  1. I follow Hall and the Falcons in the south, and while he does have friends on the team(including Vick), the feeling I get is that there are alot of people associated with the org, who wants him gone (ie, Keith Brooking, Blank, etc) I think Hall is destined for the Oakland Raiders, to be honest. His attitude may end up being a major detriment, but talent wise and production wise he's terrific. Ultimately, Football, especially PRO Football, is a business, and you have to act like a professional. Something Hall hasn't a clue in. Talent alone, yeah, 29 NFL teams would have him, but talent should not absolve him on his stupidity. But, pro football is not fair, because guys with more talent are given more chances. DeAngelo Hall is extremely talented and very productive, so more teams will be willing to put up with a bad attitude than they would with a Brandon Stokely, etc. And too, I've seen nothing from Hall that isn't correctable. He's a whiner and sometimes acts stupid on the field - things a good disciplinarian coach with a stable franchise can fix. He's quite reminiscint of Albert Haynesworth in fact - and big Albert is improving thanks to Jeff Fisher's influence. If Hall's transgressions were more like Pacman's, then I'd be more worried.

  3. I won't say that, because Nate Clement takes that title, especially after the contract he signed. And I believe Ashanti Samuels is also a strong candidate (Jerry Reese of the Giants, firmly believes that Ashanti is a "product of the system"). But I will say...Hall is a grossly underachieving CB in the NFL. Is he? In his first three years in the NFL (ages 21-23) he's picked off 12 passes and scored 3 defensive TDs. He's had half a sack and recovered three fumbles. Champ Bailey (easily one of, if not the, top corners in the league) in his first three years (also ages 21-23) he picked off 13 passes and scored 1 defensive TD. He had 1 sack and didn't recover a fumble. Those stats are extremely similar. Hall is still just about to turn 25, so he's really just hitting his prime (for a CB). I'd love to have him on the Titans. I didn't say I believe Jerry Reese, I just saying what he said. And to a certain degree I do believe Samuels will be overrated in 2008. He's prolly better then Clement, but that doesn't mean, I would offer him to same contract. Crap, I think you misunderstood me. I meant to argue about Hall. I'm not up to defending Patriots. :D And those are Hall's stats in comparison to Bailey, by the way. I understood what you're saying, I really do, but given the contract he'll likely ask for, I just don't think he's worth it. I am biased because my Bears locked up two pretty good CBs for decent amount of money. And why would you want to replace one troublemaker (Jones) with another troublemaker (Hall)? At this point, you might as well put Jeff Fisher at CB. He'll definitely cost a ton of money, but for a guy just about to turn 25 who's comparable to one of the greatest (possibly) of all time - Champ Bailey - at the same age, I'd be ok with paying the fee. And he's not close to the troublemaker Pacman is. Pacman likes to make it rain at strip clubs, Hall (from what I know) just whines and occasionally acts stupid on the field. Fisher's a good disciplinarian and - like he did with Haynesworth - I think he could get Hall to behave. I'm not advocating the Titans trade for him, by the way, as I don't think we have a need. Just saying I wouldn't mind if he fell in our laps.
  4. usually cub-killers suck. trot doesn't suck. He's declined each of the last 3 years and was awful last year. He better not hurt us this year, although I'm not sure it can get any worse than Augie having a 1.101 OPS in the playoffs against us last year. I think the Aguie pwnage was easily the most frustrating thing that occurred in my life last year. This is going to sound weird, but I wasn't very surprised by Augie killing us. I might go as far as to say I kind of expected it.
  5. I tend to look at some type of national experience when looking for experience. Hillary, while I think would be a bad president, was first lady for eight years and saw first hand the stresses and difficult decisions Bill had to make. McCain, who I also think will be a poor president, has been in the Senate for quite some time and has experience governing on a national level. It's an interesting question for sure.
  6. And why did you support Romney if that's the case? He's more conservative than McCain, but is definitely not a strong conservative.

