  1. Geez. It looks like they are holding every down.
  2. No pass rush = BIG day for Aaron Rodgers.
  3. I would honestly say Rex has a very very slight edge in arm strength based on what I remember seeing from both of them. Cutler is much more accurate downfield though. That ball to Knox was a bomb though...it was around 65 yards! Anyways, another advantage Cutler has over Rex is the fact that he's 2 inches taller than Rex. I always felt that a lot of Rex's issues came from him not being able to see the entire field well enough when he was under pressure, so he would often make incorrect reads or go off memory of the play and hope there wasn't a safety hiding behind the arm of that lineman that's in his face. Cutler's vision is much better in those situations because a) he's 2 inches taller and b) as you mentioned his pocket presence is superior to Grossman's, and he can move around inside and outside the pocket better than Sexy Rexy. It's sad because Rex has a lot of tools that a lot of QBs wish they had including arm strength and confidence. But he's also missing important tools that kept him from being more than a good backup, marginal starter. Rex certainly had his moments. He looked like a superstar plenty of times. And then he started getting blitzed, and he looked like crap. Well, we can compare specifics about size, arm strength, etc. The fact is that we've seen both of them make amazing deep throws. The big difference seems to be that Cutler has much better poise and seems to move much better to avoid the rush. However, this comparison might not be 100% fair. Because Rex had Ron F@#$ing Turner calling the offense. And when Cutler had Ron F@#$ing Turner calling the offense, he sucked too. We all know how huge coaching is in football. When a team is bringing a pass rush and blitzing, in theory, this should create openings downfield. We actually saw Martz exploit this last week. Ron Turner couldn't exploit mismatches against a pop warner team. I'd be really curious to see Rex get another crack in the NFL.
  4. Great minds think alike! I'm also trying to drop Gaffney for Thomas. I also put in a claim on Tolbert. Who knows how banged up Ryan Matthews is, and frankly he hasn't shown much when he's been healthy. The problem is that teams don't like to give up on their early first round picks, so I'm sure Matthews will continue to get the bulk of carries if healthy. But at the very least, Tolbert could end up being a great TD vulture. If Donald Brown is available in your league, that's another guy to consider. A first round pick that the team is invested in. He got a lot of carries this past weekend. He's not available in my league. I don't know about Gradkowski. I was listening to something on the radio yesterday of how Al Davis edited Tom Cable's post game remarks about Gradkowski and his potential to start. It's a risk.
  5. Sounds like Tyler had a pneumothorax. Should be OK for next year.
  6. Streak over. See? We have a thread about it, and then they lose. Chalk it up to chance, or whatever. This team sucks under pressure. Period. And it's been that way for a few years. I'm of the minority on this board that actually somewhat believes in "clutch". And the Cubs certainly don't have it.
  7. Awesome. We needed 3 pt shooting.
  8. at least moderately annoyed?? Hey, I'm a fan just like most people here and obviously want my team to win. But it seems like the more games actually count, the worse this team plays and vice versa. This year, they teased us many times with mini streaks where they actually played OK, pushed .500, made us think they were going to get back in it. And then they drop 4 out of 5, or 8 out of 10 to a couple of sucky teams and are out of it again. Now that they are hopelessly out of it, they are actually winning games. It almost makes you believe in "clutch". Or lack thereof.
  9. I've decided I'm putting in a claim on Demaryius Thomas. First round pick. Looked real good in his first game back. If healthy, I think he could clearly be Denver's #1 target. My second claim will be for Walter. I'm not sold on any RB yet. My only issue is I need 1 more RB for my bye week, when 2 of my 3 off. And I'm definitely dumping my kicker and picking up Robbie Gould. Nice to see him available. The Fred Funk of NFL kickers. His ball doesn't curve!
  10. Thoughts on possible waiver wire pickups! I need help at receiver and have good waiver position this week. WR: Kevin Walter HOU: Big game. Is there enough points to go around after Andre Johnson? Darius Heyward-Bey OAK: Ready to live up to the hype ie McFadden? Demaryius Thomas DEN: Stepping up as a rookie? RB: who doesn't need another one? slim pickings in my league Jason Snelling ATL: is he going to get the ball? John Kuhn GB: ditto Chester Taylor: can he get enough receptions to make it worth my while in a ppr league?
