  1. Oh, and for those counting, 1,170 of those strikeouts came with the Cubs.
  2. And I believe Len or Bob mentioned during his last start that no one has ever reached both milestones against the same opponent --- something Greg has a chance to do tonight. I didn't catch that... how awesome would that be? Incredibly awesome.
  3. I think it doesn't get the attention for two reasons: 1. Maddux himself downplays the accomplishment. 2. So many of those strikeouts happened while he was a Brave. Personally, I think it's a pretty big deal. There aren't too many pitchers who've struck out 3000 guys and have 300 wins. Greg is a special pitcher -- even today he's better than most.
  4. Murton needs to learn how to strike out.
  5. Bleh. Nothing good ever happens when they show the pitch from behind the plate. I hate that view.
  6. Didn't we see the busted bat out in a PH role last night? Yes. Yes, we did. One pitch. Ridiculous.
  7. That wasn't even close on strike one. It'd be nice if Hill got those kinds of calls.
  8. Hey all, just a reminder: keep it clean and keep it civil. Last night got out of hand, and it really wasn't acceptible. We will not let it slide tonight. That is all.
  9. ahahhahaha Maybe he'll decide he has no choice but to offer cincy over so much that they give in and trade him Milton. Milton would be a lot better in RFK than in GABP. I still wouldn't want him, but he's a flyball pitcher, and RFK is capacious in the power alleys.
  10. Put the wrong guy in for him though... Baby steps.
  11. Dusty double-switched Hollandsworth out of the game? Forfend!
  12. Why run in front of Pujols? That's almost Baker-esque.
  13. or i dont know save the bat and use maddux who could get the bunt down in his sleep. macias has as much business on a big league team as half of us in here. No argument from me.
  14. That was terrible. Prior would have been a better choice to hit there. At least he has a chance.
  15. Well, the good news is that we'll definitely have one -- and quite possibly more -- of our members there who can give us a report on Nomar.
  16. That's an excellent WHIP, and someone you ought to be trying to get on your pitching staff.
  17. Outstanding article. We need to link that article from the FAQ.
  18. Hendry can fire Baker, just as he hired him. While you are correct that many of the problems faced by the Cubs are caused, in my opinion, by Baker, Hendry shares culpability by providing the players and giving Baker the autonomy to misuse them. For example, if Hendry wants Remlinger used against righties, the kids to get a real chance to play, etc., etc., he needs to either lay down he law -- impose his will from above -- or fire Baker. If he shares Baker's philosophy... well, let's just say he's still guilty!
  19. No, you don't include HBP, and that's a distinct flaw. I've also thought that DP's should probably be included somehow, but then you're getting very complex.
  20. It is, you just have to post it in green. Sarcasm is allowed. And you don't have to post it in green, either. It's nice to give a hint, though, that you are being sarcastic.
