  1. It's not a matter of hiding it in the pros, it's a matter of fixing it. Some players can't be fixed (and that may still be Vince), but some can and it's looked at times as if Vince was getting fixed. He's just taken a very, very long time.
  2. Changing OCs can have a negative impact. Having to learn potentially completely different offenses year in and year out can really stunt the growth of a young QB because he's more focused on learning the offense than on developing the areas he needs to work on. Vince has only had 2, though, so that doesn't really apply to him. And his delivery is fine and decision making has steadily been improving. His decision making isn't good, but he's also been hampered by injuries (keeping him off the field) and lack of maturity - he lets mistakes and setbacks get to him too much.
  3. Chow and Heimerdinger.
  4. I don't know that he's resentful of Vince personally, just that he was forced on him. He probably would have gotten over it by now if Vince had developed well and become a top notch QB. But with the other issues Vince has had, I think that kept the frustration on Fisher's part going. Basically, he's likely never believed in Vince and Vince's issues have only confirmed his original belief.
  5. It all started when Vince was drafted. Fisher wanted Leinart, Bud Adams (the owner) wanted Vince - so Fisher got Vince like it or not. The reason Fisher wanted Leinart is he'd prefer a QB the style of Kerry Collins - pro style, drop back passer with a good arm and good field awareness. Very little of that describes Vince. I think Fisher has carried the grudge of having Vince forced upon him ever since. Norm Chow (OC at USC with Leinart) was also with the Titans at the time they could have drafted him, right?? Yep. The USC connection was very strong at the time with Fisher and Chow and that led to them really liking Leinart. Fisher is very familiar with USC players (Damian Williams is very well liked) and I'm sure Chow gave him a strong endorsement as well.

  7. Titans will sign Chris Simms to replace Vince for the rest of the season. I can't express how much I hope they stick with Rusty Smith as the starter. Simms has never been very good and Rusty has upside. Stick with the kid.
  8. I did after word that he might be placed on it came out. I think Fisher's probably done with him and placing him on IR gets him a bit more out of the media's eye. Now, Bud Adams has until the offseason to decide who he wants to keep - Vince or Fisher. I hope Fisher.
  9. Ah, I forgot you had nobody left to go.
  10. I'm not sure exactly what happened there. At least part of it had to do with having crap to work with, but it is concerning if he were to be a candidate. And I agree it helps to have studs in your rotation, but the Braves also had a lot of guys have success in Atlanta and flame out elsewhere. I give a lot of the credit for that to Mazzone.
  11. The Vikings' personnel on defense (secondary particularly) hasn't been stellar since Frazier's been there.
  12. The man worked wonders on guys like Neagle, Hampton, Horacio Ramirez and others in Atlanta. I've heard him a little bit, but nothing that makes me nervous about hiring him.
  13. I had the same concerns about Bradford as McCoy (but on a smaller scale) – not convinced by the arm strength to perform in multiple offenses. Both I think may be West Coast/short pass type of QBs and would be limited should a coaching change happen. I like Bradford's accuracy, but wouldn't take him #1 unless it was a down year – certainly not over Suh.
  14. Thanks. That was a pretty uneducated opinion, as I've seen Kapernick play all of twice (I think) in his college career.
  15. I haven't seen enough of Kapernick to know for sure, but is his arm NFL material? For some reason, he's struck me as a mobile guy who won't have the arm for anymore than a camp arm. I had forgotten about Ponder. He's interesting, but probably won't be an early round guy, same with Gabbert. I love Murray. I always knew he had a big arm, but he's shown a lot more mobility than I thought he'd have. If Richt can keep WRs around him who can catch, Murray should be a top pick pretty quickly.
  16. Yeah, having the movement in the pocket edge over Mallett will help him overcome the advantage Mallett has in arm strength. Good point, I hadn't thought of it that way. Just out of curiosity, who worked more with the QBs at USC, Kiffin or Sarkisian?
  17. I was never much of a Bradford fan. I know I was in the minority, but I preferred Stafford to him 2 years ago. If I were the Rams, I might still have taken Suh over him, knowing what I do now. I hadn't thought about the lockout, that could definitely play a factor.
  18. No, but it could be character flaw type stuff. More the breaking the rules part than taking the money. The on-the-field questions are a bigger deal to me, the other stuff just doesn't help.
  19. Too bad Aaron Murray can't come out yet, I think he's got a shot to be really, really good in the NFL.
  20. Ryan is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. I didn't see Ryan being this good coming out of college. I was just comparing them as prospects coming out of college. Yeah, I wasn't big on Ryan coming out either. Too many picks and not enough tools to overcome the INTs.
  21. Cam intrigues me, but he strikes me very similarly to Vince – great athlete, strong arm (stronger than Vince's), questionable accuracy. With the pay-for-play stuff swirling, I'm not sure I'd want him in the first round. He'd be a good project for a team with a good, aging veteran QB. And I didn't realize Luck was that athletic. Definitely makes him a bit more appealing, though he won't be drafted for his legs. And I liken Locker to Josh Freeman, great tools but not developed at all. He'll need to fall into a good situation to succeed, especially early on.
  22. I'm bad about getting really excited about measureables and physical ability, so I probably like Mallett more than I should. I love Luck as well, though.
  23. Luck, and it's not even close. Luck is the #1 pick if he comes out. He has all the makings to be a Tom Brady or Matt Ryan type QB. He won't wow you with off the chart arm strength and measurables, but he is the best leader, most poised, and most cerebral QB that I have personally seen since Peyton Manning. And he has the ability to make every throw. Luck may not even come out though. You don't think he'll come out? I kind of assumed he would. I tend to think Mallett's more of a boom or bust guy. He could be better than Luck, but is also probably more likely to flame out than Luck. After Mallett and Locker, what QBs likely to be in this class do you really like? I should know more off the top of my head, but I don't.
  24. Luck or Mallett? What are some opinions on who's better? Mallett may have better physical tools than Luck, but Luck's more productive. Luck may not get the boost Mallett will at the combine either, meaning he might be there if the Titans fall off and end up around the same spot as last year.
  25. VY. This is a strong QB draft and there's a lot of question whether Vince will ever figure it out, under Fisher or anybody else. We already know Fisher is one of the best coaches in the league and there's no guarantee we'd get (or Bud would pay) a Cowher or someone to replace him. Bud's love of VY might lead him to fire Fisher with the thought that Fisher just hasn't bought into developing Vince, but that would be a really big mistake. As much as I like Vince, I think it's time to cut ties.
