  1. If he throws 30-40 curveballs, we might just see a murder on live tv. Is LaRoche really hitting .146? Better not let him beat you LOOGY man
  2. Though trying to clear the fence on every at-bat. Why! He hit that ball well and it would have been out of any other part of the park. I'd rather he just concentrate on making good contact, which it sounds like he did.
  3. Really? I don't know for a fact, but I thought Pie was much faster than pretty much anyone else except Soriano.
  4. You want to bench our 3rd best hitter so far? I'm showing he's now hitting .268! He's a droppin'
  5. The guy can't even throw a strike and they're just going to help him get outs! Izzy must go. DeRosa? Starting to really want to see him in a bench role
  6. WTF first pitch swinging with a guy on 2nd?????
  7. First pitch swinging, looked like (on Gameday). Blah.
  8. Closer to pythag, yes, but I'm seeing a significant number of teams that finished lower than both the April winning % and the pythag, which makes me lean towards saying the pythag at this point just doesn't indicate very much at all. Just look at the Cubs, who finished nearly 100 points lower than their pythag... Thanks for posting those numbers, BTW
  9. Yeah, they probably didn't thinking Benson was the guy and TJ would be fine. I think MT is still on the trading block, right? Sounded like SD resigned him to a deal, but someone was saying that would actually help facilitate a trade.
  10. He's more of a 'burner' than Turner
  11. Yes! Now I can custom-order my Trumaine McBride jersey. You know, at first, I thought those numbers were some sort of ranking of the players' ability. I wasn't even thinking about jersey numbers. I was thinking, man, the scouts really hated Wolfe. Hehe, they actually did 8-)
  12. IMO, that's implied in a thread that asks the question about the Brewers "running away" with the division. Based on 24 games people (including me) are drawing conclusions about the season... Looking at the numbers closely, I can't help but notice that the Cubs have the most upside in the division. I see the Brewers as lucky, to a degree, at this point. Well, if we want to look at things positively from a Cubs standpoint, don't we actually have the best head-to-head in the division against the Crew (it's 3-3 IIRC)? I mean they've been rolling through the Central like it's nothing
  13. Well, after all, we are talking about the Cubs here.
  14. You know, it's amazing. The Bears went to the Super Bowl last year, and rather than having very few picks to work with (which is often the case with successful teams, having traded picks for veteran players), Angelo picked up 9 new players to bring into the mix. I'm sorry, but that's very nicely done. Tops in the NFC and still harvesting a bumper crop of new talent. Now----surely not all of them will work out, but having the picks to bring them in increases the odds. If he hits on, say, 1/3 of those 2nd day picks people will praise him for finding yet another good player in the late rounds. And plus.....there's something to be said for having young, fresh legs on special teams to get down the field quickly.
  15. JMHO, but I think the Pack got completely schooled on the Moss thing. Belichek must have had his ears to the street and waited in the wings until the Pack thought they were the only ones willing to deal for him. Then........SWOOP, 4th round pick, steals him from the Pack for peanuts. Very nice work. Favre'll have crap to throw to again this year, and frankly they're still without much RB help.
  16. Ahhh, but is it the losing that is the anomaly, or is it the pythag? One could just as easily say "if the Cubs continue losing, their pythag will come down"
  17. Would the Packers have enough cap room to be able to keep Moss if he hadn't restructured? That's what I heard was the biggest hangup on the deal-Moss was only willing to re-structure his deal to go to the Patriots, and nobody else had the ability to take on the contract otherwise. BTW, the Packers selected a very interesting prospect there-OT Allen Barbre. I find it incredible that Thompson wouldn't budge on a 5th round pick for Moss. Wasn't Favre basically foaming at the mouth over Moss? Yes, I realize you don't do everything to please Brett Favre, but a 4th round pick? You aren't exactly giving away the family jewels. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Favre should retire or leave. The team obviously wants to move on, they just don't have the stones to come out and say it because of the Favre legend and potential fan reaction.
  18. I'm not upset about it. I just wanted clarification. IMHO if we could have traded Jacque before the draft maybe things would have been different and Hamilton would be wearing Cubbie Blue. Having a talented player with drug issues finally turn things around is in no way comparable to the lottery. Taking a guy in the rule 5 who had failed several attempts at rehab and hadn't played any form of pro ball in years, and had never played above A ball and turning him into an instant major leaguer is akin to winning the lottery, regardless of how talented he is. Well, in that case it's a lottery where the final ping-pong ball hasn't popped into place yet. Rehab is a funny thing.......people think they've kicked the habit and then *boom*, right back in rehab.
  19. I feel comfortable in saying the Crew has a better chance of winning it than the Cubs. They probably have the best shot of any of the teams. If Sheets gets hurt, I'd want to modify that opinion. But right now, I'm looking at the pitching and it seems the Crew has the best staff IMO.
  20. Haha, come on Abe. Chaperons?
  21. LOL, the league is so weird with the awards and all-star invites. How can you have a team that is as good as the Bulls on D and nobody's 1st team all-defense? They've already got major egg on their face for not giving Deng or Gordon the all-star invite. Now this? Pathetic.
  22. Nothing like waking up to baseball. :D Unfortunately, I have to go to school tomorrow, so I'll miss it. :( On the other hand, I have been coughing a ton this week.... It's written in the sky: if you take sick time off, they'll suck and make you wish you hadn't.
  23. Nice to see the Cards implode, but couldn't they at least beat the Brewers and help the Cubs? Wait a minute, am I trying to convince myself that the Cubs actually have a shot at this? Hehe, yeah I'm still hoping the Crew will slow down over the Summer. I hope no one minds a little rain delay hijack of the Cubs thread: Crew take the lead on a Jenkins single. Mench with the sac fly.....4-2 Milw
  24. And a dropped ball by Pujols, Crew could take lead here.
  25. Brew Crew rallying against Loopdeloop. Bad fielding by Cards, Billy Hall ties it up with a double. 2-2
