  1. Good to see Scarpetta throwing well for Wisconsin.
  2. He's probably a plus defender in RF.
  3. He's only using the radar on Shafer. That normal for players to be working on their own teammates? Yep, that's a Chief.
  4. I didn't there would be many scouts anymore as that's mostly done. That's a player, probably a Peoria guy as they usually chart solo and most other teams chart with two to three guys.
  5. I'm sure Shafer will be 87-91 and sit 88-89, with an ok slider and decent change. Any scouts at the game?
  6. 2nd highest point total this week and lost which makes up for the week against HBC. I gained some points overall though and the bulk of my difficult schedule is now gone.
  7. They'll be tough come playoff time, between the line-up, the SP, and the pen. That lineup is probably the most balanced I've seen this year in the MWL (Nate knows better than me though).
  8. It'd be a waste of a phone call. They're not to trade him as he's one of the best 2B in the League, on the best team in the League, on the team with the highest payroll ever. Plus, the Cubs (beyond Vitters) wouldn't have enough to get him and the Yankees have only Jerry Hairston as their utility player and beyond his decent numbers in Cincy doesn't merit being a starter at 2B espec. replacing Cano. All this to simply build up their farm which doesn't mean much when you buy the best FAs to stock up.
  9. His FB last night had more velo than before as he touched 94 several times according to the WGN gun, but that line-out to Fuld was a straight FB that the hitter just got on top of. When it left the bat, I thought it had a chance but had too much top spin.
  10. I'd rather see a manager micromanage ala Larussa and burn a lefty for Fontenot (9) and Fukudome (1). Plus, batting Theriot in front of the pitcher allows him to be more aggressive on the bases w/out costing them much and takes the bat out of the pitcher's hands more. I think micromanaging by the other team would hurt the Cubs more often than it helped the Cubs in that case. It would cause the other team to run out of relievers sooner, but that's the only detriment, and it hurts the Cubs chances of scoring in that particular inning considerably. I think the loss of an inning would be more harmful than getting a benefit for extra inning games. I don't think it would their chances of scoring b/c when it matters it would likely be close and at least in the middle innings. You have the pitcher 8th (PH with Hoffpauir) bringing in the lefty, with Fontenot, Fukudome, and the switch-hitter. Then, Piniella would have the option of PH'ing for Fontenot with Baker/Fox and giving the opposing manager the decision again to go back to the RH'er for the RH'ed hitter or stay with the lefty with the possible better hitter in Fox and repeating the process with Fukudome/Johnson.

  12. Fukudome Bradley Lee Ramirez Soriano Soto Theriot SP Fontenot
  13. I know CJ, he's in my backyard practically. He gave up baseball for football. As a Soph. in HS was 86-89. Just an amazing athlete. It'll be interesting how he does at Johnsburg next year, their QB will be playing baseball down at Miami and Johnsburg's FB coach (as well as the basketball, wrestling, and AD) was fired for stealing. That's a great pick-up for U of I. He should've played baseball his Junior and Senior seasons. i heard somebody say that he's a pretty good basketball player, too. He's 6'7" at a real small school, so he'd play all 3 sports but regardless of the size of school, he'd be real good at each sport. He is a good basketball player, he dwarfs everyone in the Fox Valley conf.

  15. That's only b/c of the restraining order. are those public record? I seen it on TMZ & there's this... http://www.iowasexoffender.com
  16. Doumit is slightly better than Lecroy and Fox defensively behind the plate (although none are/were close to stellar). Doumit is probably the only one that could justify leaving him behind the plate for offensive purposes since he's the best hitter of the 3.
  17. I've never had one but that sounds extremely good.
  18. Very much so and also at a premium position (SS). He's at AA at the age of 19. The avg. age of the player in the Midwest League (Low-A) is 21.9yo. He would be considered young for short-season. the avg. age for a guy at AA is just over 23 I believe.
  19. It's a serious concern w/his hand injury, I don't know if it's falling as right now, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be the #1 prospect in the system. But the injuries are a concern for someone that young.
  20. Fox should be used as Matt LeCroy, when he's hot you find a spot to play and when he struggles/levels off, he becomes the key RH'ed bat on the bench.
  21. That's impressive from Cashner, I've prob. been too tough on him even though he has that plus FB and flashes a plus slider. Samardzija merited that before and I like Cashner more than Samardzija but, so I might be too tough on him.
  22. I have no desire to see Shafer and after 14 innings last night, I'll take my day off and save the 110 mile round-trip.
  23. I did forget to mention that Archer's CB looked much better this time, prob. went from avg. to a plus pitch, IMO.
  24. I've seen Archer a few times now for about 15IP and he hasn't been really above 93 in any outing, he might've touched 94, but my 1st report on him, I remember someone surprised at how low the velo was. It's still a ML FB velo-wise cause he sits 91. I think Huseby can be, but I'm going on small sample as this was the 1st time I've seen him. He didn't show a 3rd pitch so I would skeptical off the bat. But, he has tools to be successful given his deception, command/control, and the slider to be success regardless of whether it's starting or relieving. His slider is such that it's equally as nasty to LH'ers as righties. I won't be there and the only time I might see them again is if they play KC in the playoffs.
  25. He didn't throw it last night as the FB I seen had tail at (86-90), I would say he threw around 65% FB and 35% slider. Cabrera touched 96 once and 95 a couple of times on the same gun that had Archer (87-93), Cabrera hit those velos after giving up the GS, so I'm sure he was pissed at the time and overthrew.