  9. He did struggle with drops last year, but the year before he caught 56 passes - good for ninth best among all tight ends. The ones ahead of him? Kellen Winslow, Todd Heap, Tony Gonzalez, Jeremy Shockey, Jason Witten, Randy McMichael and Chris Cooley. Winslow had 32 more catches than Alge and everybody else had less than 20 more. The closest Titan tight end to him in receptions that year was Bo Scaife with 29. By his standards he had a terrible year last year (thanks in large part to the three headed monster of Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich and Chris Redman throwing to him) and still caught just four less passes (42) than Scaife (46) - the Titans leading receiver at tight end. And that's in 14 games. If he duplicated his year from two 2006 (56 catches), he'd have led the team in receptions last year. I couldn't find his drop numbers, but I'll take that from my tight end.
  10. Also, the Titans tagged Haynesworth (as expected). They're currently working out a long term deal apparently - hopefully it gets done soon. Maybe now we can get a pair of reliable hands for Vince to throw to. That's exactly what I'm thinking. I wouldn't expect Alge to be a big play receiver, just a reliable receiver to get open and actually catch the ball when Vince is accurate. Now if we got Roy Williams, I'd be looking for some big plays down the field. =P~
  11. Yes! The Titans are apparently showing interest in Alge! =D> http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080220/SPORTS01/802200457/1002 Also, the Titans tagged Haynesworth (as expected). They're currently working out a long term deal apparently - hopefully it gets done soon.
  12. I know you said free agency, but Chad Johnson is out there trade-wise...but I seriously doubt that Angelo would want to give up the necessary draft picks. EDIT: http://walterfootball.com/free2008WR.php Berrian is ranked 2nd after Moss. I think Chad is most likely staying in Cincinnatti. There have been rumors that he and Steve Smith would be available, but I suspect both will remain. Most likely the best receiver available via trade is Roy Williams.
  13. Who's been going wild about acquiring Willits? I've seen a few "I see no use for him, why make the move?" and a few more "I guess I'd be ok with him, but I'm not crazy." but nothing indicating anybody's particularly excited about the potential move. I think Willits would be an ok move. I like his OBP, but I wouldn't give up anybody worth much of anything to get him. Is that going wild about him?
  14. Interesting. It seems his complaints would have only increased this year since it appears Dimitroff is going full steam ahead with rebuilding. Works for me, now the Titans need to sign Alge. :D
  15. The only two I was surprised about were Coleman and Crumpler, obviously there is no need for Leftwich now, and Gandy is a 37 year old offensive lineman that would probably lose his job to one of the O-Lineman we pick in the draft. We had major problems at DT last year in the 4-3 with Coleman as the only average player playing at DT, now we have to find two good DT's. Crumpler did not play too well this season, part of that was the QB situation, part of that is eroding skills, but was a little disgruntled last year, with the rebuilding that came along, so he probably would have been very disgruntled this year, with a lot of young players around him. The new GM, that is part of the patriots tree, did not want to take that chance I actually was only really surprised by them cutting Alge. Coleman's still a solid DT, but he's getting older and it's pretty clear Dimitroff is set on rebuilding (a good idea). If Alge was disgruntled, though, it makes much more sense.
  16. Falcons cut Alge Crumpler, Byron Leftwich, Wayne Gandy, Rod Coleman and a couple other players today. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3247718 I see no good reason why the Titans shouldn't sign Alge. He is 30(ish), but he's shown he can be a primary target with no other good receiving options and he's used to the style of QB Vince is (considering Vince and Vick are so similar). He'll cost some money, but he'd be well worth it, plus it would free up the first pick for a receiver like Limas Sweed or perhaps a defensive end. Get it done, Reinfeldt.
  17. one could argue that the roosevelts, eisenhower and jfk were marginally qualified to be president, and they're all generally regarded as having been good presidents. a lot of people thought bush would be a bad president because of his views and because his inexperience was largely due to immaturity (early life) and incompetence (middle aged life). It is possible for people to be inexperienced and unqualified, and inexperienced and qualified. Experience is part of what goes into making sure you're qualified for a job. It's not necessary to get hired (or in this case, elected), but it should and does help. Obama may appear qualified to you, but I'm not sure he is - just as I wasn't sure Bush was when he ran the first time. Lack of experience was a legit criticism of Bush when he ran and it's a legit criticism of Obama now. Obviously, though, we won't know for sure until/unless he's elected who was right.
  18. Inexperience is not synonomous with incompetence. The arguments against Bush were not that he was incompetent, but that he was inexperienced. I didn't start hearing the incompetence crap until after he invaded Iraq and Dems got pissed off. The argument was that Gore had more experience on the national level than Bush and, thus, Gore was more qualified for the presidency. Incompetence had little to nothing to do with the debate. The exact same argument many Obama detractors are making today.
  19. Yeah, I was hearing almost non-stop how Bush rode his daddy's coattails to Washington and hadn't done anything to deserve it. He needed to earn a chance for the White House like Al Gore did. At the time, I liked Bush quite a bit (how things have changed) but admitted I was concerned with his lack of experience. Now, the same people who bemoaned Bush's inexperience are saying Obama's inexperience is irrelevant. Just like with Bush, I'm concerned about Obama not having done much of anything at a national level - especially at such a crucial time.
  20. I would have liked the Ravens D cooardinator, Rex Ryan or Singletary more. But, I really wish they would have waited to at least interview Spagnuolo. On a side note, do we have enough people for the mock draft on here. Yeah, Ryan would have been a solid choice too. I really like Singletary, though. Like raw said, he can really coach. And there are 8 teams left to take in the mock draft - plus anyone who wants to join a war room. I just bumped it to the first page.
  21. Come on fellas, we can do better than let this fall to the fourth page. Still need some more...any takers?
  22. I don't know much about Smith, but the Jag defense has been absolutely incredible for years. They've got immense talent, but they're very physical and I like their schemes quit a bit. Hiring Smith may not be a sexy move, but I think it may turn out to be very good. What sucks is that the Jags just turned around and grabbed Greg Williams to replace him. They lost their DC to a HC position and probably still upgraded at the spot. :banghead: Mike Smith's awful, he runs too vanilla of a scheme. Their defense has been stellar the past several years, but that's mostly due to the talent of Henderson, Stroud, Darius, Peterson, etc. combined with a defensive-minded head coach. Williams is a significant upgrade. They're really right on the verge of being the 4th clear powerhouse in the AFC, or the whole league for that matter. Thats a big downer I'm still pretty surprised Atlanta didn't go with Singletary. Rumor was, Arthur Blank really liked him before he hired Petrino, and then was high on him after his interview this offseason. Seems like Singletary would have been a much better choice.

They've certainly had a ton of talent on that defense, but I just kind of assumed Smith had at least a part of their success. You would know better than me, though.

  25. It's actually just rumors I've seen on the internet and heard on the radio, not really anything substantial that Smith would be available. Don't go overboard. It's most likely, in my opinion, that if we upgrade the receiving corps through a trade - it would be for Roy Williams. A first rounder, maybe a third and something else (possibly?) would likely pull him in and the Titans have the depth to make do without two to three picks this year. Smith would actually be the receiver I'd want the least of the three. I'd like to see Vince get a big, possession receiver like Chad or Roy Williams.
