    The Cubs have something in their hand but it's not a bird, and it most definitely is broke. I would not consider a trade of the studs if this team was coming off back to back 90+ win seasons, but this team sucks. Anything to improve them should be done. Would you trade ARam for Wilkerson and Hernandez and re-sign Nomar to play 3rd? I wouldn't. As much as I like Wilkerson, he's a huge downgrade from ARam. Nomar's still as likely to get hurt. And there are only handful of pitchers I would trade Ram for......Livan ain't one of them. Would you (or anyone) trade Zambrano for Miguel Cabrera. I would and use Cabrera back at SS.

    Most productive and most valuable aren't the same thing. They can be. If Pujols drives in 200 runs, but when you break down the numbers 175 of those were driven in when his team was already ahead by 3 runs - is he still the most valuable? Obviously a very extreme example but it shows that the two aren't always interchangeable. Hey, I'll be extatic if Lee wins. I don't think he will and think he may even end up third (not saying I agree with that). That doesn't show me how Pujols was more valuable than Lee. I just want to see how and why Pujols was more valuable than Lee? That's only a hypothetical that doesn't apply to this case. Lee was more productive than Pujols, Pujols' teammates were much more productive than Lee's. Lee's being punished for having weaker teammates than Pujols. If Lee doesn't win, it'll be the wrong choice.

    Well, the Cubs don't have the same successful farm system as they did as recently as 2002'. I blame the lack of emphasis on international free agents from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela as well as the Pacific Rim. Atlanta has better scouts, better instructors, better Latin America program, etc.. And once they get to the majors, they play for a manager with a different philosophy than the one on the Cubs. Pie has been the last uber-prospect from the DR and Guzman has been the last from Venezuela, with Ryu being the last from the Pacific Rim.

    Don't buy it for a second, never have, never will. I wasn't playing the "if" game, I was asking questions, questions that haven't been answered. Lee was the best and most productive player, he was the most valuable. When Lee becomes responsible for having 24 inferior players around than Pujols, I would say Pujols deserves it. But, team accomplishment should not be factored in a award based on individual performance. Unless Pujols demostrated some unique leadership quality that lifted his spirits to higher levels over Lee, I don't buy the fact that Jocketty having a better year than Hendry determines the MVP vote. (edit-spelling)

    Seeing the "chop" by the Braves fans, will always remind me of Game 3 in Chicago of 2003' NLDS with Prior against Maddux and how well the Cubs' fans mocked the chop. I was never so proud of how arrogant we could all be while doing that.

    Good to see these announcers, good Ole Thom and Psycho sticking for the umps despite the bad call. One of the best arms I've seen at SS. Highlight of the game, that young girl with the sign "I love rookies" and I thought of Baker. Not shocking that LaRoche and McCann driving in all the runs for the Braves.

    Quite a battle there, salary advantage-Guzman and the production advantage goes to Neifi. If I was Washington and that was the battle at starting SS, I'd want a 3rd option. That's why they moved Zimmerman to SS. Did you see some of the comments made about 2B Howie Kendrick of Anaheim? Aybar, Cabrera, Wood, Callespo, Kennedy and Kendrick... Quite a surplus of MIs.

    The Hank Aaron award goes to the best hitter, you can make a case for Pujols being a better hitter than Lee moreso than Pujols being more valuable than Lee b/c Lee separates himself as the more valuable player moreso in the field than at the plate. What did Pujols do that was more valuable than what Lee did for the Cubs? The most productive player is the most valuable, unless the player is a total rectum like Cabrera in Florida or the other player is some omnipotent being who's mere presence in the clubhouse lifted the other 24 players to greater heights than they would've if he hadn't been there. If you site the Cards record as well as the Cubs finishing below .500 are you trying to tell me the remaining 24 players on each roster are equal? Or if you put Pujols on the Cubs, they would've finished above .500? Or, if Lee was on the Cards that they would not have made the post-season? I'd give Lee the Hank Aaron award as well as the MVP.

    I love the playoffs with or without the Cubs. The atmosphere surrounding each game makes it worth while. Even though, I'm pulling for the Braves... The concept of having to face Clemens, Pettitte, and Oswalt potentially 6 times in a 7 game series is very intriguing to me.

    Players can smell blood, Wells had been getting hard before the error and the Sox were getting good looks. Playing well heading into the post-season has helped them relax.

    You have to know how to clutch hit...it's a craft. :wink: Nice job by the W. Sox coming back and taking advantage. Teams playing well, take advantage of those mistakes and more times than not, the Cubs in '05 would've squandered that gift.

    I could be able to guess how Cards fans would if one of their pitchers reached 300 wins while with the team. It hasn't happened in many years in STL if ever, but I could imagine how they'd react, probably exaclty the same as Cubs fans. Even though one of "their" guys have never experienced an accomplishment like that. Odd how that works.

    You won't see many future ML'ers there, if you do it'll be b/c the Cards will draft a 1st rounder out of college and send him there before deciding to send him to the Quad Cities for the end of the year. Root for them. If the Cubs had a team in the NY-Penn league, I'd cheer for the Cubs affil. when they came there.

    I think Koronka is developed to his fullest abilities, which is a #3 starter for a AAA team.     Ruhle will be back w/Cincy. After Tom House (he ain't going anywhere), I'd interview Wayne Rosenthal or Bryan Price. But, if Kranitz is the only one interviewed, I'll be disappointed for the reasoning that extends to not looking at all the avail. options. If the Cubs are high on Kranitz at this stage, that wouldn't change if they interviewed other options. Kranitz was the leading candidate after Acosta resigned, they went with Marty instead.