  11. wow, they won!! And pretty impressively.
  12. TOUCHDOWN!! F@#$ YEAH!! F@#$ THE OVERRATED COWBOYS!! F@#$ all the A@#$$% who picked the COWBOYS against the spread!!
  13. I don't remember our WR's getting yards after the catch under Ron Fing Turner.
  14. YES! That's the Devon Hester I've been missing.
  15. That was a perfect pass. Could've been caught.
  16. TOUCHDOWN!! Now fire Lovie Smith.
  17. So much for the mighty Cowboys D dominating the horrible Bears offense. If only the defense could step up.
  18. Bears getting absolutely no respect from the media. - ESPN Power ranking is 22 (actually down from week 1 despite the win). Only 3 teams with week 1 wins are below them, and 9 teams with week 1 losses in front - 10/10 ESPN picks for the Cowboys - All fantasy football ratings seem to have the Cowboys offense and defense as a very favorable matchup against the Bears defense and offense, respectively I'm not going to be delusional and actually think the Bears have a great team. But this is just too much. They could've easily beaten the Lions by 30 points in week 1. And the Cowboys are overrated.
  19. I'm number 5. I know I have no shot at Jackson. I do think Mike Williams is available in my league. My RB's are Steven Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Ahmad Bradshaw. I have to play 2 + I have a WR/RB flex position. Correll Buckhalter is on my bench. I also have Tashard Choice, but I'm likely going to drop him this week. My WR's are Marques Coulston and Hakim Nicks. Josh Cribbs and Jabar Gaffney on the bench. I could use help in both positions.
  20. Hey guys, any opinions on potential pickups? Here's some guys that are available in my league that I'm thinking about: RB's: Brandon Jackson: Probably can't get him because Ryan Grant's injury is plastered all over the media as is everyone's recommendation to pick him up Peyton Hillis: Looks like he started for Cleveland and had a fair game WR's: Danny Amendola: got a lot of looks from Bradford. Also, my league counts return yards Legedu Naanee: Had a big game for SD. Vincent Jackson out of the picture
  21. I haven't read the entire thread, but a lot of negativity here and in the online Chicago media. Just watched the game on NFL network because I didn't get a chance on Sunday. I was expecting the worst after reading some of the stories out of Chicago. Not defending Lovie, but I can certainly live with the win. Granted the Lions are a bad team, and the Bears made a lot of stupid mistakes. But the coaches didn't fumble the ball or commit the dumb penalties. Blame them if it continues all year but not over 1 game. 463 yards to 168. They moved the ball on offense, and the defense was pretty effective. I'd much rather win this way than win on a few fluke turnovers and getting outgained by a lot for the game. I'll be cautiously optimistic.
  22. The decision is not as simple as Deng, Noah, picks, etc. for Anthony. Salaries certainly matter. Any team that trades for Carmelo will have to commit to a max extension. There are only a few teams that can even afford him. And any of those teams can conceivably get him for nothing except the money come next July. I don't think he's valuable enough to trade away your promising young cheap players and give up all your picks for him. It remains to be seen if Denver can score a ton of cheap young talent and picks for Melo.
  23. Because he will be a free agent and you could totally lose him. If Denver isn't going anywhere, trade Melo so you don't have to pay his salary for 2010 and get something in return. What is Denver going to do with Nene if they get Noah? Oh and don't let Joakim stand in the way of this thing going down. I love the guy, but if they want him don't even give Noah a second thought. I don't like a deal that includes Noah and picks. Hate to be a homer about Noah, but the center position would go from a strength to a serious weakness. The defense would suffer greatly. The Bulls would be well into luxury tax territory for years to come after they sign Melo to an extension. And does the team win a ring? I'll take my chances with Deng at SF. Thibideau keeps saying how Deng is one of the most underrated players in the league. Let's see what he does with him.
  24. Joe Johnson is on the books for 6 more years and $119 million. Luol Deng has 4 more years and $51 million. It's not terrible. Deng is a solid player. Not a great contract, but certainly could be worse.
