  1. Yeah it's a tweet. Reading some of the others from that account, including ones that attribute to Bucher, I'm pretty certain that's saying Rose's advisers, not the team's. Another tweet attributed to Bucher says those same advisers are "going to be on the Bulls hard if they don't add a legit Star before next season". Isn't it pretty well established that there's no increased risk of reinjury once the injury is healed and rehabbed? I can understand sitting out if the extra time is going to decrease the chances of reinjury. But sitting out because the team sucks and can't win? I'm not sure how these "advisors" are, but it seems stupid.
  2. I think people around here will be shutting up about Harbaugh benching Alex Smith.
  3. Later Packers. Maybe you should've tried a bit harder week 17!
  4. No Niner love from most people. Im calling a Niner victory over the Pack. I'd be very worried about the Niner defense if I were a Packer fan.
  5. It is totally understandable that Palmeiro, McGwire and Sosa got no votes that Bonds didn't get as well. But a lot of voters penalized Piazza and Bagwell for steroids as well, because the percentage of votes they got from Bonds voters is significantly higher than from non-Bonds voters. This is not explained simply by them being tougher voters, because more of them preferred Edgar Martinez and Tim Raines, and the Biggio vote was very close. Even if Piazza and Bagwell never did steroids, they are certainly getting lumped in with the rest of them. But there's no way to know they weren't clean. And there's no way to know if Biggio and Bagwell weren't injecting each other's asses in the Astros locker room.
  6. Why would you say that? I think it's pretty reasonable. I think it's nonsense to decide yes or no strictly on the basis of whether thy touched the stuff. And I think it's nonsense to ignore steroids and take Sosa's numbers at face value.
  7. Why? Too one dimensional? Because Bonds and Clemens had hall of fame careers, even when considering performance enhancements from steroids, and McGwire and Sosa didn't. It's as simple as that. Of course there is no good way to do it. It has to be a judgement call. But you can't just keep everyone out, and you can't ignore steroids either. Sosa would've arguably been a career .250 hitter with 400 career homeruns and a crap OBP McGwire's home run/BA totals in his mid 20's: 49/289 , 32/260 , 33/231 ,39/235 ,22/201 , 42/268 If you were linked to steroids, you can't give them the benefit of the doubt. If anything, you penalize them a little. So Sosa and McGwire are out. But Barry Bonds was a great player before he ever touched steroids, when McGwire and Sosa were hitting 60 homers. And he was absolutely inhuman, the most dominant player of all-time, in a time where up to 30-40% of players were juicing. Everyone is in a different situation. But you have to judge them case by case.
  8. Bonds and Clemens should be a lock. But I would definitely say no to Sosa and McGwire.
  9. If DRose comes back like Adrian Petersen, do the Bulls have a shot in hell at a title? Probably not, but it would at least be moderately interesting to watch them try.
  10. I always wondered why people bothered with stupid impersonal insults about girlfriends, wives, and mothers. But I guess its because some people are actually bothered by them. Who needs to compare you to a cancer patient when mentioning what your wife tastes like will do the trick.
  11. Maybe its because I don't live in Chicago. But I don't know how even the meatiest of all the meatballs in the world could possibly want Singletary as a coach. I can't believe such a meatball exists. In fact, there are plenty of Bears fans that don't even think Singletary was a great player.
  12. Zzzz. So worth it for Minnesota to win last week only to get killed in the first round without their starting qb. Sucks for them. But at least they played this week.
  13. An interesting read that makes you appreciate Thibs. But have Bulls have figured out the magic formula for beating the Heat? I highly doubt it.
  14. Fascinating. Tough to take him too seriously. But reading the column, he seems to have a clue about golf. He obviously doesn't have the credibility of a former player but a lot of golf analysts can't break 90. Lets face it. I think Norm McDonald knows a lot more about golf than David Feherty knows about comedy. Louis Oosthuizen is an intriguing pick. That dude has a ton of talent. When hes on he can be a machinr. I give him credit for picking a guy that's not Tiger or Rory.
  15. Sweet! Makes up for the embarrassment vs the Bobcats.
  16. I'm a huge fan of golf- both playing it and watching it. Not a personal fan of Tiger, but definitely rooting for him to get back to form. Because golf is better with a competitive Tiger Woods chasing Nicklaus' 18 majors. Despite all the hype about young guns, ie Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley, etc, Rory is the only guy I can see who has the talent to have a career even within the realm of Tiger's. He can win double digit majors. It would be exciting to see him battle Tiger for a few years. I think Tiger will get it together and win at least 1 major this year. Rory will continue as #1 in the world.
  17. Chip Kelley is apparently interviewing with the Bills, Browns and Eagles. No mention of the Bears. I'm a little disappointed in that. To me, he has the highest upside. Although admittedly he comes with lot of risk as well.
  18. Why are people down on Chip Kelly? Personally, I'd love that hire. All the experts claim the spread option wouldn't work in the NFL. But one thing that Kelly has shown is that he is an innovator. Why couldn't he adapt a system to the NFL. After all, he has shown the ability to be a visionary.
  19. I know Lovie is not an offensive coach, but geez. Neither was Bill Bellichick. You have to hold him accountable for the [expletive] offenses this team has consistently had. How does he get a pass when he was the head coach all these years. He does have some strengths. Players love him. They play hard for him. The defense has been decent. I won't even say good. I'll say decent. But the bad outweighs the good. When will we ever see him outscheme a good team in a big game? When will we ever see a good offense? Never with Lovie Smith.
  20. Considering how the Bears looked against a team trying to give it away, I'm not so upset.
  21. who's starting the Bears offseason thread?
  22. I expect nothing less. Being a Chicago sports fans sucks.
  23. How the [expletive] is he so open?
  24. It almost looks like there are more Packer fans than Vikings fans there.
  25. When is MD Jennings going to learn to defend the pass rather than try and pick it?
