    If you think about it, that kind of contract might not be all to suprising if Hendry really is changing his style. Last year he was the slowest GM in baseball, and made barely any moves at the beginning of the offseason. Now, he will make a quick strike at a top FA target. That would be his final offer. If Drew and Boras took to long to look at the offer, and weren't definitive on an answer, Hendry will have moved on to another target for the the OF in a week or so. At least im hoping thats what this kind of large offer would mean. I think your right Jazz I think Hendry might change his style based on the way Frucal screwed them last season.

    5 outs away from a world series and 3 years later there's gonna be only big Z next year with the team if Wood and Ramirez bolt and Prior is slated for nothing more than a fifth starters role at best. White Sox and Cardinials come on when does this garbage end.

    I would like to Sammy return to majors leagues as DH for some team and hack his way to 30 homers for two more years and then retire.

    I thought Keith Law did an awesome job on his in depth writing for each guy on the list. Broke down all the Pitchers weapons and there deliverys. Didn't agree with everything he said but it was a good read and better than a lot of other garbage stuff espn spews out.

    Ramirez has to stay. I just just don't buy it Hendry has no leverage he has to sign Ramirez.

This could allow them to move one of there starters for an impact bat like Tejeda or Vernon Wells. My mind has changed on this I think Buster Olney info is so vague that it could very well prove to be wrong. I am holding out hope the only reports I have seen about him going to the Red Sox have been reports feeding off of the one Buster Olney made. Anyone else find it weird that Buster Olney would get this info and not Red Sox favorite Peter Gammons?

    I could see Baltimore throwing in a high bid and then walk away from the table just to keep him from the Red Sox or Yankees but I don't see the Red Sox doing that. Beckett Schilling Matzuka Wakefield Papelbon /Clement/Lester/Clemens is a pretty sweet rotation there has been some Talk that Clemens might return to Boston mid way through the season the way he did with the Astros that should give Boston enough Horse to beat out the Yanks. They also have Lester in the wings if his health allows him to pitch next season.

    Seems like another option along with Cuban and Wrigley as good possible suitors of the Cubs.

    I need to have some signs of hope here as it looks like DM bidding will be won be someone other than the Cubs and Ramirez is heading to free agency.

    Any chance that we can get Bruce Miles in for NSSB Q&A? We desperately need updates on Aram, DM's winning bid, J.D Drew, and Who's plan B at 3B?

    This whole fiasco that is Cubs Baseball is wearing thin and to start off this offseason by maybe losing Ramirez is just awful.

    I have feeling that Sheffield will be in right field next season and Hendry will try to spin Jones somewhere. The Yankees are trying to keep him away from the AL and with almost 5 million of his deal defffered if the Cubs can get him without giving up a ton of talent he would provide a huge upgrade over Jones at not much more in payroll. I hope Hendry would then go after Drew for Center field and leave Murton in Left field. With that outfield I would hope Hendry can find a good defensive fourth outfielder who can start some to fill in for the games Sheffield and Drew will need off. Durham Second leading off? Durham Murton Lee Drew Ramirez Sheffield Barrett Izturiz/Theriot/Cedeno Doesn't look to bad althought injuries are a concern with that group.

    We will see how serious the new Cubs President and Hendry are tonight about making a serious run for the World Series Next year if they come in with a winning bid.
