  1. http://danny-knobler.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/8590096/18695131?source=rss_blogs_MLB The Braves got him cheap and only a one year deal. I am still betting the Cubs end up with Dotel to mentor Marmol in next years pen.
  2. Im interested in him, but not if Castro or Vitters are necessary to make the trade work. Id also rather keep Cashner and Jackson, but if one of them are needed to make the deal, Id be OK with it. Detroit reportedly want major league ready players. Between Fox, Fuld, Colvin, Marshall, Gorzalanny, Samardzjia, and StevensI really think we can make something happen, and wed also probably have to kick them a solid prospect like Burke, Lee, Carpenter, Castillo, Archer, or Dolis. I don't think there is much of a chance the Cubs can get Granderson without giving up any of Castro/Vitters/Cashner/Jackson .
  3. By some form we keep Bradley, how much is Hendry looking at in terms of spending money for this offseason assuming his budget is $145.
  4. The Phillies will jump back into the mix as with Red Sox, Yankees, not a chance Cubs buy low without having to include at least Vitters or Castro. I'm in favor of selling high on Flaherty/Wells/Theriot. Hoping to avoid dealing Castro.
  5. You want to give up 3 of our top 10 prospects, a young cheap MLB proven starter and a good bullpen arm for ONE year of Halladay? Unless the Cubs feel like they are a WS contender there is no reason to empty the farm for one year of a player. Even then, I'd prefer they spend all those prospects on a top notch impact bat. But in that deal you keep Shark,Cashner,Castro, Jackson, Lee,Marmol,Soto, ect and after all is said and done Halladay might not just be a one year rental .Flaherty is blocked by Castro/Lee at this point.
  6. Randy Wells/Josh Vitters/ Jay Jackson/Sean Marshall/ Ryan Flaherty Is it enough to entice the Jays?

  8. Bradley is out and Jake Fox still can't find his way into the lineup.
  9. Jake Fox should be getting starts all over the diamond the rest of the way out. Bobby Scales?
  10. I always find it funny when folks are opposed to giving guys a minor league deal because there "Done". Just like how Reed Johnson and Jim Edmonds where washed up last year. Hows Andruw Jones doing this year? Not looking too shabby for a minor league deal. Lugo's hitting 284 this year 352 OBP? He's a huge upgrade over Blanco thats for sure.
  11. Fossom has been starting all season again in the minors any word if the Cubs will keep him starting until he gets a call up, with Marshall/Shark already in the pen.
  12. Soranio to 2b solves this . As bad as his defense could be , I am all for a Jake Fox return to Catching one game a week. 1b/3b/lf/C Lou can find plenty of at-bats for him.
  13. Fuld LF Fukodome CF Lee 1B Bradley RF Soranio 2B Fox 3B Soto C Theriot SS Zambrano Two days off and a return to his favorite postion could jump start Fonsie.
  14. It now looks like we will have to wait till after turkey day even if they were close which we haven't heard yet , I doubt they'll get anything done before Thursday.
  15. I like over any other center fielder free agents options out there not named Drew because the Cubs could always displace Lugo and move him to short or second.
  16. there's an la times article today that says that Lee doesn't want to go to the West Coast. Would that leave the Orioles?Red Sox? Astros? Cubs?
  17. Schmidt, Lugo at short, Jones/Izzy/Ohman for another starter. Floyd for the bench and another verteran left handed bat for insurance until Pie is ready.
  18. Why Let Dope go so early?
  19. Sullvian also mentioned Schmidt being a Cubs target the other night on WGN 720.
  20. So the Cub have around 25 million to spend on two starters at least and a center fielder? Man I hope they can dump Izzy and Jones on some other team and Ruschs retires so we can afford both Lugo and Schmidt.
  21. If the cubs manage to get a center fielder that can add to the already potent lineup and find a way to replace Izzy with a warm body we could get by with just Schmidt. I wouldn't mind if Hendry threw some low-base high incentive deals out there to Marquis and Mulder. Z Schmidt Hill Miller/Prior/Marshall/Marquis/Mulder/Guzman/Mateo/Omalley/Gallegher There's a lot of talent competing for those last two spots but also a lot of injury questions but the Cubs could gamble on these guys instead of throwing a long term deal at a guy like Lilly. With the strength of the pen and the offense Hendry could decide to see if any of those arms get healthy enough by the all-star break to make it a moot point. It won't be like last year where if are pitchers weren't perfect or healthy we would be sunk in the standings in June.
  22. Not happening with the Cubs. He's played for three big-league managers and none of the three has been fond of him. His most recent manager was in the Cubs system as a coach. I'm sure they still talk. So no, he's not coming here. I used to like you, Bruce... then you made me cry. Bruce any updates on who Hendrys target are for CF? A.Jones?Wells? GMJ? Any chance Carlos Lee takes a discount to come here and Soranio goes to center?
  23. ouch that sucks to lose a first round pick for Alou but I think he will have a really solid year for the Mets.
  24. I can see giving thanks for Soriano, and Schmidt. But is Floyd really that important of a peice? No not really I just think it has pretty good chance of getting wrapped up this week. It is nice to see Jim actually sign a good bench player though. Floyd is a power left handed bat off the bench late in the game and can play first base or left field plus DH for the interleague games. Floyd over Mabry is a pretty big upgrade.
  25. It would be nice to sit down at the table on T-day and know that Fonzie, Schmidt,Floyd were all in the fold aready.
