  4. I don't think it's necessary, but it might avoid some confusion. Sure, I'll start a new one.
  5. Ok, I've got the new first round up and going and have placed a note at the top of the first post in the thread. It reads: NOTE: Due to the changes in the first round of the draft, we've chosen to do a second version of the mock draft with the updated draft status. The originally completed four rounds will remain in spoiler tags and the new rounds will be labeled as Mock 2.0. Let's see if we can get a couple rounds knocked out before next Saturday.
  6. Alright then, works for me. We shall begin anew with round 1, but leave up the previous four rounds for the heck of it. I'll get the new round 1 draft order together and I suppose Cro Magnon is on the clock. We'll use goony's recommendation of 6-hour daytime limit (I'd say 8 am to 11 pm) and 12-hour overnight limit. I'll PM Cro Magnon.
  7. We might get the first round in if we did it that way. And I don't think the first round would change dramatically. I think it would. I can already tell you the top pick would change, and from there, any ripple effect is possible. I'd be fine also doing the first round over. Absolutely. The first pick is ridiculous, and many of the follow ups will change depending on how that pick changes. Then you have Denver with 2 picks, and the Bears with none. I say start fresh with Mock 2.0 and give people a 6-hour daytime limit and 12-hour overnight limit. You could get into the 2nd round by the time the draft actually starts, especially since excitement/attention for the draft is increasing. Nobody knows jack squat about the 5th round. I do, but I'm a ridiculous fanatic who isn't comparable to the real world when it comes to the draft. I'm already pondering the Titans' 7th rounder, for instance. I don't have a strong preference either way. I realize that there will be some changes (with a do-over I wouldn't take Ziggy Hood again, for instance), but it may well only amount to a few picks swapping. Again, let's get some feedback and I may really do a poll for it.
  8. We might get the first round in if we did it that way. And I don't think the first round would change dramatically. I think it would. I can already tell you the top pick would change, and from there, any ripple effect is possible. I'd be fine also doing the first round over. Maybe I should start a poll. Let's see if we can get some feedback first while we wait for mhuber.
  9. We might get the first round in if we did it that way. And I don't think the first round would change dramatically.
  10. Alright, I guess we'll move on to a fifth round since pretty much the only responses I've gotten have been positive. If anybody doesn't want to continue on, let me know and I'll divy up your team elsewhere. For now, mhuber and the Seahawks are on the clock to begin the fifth round. I will PM him.
  11. I'll go ahead and ask this round as well - is there interest in a fifth round? I'm all for going on, but if people prefer stopping here and not delving further into the depths of late-round picks, then we will. With a week and a half before the draft, we should have time for a fifth round if the interest is there.
  12. The Titans here will select a short, but fast and strong corner. With only three corners currently on the roster, it's a bit of a necessity to look there in the draft and finally there is a player worth the pick. So, the Titans select CB Captain Munnerlyn from South Carolina. Besides having an awesome name, Munnerlyn has good strength for a corner, a decent vertical jump and solid speed. At just 5'9 he'll likely never be a true number 1 or 2 corner, but he can be a very good third corner playing in the slot. He also was very good at returning kicks in the SEC, so that gives the Titans options beyond Mark Jones. CCP and Exile are now on the clock for the Colts' pick - the final of the fourth round. I'll PM them.
  13. Maybe, but it's not like Bradley has been some major contributer so far, and we've been ok. He's helped with the number of pitches/AB though. They be ok in the short run if Fukudome moves to RF. He's seen almost as many pitches as MB. I'd rather leave Fuku in CF and either start Reed or Hoff in right. Let Fuku keep the position he'll be playing all year unless Reed is that much better defensively in center (which I don't think is the case).
