  1. I would say not that good. Last Fall, he was considered a top 50 overall potential pick with a commitment to Oregon St and fell to the 6th rd. Between his injury to his non throwing arm and signability, he fell past where his likely demands would be agreed upon. He'll go to Corvallis, pitch well, and likely become a 1st rd. pick in June of '11.
  2. Enjoy your site and welcome to this forum. I agree with his tempo being too slow, at foot strike, his arm isn't at its highest point. I also think his follow-thru puts some undo pressure on his shoulder as far as deceleration with a slight recoil and the lacking of what should be a more peaceful slowing down process of that great arm speed. Part of it might be caused by him flying open and throwing across his body when he breaks down mechanically.
  3. I'd like him more if he allowed me to either digest everything he is trying to say or let someone else talk. He tends to be a non-stop rambler.
  4. Sure, he's better than what the Bears have & Wisconsin will go into a state of emergency.
  5. I want to throw a "spuckle" I know that article focuses on his arm action, I like his arm action... I don't like his follow-through. That's a lot of strain on that shoulder slowing down that arm.

  7. I'm slow and you know how I feel about him.
  8. Good to see Matchulat make his debut.
  9. I agree 100%. What is he failing to adjust too? Ah, the heck with it...I don't want to hijack the thread as it's suppose to be about pitchers and trades. If you could post it on the Colvin thread in minors, I appreciate it. Good question and without even seeing him play, I couldn't tell you.
  10. Colvin did go to college (Clemson). Until he has some sort of success, pitchers won't adjust to how they pitch to him.
  11. Right now, I would rather have Theriot and DeRosa. Next year, I'd probably take Ramirez over Theriot but doubt I would over DeRosa. Ramirez is a real good ballplayer with amazing bat speed and a plus defender at either SS, CF, and 2B. This is his 1st year of baseball in the states and he's done what I expected. I expect him to be similar to Derosa as far as avg. and HRs with more speed and a better defender w/out the BSs as Ramirez progresses.
  12. They'll be good b/c of the core of the offense, but to assume that Gallardo and Parra will equate or come close to Sheets and 14 starts of Sabathia in a playoff push isn't fair as well as needing to overall the pen (again).
  13. I give them credit for trying to go for it all, but with Sheets and Sabathia soon to be free agents and Sabathia likely going to the highest bidder, they are gambling and I like teams that gamble. Luckily (minus Kendall and Cameron) that offense is young but it will be interesting as Fielder, Hart, Hardy, etc. all get further along in their arby years. Luckily journeyman pitcher Suppan has 2 years left which should help free some money. They do need another arm in that pen.
  14. I'm hoping to see more from Shafer b/c when I seen him, I was not impressed.
  15. I wouldn't count Boston out yet, TB while finally playing with the excitement of winning hasn't had to play with the pressure of it, yet. They're going to be there the entire year and if they cont. to play well and get HFA, they'll be real tough with more home games than road.
  16. I really think that team is winning the East. The Red Sox have a lot of question marks. It will be interesting to see how the Rays handle the deadline. Also, are they still planning on calling up Price at somepoint this season? Man, that rotation is going to be completely dominant pretty soon. Maddon is right that they really haven't hit well at all (and he's right) so that is encouraging. You could say that Navarro and Hinske are hitting better than expected but everyone else is at or below where they should be. Crawford, Upton, and Pena are all doing worse than expected. I'd like to see a RH'ed bat and poss. maybe another arm in the pen b/c of Percival unable to stay healthy. I think Price might be a Sept. call-up, but TB isn't known as a team that will rush or push kids.
  17. They were similar as far as where they sat, but Bristow touched 93 this year which Shafer was 88-91 all year.
  18. The Rays won again... 54-32 going for another sweep at home.
  19. No big deal, win the series tomorrow and still gain a game on them overall. Wood pitched his ass to get to two outs with a 1 run lead to see it wasted on that hanging slider bothers me the most. I am pleased that from now till the end of August they will play a lot more games at home and during that run, I'm hoping they can stay somewhat healthy and pull away. I still expect them to be 7 games up going into Sept.
  20. I was about to ask this as well. From the sound of Pat, was he just throwing breaking balls? Did he throw a fastball all inning? His FBs were located better than they had been. His usual 92-94 velo on it. But he threw the sliders where he wanted to low and in to Ankiel, inner half off the plate against Pujols followed by one low and away out of the zone with two strikes.
  21. Hopefully, that's the start of Marmol getting his mechanics back to where they were.
  22. His balance is better and his command looks a lot better today, but lets see if he can go 3 for 3 here.
