  1. Last time I checked, I wasn't embarrassed by citing the 11% number. But it seems that we've drawn different conclusions from the same point. While I'm willing to examine whether or not conventional wisdom is correct, all you're willing to do is claim some sort of bizarre ownership of a point made by another publication and parrot the point that inside change-ups are dangerous because if its hit, it goes really, really, really far. I contend that change-ups go very far regardless of where they are thrown -- provided a hitter is sitting on the pitch.
  2. I think a few pages back Jon posted some pitch/fx charts that showed his FB has about 11 inches of tail. For reference, home plate is 17 inches wide. So a FB could start in the middle of home plate and end up 2.5 inches inside to a RH hitter (note mad math skillz). I saw his second appearance, and it appeared to me that his FB had some nice movement, but he was somewhat inconsistent with his control.
  3. Bartman had nothing to do with losing that game. Alex Gonzalez booting the ball did. Bartman is neither good nor bad karma for the team; he is merely a lifelong, die-hard fan who has been horribly subjected to inappropriate scrutiny, blame and melodrama.
  4. Isn't this typically when the trouble starts? I thought he usually had a couple of guys on base first...
  5. How many pitches is he up to? 129 according to gameday, but during the last half of this inning, CC's mechanics were breaking down a bit and he was clearly overthrowing.
  6. This is the kind of outing that can injure a pitcher. Even a guy like CC.
  7. Hey, if you can get Tex... I think he'd look great in LF.
  8. It's the cologne that Geovany Soto wears Ooooo! Good answer.
  9. I guess we can take that little bit of luck given the luck the Brewers have had on some well-hit balls.
  10. Him too.
  11. Welcome to the game threads. Cubs will still win, I think.
  12. First base umps really hate Theriot He was out by a step.
  13. That was a horrible send... and the only reason that play was at all close at first is because Fielder is a walrus. (Cue the bucket...)
  14. I would've had to, but I decided I didn't care enough. :banned:
  15. It was a questionable call, no doubt. But, as far as I'm concerned Blake gets no quarter. He's clearly insecure with his calls and he acts like he's a petty tyrant tasting power for the first time after decades of being bullied.
