  1. If memory serves, I seem to recall him saying he tried steroids very briefly and couldn't discern a real benefit from them. If you ever seen House in person, he's tiny, maybe 5'7"-5'8" on a good day, from what I recall he might've been one of the 1st to try steroids to add velo and that's probably the 1st time he realized that maintaining flexibility is more important than adding mass as it didn't add velo. He believes in nutritional supplements to help speed up the recovery time between outings. btw, according to this he's 5'11 and was 190 lbs when he played. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_House If you've ever stood next to him, he's not close to 5'11".
  2. Over the height of his body? Does this cause him to push off the rubber too hard or is it more of a natural push? Natural with Prior... http://www.papadakistaverna.com/Images/Photos/Mark_Prior.gif I'll pull up a pic of Maddux at foot strike. http://woolis.com/images/2005SpringTRSPC/3-12%20016Maddux.jpg Apologies for the large pic.
  3. Stride length is too long, delayed shoulder rotation is fine and a key compenent just not that much (at the expense of an ideal stride length).
  4. so you don't think prior has good mechanics? A lot of people have commented that the way in which Prior raises his elbow above his shoulder when delivering is a good way to put extra stress on the shoulder Most of his delivery is solid, I don't like his stride length and arm path though.

He believes in nutritional supplements to help speed up the recovery time between outings. size does not = velocity. flash gordon is 5'8 or so and gets it to 95. wagner is only 5'10 and hits 100+. steve dalkowski was around 5'8 and was arguably the hardest thrower ever. Never said it did, but House is about 5'7" and made it to the majors throwing 82 and wanted to bulk up via steroids and it didn't help him.

  7. What's the question? Prior has been working with House since the Summer heading into his Junior year of HS. My information regarding Prior would be outdated since it was Oct/Nov., I assume he's still building up strength in his shoulder. Too much time has gone by since then to make any type of prediction.
  8. I think Nantz is good at what he does, combine him and Aikman and you have a nice duo.
  9. Go Pats... I'll be rooting for you to go to the Super Bowl.
  10. Gotta have less D. Manning. The first TD drive was 80% on him (20% on the D-line). Defensive line play has been absolutely horrible for about 6 weeks. Not just Manning, but Chris Harris was pretty bad too. They really miss Mike Brown. Dan Hampton was speculating on WGN radio that Cameron Worrell would start over Chris Harris if he was healthy. Somehow I doubt that. Yeah, Harris was bad too. But I think he's a better FS than Manning and Johnson is better vs. the run. Harris missed a ton of tackles that led to big Alexander gains. I still don't think Mike Brown is that big of a loss. Losing Tommie Harris has made this team an average defense. I thought it was lack of motivation in recent weeks, but they just aren't a great defensive team without Tommie. Not to talk about the draft now, but the Bears really do need a fat DT to compliment Harris in running situations and then bring in Tank on likely passing situations.
  11. Gotta have less D. Manning. The first TD drive was 80% on him (20% on the D-line). Defensive line play has been absolutely horrible for about 6 weeks. D. Manning is extremely gifted as far as his tools (probably faster than Tillman and Vasher), but his instincts and knowledge of where he should be has to improve.
  12. I donno the saints did run the ball all over Philly with Duece and Reggie. They did it outside of the guards, which is the strength of the Bears defense b/c of Urlacher, both Duece and especially Bush are not as strong running up the middle as Alexander.
  13. The Bears are going to need a similar game plan, I'll be disappointed if Jones/Benson don't get 35+ carries vs. a below avg. run defense. I'm glad that they'll be facing a more pass oriented offense given how poorly the Bears have been against the run w/out Harris.
  14. I'm rooting for the Eagles, I still despise Runyan and Dawkins though.
  15. He can develop those qualities though, his ceiling is likely that of a middle of the order hitter. Bunting is part of situational hitting, obviously it has a lesser chance of greater success like getting a base hit thru the right side when trying to advance a runner, but it's part of the definition of situation hitting. There's also a huge difference between having the ability to bunt and the manager calling for a bunt at the wrong time, which falls more on the manager rather than the player. If you wished the player didn't have the ability to bunt b/c of the manager, the player isn't at fault.
  16. There's nothing wrong with that. You don't want to use it in most game situations for a middle of the order hitter, but it's definitely better to have a 3-4-5 hitter that can be a good situational hitter (which was likely the overall gist) while having the standard qualities of a 3-4-5 hitter rather than one who doesn't.
  17. BB per 9= (BBs/IP)*9 K per 9=(K/IP)*9
  18. That's more under the realm of poise and maturity moreso than (an intangible) a greater ability to win. That ability doesn't factor over the course of the season to say that a 15 win pitcher is one that has a greater poise over someone that won 10 games compared to the pitcher's actual production and run support.
  19. Most of the bills in your wallet right now are about as clean as one that would be in a urinal, most are covered in germs from the constant changing of hands.
  20. I use BA to find out the background of a player, story behind his drafting and what not. I find their quick reviews of players to be useful as well, but like almost every other ranking regardless of whom it comes from in that regard (BA, BP, etc.) to be more of something to compare to rather than something to based upon.
  21. It has to be a player by player basis rather than group vs. group, which goes back to tools IMO. As far as Piggy, how far can that deception take him is the question moreso than how far can his talent take him.
  22. A barrel diameter not exceeding a maximum of 2 5/8 inches. A length to weight differential of no greater than minus 3. I've heard they might go to a ZERO difference in the future. I think that would be wise.
  23. A barrel diameter not exceeding a maximum of 2 5/8 inches. A length to weight differential of no greater than minus 3.
  24. If it was a science, it wouldn't be as much fun.
  25. A ball coming off an aluminum bat even from a HS hitter can do perm. damage, you can say that about wood as well, just less likely.