  14. I've also heard mentions from Charley Casserley and Mike Mayock that some teams are interested in shifting DT Jarron Gilbert over to OT. I'm sorry, but Josh Freeman shouldn't be drafted that high - by anyone. He'll go somewhere in the first round, and I think that's fine. He'll probably be one of the last players to leave the green room, though. There are multiple players with more talent than Josh Freeman. Some may not be as good of a fit, but there are better backups out there who have "proven" themselves and will always be better than Josh Freeman. Admittedly, I haven't watched that many Kansas State games, but I'm not sure Freeman's a certain average NFL backup. He's 6'6, 250 and he threw for more than 8,000 yards in his collegiate career. His completion percentage as a sophomore was 63.3% and as a junior it was 58.6%. His final two QB ratings were 127 and 136. Now, he is a risk. He's more likely than the other two to bust out and do nothing. But I think he's got plenty of upside and that is why he's likely to have first round status.
  15. stuy119 is now on the clock for two Charger picks. I PMd him.
  16. Jacque and LaTroy don't fit that description. Jacque was booed on the first homestand cause he started like 0-14. LaTroy was booed after blowing like 1 save. Hmm, I thought it was longer for both of them. Ok, strike them from the example. Jacque was booed because he was absolutely the wrong fit for the team, fans knew it, he started horribly (offensively and defensively) and bitched about the fans. Latroy had a reputation for being a good reliever but choker in the closer's role before he became a Cub, and when that reputation appeared to be validated very early on, people didn't forgive. Regardless of your stance on booing, it doesn't make any sense to criticize people for not giving a veteran acquisition enough time. Veterans have enough of a track record to judge their ability to contribute. I don't need 100 PA to figure out my feelings about Neifi Perez. I just think it's especially needless and silly this early in the season. But again, I'm against it in general when you're booing your own players so I guess the qualifiers aren't necessary.
  17. That's awesome, but I cannot imagine anything would come out of that. I don't think there's any way he gets drafted - especially by the Packers, who's third string QB (Matt Mauck) is probably better than Paulus right now. He could potentially latch on to a practice squad somewhere, though, and develop into a backup. Matt Mauck? He's nothing more than just roster fodder. Flynn and Brohm are our backups. More than anything, I just think this displays the lack of confidence in them as backups from management and for good reason. They were both horrendous last season. If we're looking for a backup quarterback, just do the inevitable and sign someone like Gus Frerotte or the guy that I want, Rex. Where in the world did I get Mauck from? Sorry about that, I meant Matt Flynn. I think Brohm will develop into a solid backup at some point, but it might be a good idea to bring in a veteran like Frerotte.

  19. Now see, that reeks of the Dusty Baker mentality that said, "I don't care what his numbers were in previous years with other teams, I need to see him with my own eyes before I can judge." You should either be against booing Miles or not. Saying you can't boo him because he's had only 2 AB's is wrong. Maybe I worded it wrong. I'm against booing players on your own team anyway - so I won't do it no matter who the player is and how bad he is. But, if the fans insist on booing a player, don't do it on opening day. Especially when a player is coming off a career year. I don't think Miles will repeat that year, but if he does, he could have some level of value to the team - however minor. At this point there's a high probability we've got Miles from pre-2008, but it's not a guarantee. That makes a little more sense, until the bolded part. Why would you expect a fan to think, "hey that guy sucks, but last year was his least sucky year. He performed it with our biggest rival and is very unlikely to repeat it, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt for a yet-to-be determined grace period to prove me wrong." I'm against booing Cubs players. I might give out a two second growl of frustration after a bad play, but sustained boos are just obnoxious. But there's no need for the qualifiers. The qualifiers certainly aren't necessary - like I said I'll never boo a player on my team - but I guess I added the qualifiers because it's even more astonishing to me that general fans will boo a player who has had two ABs with his team. I've always thought of fans booing their own players as exasperation for time after time hurting the team - much like Neifi, Jacque, LaTroy, etc - not as a general "I don't like you" attitude.

  21. I don't think it's that strange of a decision. From what I've heard (basically entirely on this board) he's not going to the NBA, so why not give football a shot. Like you said, he could always head up to the CFL for a year or two to earn an NFL backup spot.
  22. That's awesome, but I cannot imagine anything would come out of that. I don't think there's any way he gets drafted - especially by the Packers, who's third string QB (Matt Mauck) is probably better than Paulus right now. 24. I'm planning a couple trips to Nashville this year, just need to know what dates I'll be going.
