  1. Well, it works for Gary Sheffield... :P I think bat-waving is kinda stupid and juvenile. I also think Shef does it to try to distract the pitcher... although good pitchers look at the batter from the waist down. That's what Prior said he did, in an interview when he first came up. Finally, I think that Gary Sheffield is still getting some "help", and he's a drug test away from being in a Palmeiro-style doghouse.
  2. What's wrong with that? School doesn't start for another month!
  3. You know, I think I'd rather hear a drunk sing "Sweet Home Chicago" than "Go Cubs Go".
  4. Sosa would of had that I don't really care. We need a better option in RF next year than either of them. I'm really hating Jeromy's slump.
  5. Nice work. Yeah, I know. It was supposed to be posted before the inning started, no as an early celebration. I'll take the fall for this. If your boy doesn't get Pujols, I'll give you a heart emoticon with a knife through it. :(
  6. Like, Burnitz, dude, you like, totally choked. :x
  7. Nah, save it for tomorrow. We need to shut the door on this game first.
  8. Michael was pretty good last year too - tired out a bit toward the end of the season. He'd been on Jim Hendry's wish list for a couple of years before he became a Cub.
  9. Guess what? Tavarez is STILL a punk.
  10. I say Kerry gets one more chance to start next year, but we start the season with 5 other bona fide starters. If he stays healthy, we trade someone come July. If the shoulder/mechanics get wonky again, we see if he can become the next John Smoltz. As Smoltzie has shown, you CAN do the starter role again after being in the pen for a long time. EDIT: Wow I sure did use "start" a lot in that first sentence!
  11. Let's say it together: BARRETTGASM!!!! :D
  12. Woody be ON. Perhaps this balls-out for a couple of innings thing works for him after all.
  13. I heard a comedian once describe Herman Munster as history' first gay monster. Well, that impression by Pat yesterday DID sound a little gay to me. Come on Kerry, get Fabulash Man!
  14. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP WITH THE MUNSTERS ALREADY, RONNIE!!!!
  15. Didn't see it, but remember he's kinda gimpy these days. I hold my breath whenever I see him running the bases - kind of like an NL Edgar Martinez, only Aramis can field.
  16. 3-0. Hope Ram didn't hurt himself trying to hustle into 2nd. Anyone interested in a Wood save attempt?
  17. YES! RBI DLee! Thanks for turning on the jets, Walker!
  18. Wow. When was the last time anyone here said "not to complain" without sarcasm? Our bench is really getting thinned out. Dusty could have sent Murton up there though. Yes, and he could have K'd. It's like a Russian Roulette game on the bench lately - only everyone is shooting BLANKS.
  19. Beyond a doubt the luckiest team in the NL, they're also good. Why can't you guys just give us credit? We've been a great team for over a year and half now. This isn't a flukey ride of luck. How many Nunez', Womack', Rodriguez' and the various bullpen re-treads going to keep coming up Golden? Don't get me wrong the Cards are good and deserve all the credit but, you've got to admit they've had an incredible amount of things go right. To be fair, didn't Tony Womack hit a double as a DBack AGAINST the Cardinals to get AZ to the World Series?
  20. KERRY WOOD SIGHTING!!!! Throwing in the pen!!!! :D
  21. RATS!!!! Corey lines out hard. :(
  22. Crap. Lee went on contact and gets toasted at the plate. CAN WE FREAKING GET A GUY IN FROM THIRD FOR A FLIPPING CHANGE?????? :x :x :x
  23. Oh Badger, I acknowledge you, oh great baseball god. Every post you make is bursting with baseball "intellect." I salute you, and bow down to you, because my posting is vastly inferior, and filled with less "baseball intellect, then yours." Hey it's not my fault you advocate moving Walker down in the lineup because he GIDP for the 5th time all year. IT's a ridiculous move. Who would you have up there on this lineup? This is unsolicited because you didn't direct it to me, but perhaps Nomar would be a better choice? Then again, it helps if he's actually IN the lineup. :x It's a possibility, he's seeing some good pitches right now in the 5 spot, and I think he has more power than T-Walk. I'm not sure if I'd want him in the 2 spot, but point taken. My rationale is that he is a free swinger, but he does tend to make contact. I think that's a respectable combo toward the top of the order. But definitely not first - leadoff has two responsibilities: (1) get on base, and (2) get the pitcher to throw as many pitches as possible, so your team can see what he has/n't got.
