  1. Chan Gailey's the new rumor, I guess.
  2. Warp? Yeah, i think so. Yeah, Warp's a big Dolphins fan. I'm surprised he didn't jump on them.
  3. EhDubya, PCP, ISUCubsFan and CubbieBum: You all now have teams (PCP is in the Titan war room). Bucs Steelers Giants Jaguars are still left.
  4. It's all good, we've been intermingling posts for the mock draft in this one at times.
  5. The Redskins have just been selected. Here are the teams still remaining ownerless: Dolphins Bills Steelers Jaguars Giants Buccaneers Cardinals If anybody has claimed one of these teams and I missed it, let know.
  6. You now have the Redskins, my friend. And by the way, here's the thread for the mock draft.
  7. Raisin actually selected them. You can be in the war room if you like, or there are a few teams left currently ownerless.
  8. Yeah, it's definitely not a Cutcliffe-esque choice. The good thing about Dooley is, like what we hoped for with Kiffin, if he's good, he can be here 10+ years. He was a long-term hire, but the fans will want him to be good now as well.
  9. I never knew of him as an OL coach, but rather a tight ends coach or head coach, so I don't know what his rep is there. But at least it's an actual NFL coach. He was the offensive line coach for the Vikings from 1997 through 2001. From what I've heard, his reputation is as a great O-line coach.
  10. I'm not sure about his teaching on fundamentals. He is a defensive coach who ignores tackling. I think he'd make a good college coach, but he's not a big motivator, which seems to be a big thing with college coaches. The motivator part might be a drawback, but could be easily covered with assistants who are.
  11. Judging by the complaints of many Bears fans and from what I've seen, I think Lovie may be more suited to being a college coach than an NFL coach. His focus on teaching and on fundamentals leads me to think he'd fit well as a collegiate head coach.
  12. Vince Dooley went 201-77-10 at Georgia and coached Herschel Walker. Hopefully the genes matter.
  13. You can still have the coach Tennessee should have hired – Mike Leach. :D I would be ecstatic As would I have been if UT had hired him.
  14. Yeah. Even when the hangman's noose is being fitted over his neck in his current job, Lovie doesn't want to take a solid opportunity to start again. I would have bolted for UT in a second. That's a solid college job. SEC. Tons of national TV coverage. The biggest reason I thought it might have the possibility of being realistic was job security. Lovie has none in Chicago, he'd have plenty in Knoxville. He must really think he can win next year in Chicago.

  16. We're probably in the thousands now, but I lost count Tuesday night.
  17. And now that ESPN article has been edited to say this:
  18. Yes, the Sports Animal is a local radio station down there (I only know this because they carry Tennessee Smokies baseball). Yep, it's the only 24 hour sports station local to Knoxville. They have reported that the UT plane is on its way to Ruston to pick up Dooley and that the deal is not done, but is close. Dooley has yet to tell his staff, they say, but likely will after the deal is done. It sounds completely done, but the Muschamp and Cutcliffe deals were apparently this close (or nearly) as well, so who knows. That said, sorry Bear fans. I wish we could have poached your coach. Well the Dooley deal is close enough that it's on ESPN.com. Cutcliffe to UT was also being reported on ESPN, I think.
  19. As for a potential Dooley hire, I'm torn on it. He's one of the "up and coming" young coaches who is the son of former Georgia head coach and AD Vince Dooley. The younger Dooley has been head coach at Louisiana Tech for three years (I think) and has been AD as well since March of 2008. It sounds like he'll keep most or all of the current staff intact, which I like, and will have recruiting and coaching ties to most of the south. That's all good, but much like Lane Kiffin last year, Dooley is pretty unproven and has some Xs and Os questions. We'll see, but considering we started the search on Jan. 12, it's a decent hire with upside.

  21. Bigbird says: Kiffin to USC was actually a three-way trade. Three coaches to USC, cash to the Orioles and Brian Roberts to UT. He'll be our running game coordinator . . .
  22. Also Cutcliffe has officially withdrawn from consideration. Your coach is staying Vanilla Ice and chuckywang. Now Basilio says this... Yep, just read that. I have no idea what's accurate at this point.
  23. Also Cutcliffe has officially withdrawn from consideration. Your coach is staying Vanilla Ice and chuckywang. This has been the craziest offseason I can remember for college coaching. It's absolutely insane. Though Mike Hamilton has been really good his entire time at UT at misdirection and smokescreens. While I hope the Lovie stuff is accurate, it could well be a smokescreen and Derek Dooley or Kevin Sumlin may well be the next head coach.
  24. Latest from Basilio, the radio host who broke this Lovie stuff last night: Also Cutcliffe has officially withdrawn from consideration. Your coach is staying Vanilla Ice and chuckywang.
  25. I hope that's true. But like you, I have no idea what's accurate at this point.
