  1. I'm no mind reader, and neither is anyone else. If you want to talk about 'normal' kicks, not short ones, then fine -- say so. You asked if I recall Hester not getting to kicks, I did and pointed out where, and you agreed but then said I was wrong. That didn't seem logical to me, so I simply asked how it was wrong. I would like to end this. So I am done with it. Have a good evening.
  2. So will Eyre be getting his pink slip, even though none of this affects a lefty pitcher? 'Cuz just getting him off this team might actually offset this other crap. He's that bad.
  3. Let the Yankees eat themselves as they continue down the ramp to suckdom. I care not.
  4. Meh, if they try to kick away from Hester, we counter with a 2-man return formation. It gives us another option if we want to use it. Never a bad thing. Did you ever recall Hester having trouble getting to a ball? If you get kicked away from on the KO it usually goes out of bounds... However the Bears' special teams are always so well executed I'm sure whatever they throw out there will work, I just like the idea of Hester touching the ball as many times as possible. He is the most explosive runner in the league, that includes hype-boy Reggie Bush. There were several times when Hester couldn't get to a ball. Teams kicked away from him quite a bit in the 2nd half of the season. He didn't get to all those. And frankly, I don't want him stretching to get to a ball kicked away from him, then fumbling because of it. If you could be more specific that would be fantastic cause I watched every game last year and can't recall one example. There is just way too much hang time on a Kickoff for someone to not get to a ball, especially someone with 4.3 speed. Re-watch the Super Bowl? After the first kick I don't think Hester was able to cleanly get to many of those kicks. That's the blueprint teams will follow next year. Anyway, what's your problem with adding options in May mini-camp? Wrong. Hester couldn't get to the kicks in the Super Bowl because they were short. Vanderjagt didn't have a super kick that could get the ball past Hester, the only time he tried that Hester took it to the house. 2 returners would not help this situation whatsoever, in fact it would weaken the return because there is one less blocker on a short kick. Also, I said I don't like it, not that I have a problem with it. Let me reiterate what I said earlier, the Bears special teams are an amazing unit and I'm sure they can execute pretty much whatever option they choose. You asked when Hester wasn't able to get to a kick. He wasn't able to in the Super Bowl. You even confirmed it with your own words, as you can see in the bolded text. How is that.....wrong? Are you being serious? Using common sense should have told you when was he able to not get to it on a normal deep kickoff then. Quit wasting my time. Or if you would like to enlighten us on having another deep return man could help the short kick off situation, go ahead. I'm wasting your time? Give me a break. Remind me to never attempt to engage in a rational discussion with you again. We're done here.
  5. AYE! I'd still rather have this than a do-nothing manager like Dusty. But I admit, this is a big-time ummm.....'non-standard' move

  7. I don't know. I was originally thinking they might bring up Marshall, or perhaps try Marmol @ 5th starter for the short-term and use Guzman to shore things up while they decided what to do about Eyre. But that's not it at all. Lou is apparently thinking he can tap into Dempster's past starter experience, but I don't think his arm is conditioned for that any more. Lou's definitely not afraid of taking a big gamble, I'll say that much at least.
  8. Dusty never tried anything. At all. Even when on pace to lose 100 games, he tried nothing.
  9. I wonder if we'll get a definitive closer. I'm just guessing, but Lou might be thinking he can try out a couple guys in that role and go from there. I guess I would want Wuertz or Guzman --- Marmol scares the hell out of me as a closer. He struggles to find the plate too often.
  10. I think it's closer to 100%. I assume he'll be on a pitch count, it's not easy to go from closer to throwing 100 pitches every 5 days.
  11. Guzman for closer? Marmol? Wuertz? Maybe closer by committe then. We'll see how it works out, but I don't think Dempster's looked as good this year as some. I think it's 50/50 he gets raped as a starter.
  12. Dempster just said on Comcast that he will be made starter.

  14. If I was Lou at this point I wouldn't confirm or deny anything anymore. It's obvious many people in Chicago, including the media, can't handle it.
  15. Moving Guzman to AAA turned out the be the right move as he came back better, and it was criticized by several people here. I'd like to see him remain starter, but nobody said this is a permanent move to the pen and nobody knows how it will ultimately work out. As for Miller and Dempster, I have no idea what is happening here and I don't think anyone else does yet, either.

  18. Special thanks go out to Z and Cotts, as we would have just taken the lead there. But no, 2 wins is enough, let's just suck today.
  19. Houston's getting plastered. Looks like the Crew is going to win though.
  20. I'm pretty sure that it was available last season too... It's one of the few styles I don't have. I'll probably pick it up at some point.
  21. What?? He's got a damn good right to be pissed about that series. The Spurs were allowed to be thugs, and the league rewarded them for it. That series was, quite simply, handed to the Spurs by David Stern. There's no other way to describe it.
  22. Spurs in 5 max, mostly likely a sweep. Much as I like the Jazz, there's little question they are out of their league for now.
  23. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/393699,CST-SPT-csep20.article Honestly, I'm hearing so many disparate things about what is really going to happen, I think it's safe to say the media is essentially clueless. This is worse than the cavalcade of false trade rumors we get every year during the winter meetings.
  24. No, he's got to assume a greater role when we relegate Eyre & Howry to cleanup duty, remember? LOL.
  25. Might be time to watch some Jazz/Spurs. 2/3 ain't bad, but again the bullpen just suck balls losing games like this is ridiculous.
