  1. Obviously the people in that poll are morons. As they were when they picked us 1-and-done.
  2. For the record, I hardly think that a poll asking for the worst QB to ever make the Super Bowl proves a national media bias against the Bears. It's already been proven there's a media bias against the Bears. This just adds to it.
  3. I can't decide if he wants to downplay the importance of it (Peyton has never wanted to talk about his injuries when he has had them, of course they've never been serious enough for him to miss a single game in his career) or just a little bit of gamesmanship. I think it's the former, but I can't be sure. I wasn't aware that Peyton told Sorgi to "be ready" until I watched the NFL Replay last night. Since he was able to continue in the AFC Championship, I don't think it's a big deal. He pretty much had to continue in the AFC Championship game. But, all during that time, he kept working the thumb to avoid it tightening/swelling up. It is when you quit working it that it tightens up and causes a problem. But, with nothing showing up on x-ray and 2 weeks to heal, he'll probably be fine. Whether he'll still be fine the first time he gets hit hard is another question. X-Rays don't show much in terms of ligaments and tendons though. I'm going off the fact he continued afterwards, and played well. Things can be done to reduce swelling and pain just for the duration of one game. Honestly, if the Bears can't get some pressure on this guy I think we're in trouble. I do think the Bears offense can do a few things, but that defense will need to at least limit the Colts to a dull roar.
  4. I can't decide if he wants to downplay the importance of it (Peyton has never wanted to talk about his injuries when he has had them, of course they've never been serious enough for him to miss a single game in his career) or just a little bit of gamesmanship. I think it's the former, but I can't be sure. He obviously was able to throw after the injury took place. So I'm like you, just a little confused about it. I don't think he'd be out of line just saying "it's fine."
  5. I realize how selfish this is, but if the DirecTV EI package starts offering a bunch more HD games, I'm probably going to buy it and be very, very happy. Since going HD regular resolution looks terrible to me. I find myself watching games I wouldn't have cared about before, even to the point of only "checking in" on Bulls games, Hawk games, etc. DirecTV has recently added a bunch more HD capacity, so I'm thinking this might very well happen.
  6. I think that analysis is dead on Vance. Lets just hope the ABs stay as promised for Matty. It certainly looks better than last year to me -- barring injuries of course. And I must admit, I've got no line on how good this team will be in the context of the NL, because it just seems like the entire league is in such flux right now. We're coming off a year where a real marginal ballclub won the WS, everyone's jostling to get that little edge up, nobody knows what kind of record the top teams will put up. There's really very little frame of reference to judge how far this Cub team can go.
  7. So Colts fans, why is Peyton refusing to comment on his injured thumb?
  8. The only thing I would say is, KW has this history of signing guys like this and having them become decent contributors. I don't like where Erstad is heading either, though. Look at his numbers lately----he's been real marginal. Is he going to be Anderson's replacement? I suppose he offers a bit of an improvement there, but not much and his career is winding down.
  9. Please good Lord let this happen Sorry Glendon, you're a good guy but it's time for a career change.
  10. Wow, that's pretty strong. You really think Floyd will be that bad? Off the bench? At any rate I don't see Floyd making hay with the fans like Hundley did. He doesn't seem like that kind of guy to me.
  11. I doubt it, especially since Rivera isn't on the same page as Angelo and isn't big on the Cover-2. Why is Lovie the lowest paid coach? Because he's on his first coaching contract, it doesn't necessarily mean the Bears are cheap (they are). The Bears are right up against the cap and have spent big money on all kinds of free agents, from Ogun to Moose to Tait. You're talking ancient history my friend. Bears will pay Lovie. I loved Phillips' comments. Word to other teams: STAY CLEAR, we're not playing that game. Oh, and by the way: I'm sensing almost everyone has forgotten it was Lovie who decided not to talk contract until after the season.
  12. I seriously don't get this. Jones is going to outproduce, be healthier, and make less money than Floyd. Well, if Jones is really still asking to be traded, then it's not in Hendry, or the Cubs, interest to try and keep him around if he doesn't want to be here. I guess if that's the case then it makes sense to me. That would mean Hendry's just trying to honor the guy's request while leaving his ballclub with a ballplayer who is of similar qualities.
