The only time a team can validate overpaying for a closer is when that is likely the missing piece. Obviously, the Reds have some holes especially the btm half of the rotation (minus Bailey, Harang, and Arroyo). They need a front end starter and have the bats to acquire one via trade since none are avail. via FA. A closer becomes less valuable on a team that several holes, smaller payroll, and 2 starters and other parts of the pen not likely to be considered shut-down anytime soon.
