  1. That'd be a really bad trade for the Cubs, I think. You're giving up around 6 WAR (Byrd - 3, Wells - 3) for a 3 WAR guy who's 34. And then you're throwing in a pretty good prospect and Silva for, basically, a lottery ticket. I might do that trade if you take Wells out of it and pay a decent portion of Young's next two years. Otherwise, it really doesn't make sense.
  2. Another Bunting article, this time arguing that Amukamara shouldn't be a top 10 pick.
  3. It appears Gray is #1 on Munchak's list. Thats what I have also read but also heard that Gray is not interested at this time. Sounds like bad timing, as he was trying hard to get back to Austin this offseason. I don't know if he simply wanted out of the NFL, back in College, or just trying to be closer to home. Still he would be leaving a lot of money on the table to stay in Austin. No idea who Munchak might look at if Gray declines. Them having worked on the same staff and apparently being friends might just sway him, though.
  4. Brett Jackson would probably be the new CF since he said the trade would happen in December.
  5. Rumor is the Titans may want Green Bay QB coach Tom Clements for OC. They shot down the Bears' pursuit last year, would they let him interview this year?
  6. It appears Gray is #1 on Munchak's list.
  7. Hey, since we're firing Dinger anyway, why not?
  8. Rodgers' celebration in Flames' sig looks like Ryu's move from Street Fighter.
  9. That depends on who is worth more to the NCAA. That too.
  10. Pearl is hurt pretty severely by sanctions being placed on Tennessee. His coaching job suffers because we can't bring in as many talented players, he probably gets fired and then he's working his way back up in the mid-major/D-II ranks again. There was no other way to punish Bryant than to suspend him. Pearl can also be fined by the NCAA and have sanctions placed on him and his staff (much like UT already did) – a player cannot. Also, the Bryant suspension was ridiculously terrible and shouldn't be used as a gauge for what the NCAA should do.
  11. It's going to be very tough to find an OC better than Dinger at this point. Hopefully Munchak has somebody good in mind.
  12. I think they'll suspend him again, I just don't know that it will be a full season or two added on. I could see them tacking on a half season next year or something along with extra sanctions onto the school. It could also be an extra full year or two suspension. I think Hamilton and Slive are hoping that the NCAA punishment is lessened – not eliminated – after Slive's 8-game suspension, however.
  13. If Stafford can stay healthy for a full season, they could be a playoff team within the next year or two.
  14. I wouldn't expect that it was even considered. I'd have loved it, though. Bud wanted Munchak from day one.
  15. I'm a little disappointed Bud Adams didn't back up the money truck to hire Schwartz away from Detroit when he fired Fisher. I'd be more disappointed if I thought there was any possibility that might have happened.
  16. They're probably waiting on Pearl to see what the NCAA decides. If Slive's 8-game suspension keeps the NCAA punishment minor, they may keep Bruce. If he gets a 1-2 year suspension, however, I think he's gone. With Mike Hamilton's job in pretty big question, it's difficult to fire Pearl if it's not completely necessary.
  17. Jim Wyatt Very surprising to me. I didn't think Bud would be ok with paying too many coaches to not coach.
  18. It's certainly possible now that the Reaves/Orgeron/Kiffin stuff has come out on top of the Pearl stuff.
  19. Yeah, that would make sense. But the NCAA rarely makes sense. I am waiting for the NCAA to punish the Wake Forest baseball team for donating a kidney to one of his players for improper benefits. That would be a tough benefit to repay . . .
  20. That shouldn't have stopped them from putting in the best, most deserving players. I don't think they did that. the best probably didn't get in, no... but I think it would make it easier if they just went and put in all the guys who deserve it, regardless of how many there are in a particular year This is true.
  21. Yeah, that would make sense. But the NCAA rarely makes sense.
  22. Ideally, I think, his best fit is as a backup on a good team. I agree he's not a guy you want to bring in to build a franchise around, and instead would be better being taken by a good team that will develop him behind an established starter and move him into the starting role in time (i.e. the Colts, Patriots, Seahawks, etc).
  23. And we'll get sanctions from his tenure to boot. I'm happier all the time that Lane skipped town for USC.
  24. Interesting article by Wes Bunting on Ponder. I think he's overrating him, but it's worth considering.
  25. 2006 was Addai's best year, however, with 4.8 ypc. Not a huge part of the offense, but still productive when he got touches. A good RB isn't necessary if you've got a great passing game, but it does have its importance. Also, there aren't that many great passing offenses out there. The Packers, Patriots and Colts can do it, but very few others can.