  13. The novelty has worn off for me. Oh come on quit being a downer. ssssssuuuuuuuu-per BOWL! suuuuuuuuuuuu-per BOWL! 8-)
  14. They're everywhere, true. Teams pick up guys off the street and they put up numbers. Running back is so dependent on the blocking of the OLine. That's one of the reasons I initially didn't like the Benson pick all that much.
  15. I'd be overjoyed with a 3rd for TJ. Benson can do the job as of right now, and I believe better than TJ. But none of that really matters. I like TJ, always have, but business is business and a 3rd rounder can be viewed as a potential Lance Briggs (who was a 3rd round pick).
  16. A large part of that is simply the variability of pro football. Look at the Bears/Seahawks games and Colts/Patriots games for example. Did the Bears and the Colts really prove they were the better team? They deserve to go and possibly be called champions, definitely. At the same time, both of those games were so close that 1 play changed the outcome of the game entirely-when that's the case with teams, it's hard to say that somebody was really off by picking the other side. Isn't it amazing to think that if just 1 or 2 very small things go differently, this could be say a Chargers-Saints SB? I can tell you one thing, I'm glad that for this year, those things did not go differently :D. I guess the point is, predictions and prognostications are for all intents and purposes completely useless. As for proving you are the better team-----that's not the object of any sport, really. The object is to win the games necessary to become champions, any way you possibly can. By hook or crook, as they say. 8-) I personally feel the Colts and the Bears are both very deserving of being in the Super Bowl.
  17. Selig's a hypocritical chicken. No problem singling out the Cubs, but WHOA WAIT A MINUTE THERE BUDDY! Don't dare mention the Yankees or the Red Sox!! That would be wrong! Give me a freaking break.
  18. Agreed, although i think the decrease in WGN Games has a lot more to do with WGN going to a "network" affiliation and choosing not to broadcast all the Cubs games...someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that's a MLB call. the decrease in WGN games is also all about $$. Lots of games were on CSTV or whatever while WGN played some crap movie from the 80's, not series from a new network. I don't get any of those games on high def anyway. I welcome WGN moving more games off to channels that do offer a HD option, such as Comcast and ESPN.
  19. They can both look forward to careers in featherweight boxing after they wash out of baseball.
  20. CBS Sportline's 2 best forecasters -- Prisco and Davis -- both have Indy. But---Prisco picked the Saints last week and Seattle the week before, so he's an obvious Bear-hater and it's bringing down his record. Davis' picks look fairly solid, but he also had Seattle beating the Bears. He came back and picked us last week though. Harmon's been OK, but he missed on the Pats/Indy pick last week and also missed on the Indy/Bal pick and had Philly over NO. Not all that great. Accuscore also missed the Pats/Indy pick last week, as well as the Ravens/Colts and Chargers/Pats games from the week before. I think it's pretty safe to say Accuscore is 50/50 at best, which means it's useless.
  21. I'd be very happy for a couple hours and then things would be pretty much the same as they were before. Wow, really? For me it would create a before/after point in my life. The BCWWS and ACWWS eras.
  22. Probably not a first rounder, but he might get you a 2nd rounder. I wonder if any team would be interested in Jones and Wale together. Jones and Wale for McNabb! :pint: No thanks. The headaches caused by replacing Grossman with McNabb, McNabb's aging oft-ailing body, and his obscene cap hit, just don't make it a sound investment. I'd rather have picks. QB is not on my list of needs. Grossman will likely re-sign for very reasonable dollars, we already have Griese to backup, and after being completely raped in the press this year and emerging in the Super Bowl, I strongly believe Grossman has what it takes and will improve.
  23. I read that....And it's for the 2006 season... Heh, just reread the job description again. Nice catch. I wonder if it's a misprint. They were all posted on Jan 7th...
  24. That's more to my point. I'm in bars all over San Diego County, and they don't carry the package. Part of that is because the Padres are in this town and almost all of their games are televised locally. In fact, the Padres would be blacked out on MLB EI, therefore it makes even less sense. Outside of baseball markets, I'm not nearly as educated there. But, there is plenty of baseball between TBS, WGN, ESPN and Fox weekends. The cost for a bar to have MLB EI is mammoth in cost. OK, but if nobody's carrying it now there certainly won't be a huge impact if they continue to not carry it.
