind about him.
  18. those numbers have declined every year since 2003. he is on pace for career lows in his hitting rate stats. he is also on pace for a career high in strikeouts. he is mediocre, and if he continues playing like this, he is awful. As I said, easy to complain now instead of seeing what happens. Pierre's starting to get his stroke back though. Yes, it's easy to complain now, because he sucks. And it was easy to complain when they got him because he was coming off of a bad year. Since when do you have to wait to the end of the season to complain about a player who is hurting your team right now. Pierre hasn't done a gosh darn thing for the Cubs. I don't care how much he helped Florida in 2003. He's a one dimensional player whose one dimension is to suck right now. He's killing the team. I'd have to agree. Plenty of players pad their stats after the team is out of the race. Their numbers look decent at the end of the season, but where were they when the games still mattered? Nowhere.
  19. Well teams know we're desperate now so pulling off a blockbuster deal is pretty much not going to happen.
  20. Agreed. It's not the price tag. It's the goods.
  21. Well gents nice 2-run homer but in the end it's a loss...
  22. Yes, a nice signing if your sights are on creating a .500 ballclub. World Series champs aim a tad bit higher. If we had a thumper in left and a better run producer in CF, Jones would be perfectly adequate in RF. Too bad we don't. Having said that, there wasn't much else available this past offseason (which wouldn't have been an issue had Hendry signed someone last offseason). Yes, yes. There's never anyone available. That's why we suck. ..........I'm goading you because I know you know better..... Hey, I am blaming Hendry for this mess. But who else was available this last offseason (and I don't want to hear Giles)? Hendry messed up this year's OF last offseason. He messed up alot of things, including the decent minor league situation we used to have.
  23. All things considered I'd rather see Dunn hitting doubles down the line than 3 run bombs.
  24. You: apparently hitting the pipe or bottle a bit. Discuss...... :D Only the bottle atm. :( Can't say I blame you.
