  1. The way he was acting? He deserves it. Matt is also sticking with his source. I'm inclined to stick with it as well
  2. Jesse Rogers is being a douche live. "I don't see this happening". He had a chance at the high road and didn't take it. Michael is never wrong. And I don't think Matt would run this if he wasn't sure. My read is that it's very close and it happens, but I'm basing that off of knowing Matt and trusting that Michael is never like that.
  3. I think this might be the case. There is so much happening.
  4. Jesse Rogers also saying "not so fast".
  5. There is real pushback across the internet right now. I cannot tell you either way.
  6. This is not done. This is not a completed trade.
  7. Not yet. Ayers and Kepley was the rumored ask yesterday. I expect those two names in there somewhere.
  8. Everything I had heard and seen with the rumors made me feel like this would happen. Oh yes.
  9. The Cubs will push this as far as they can. I'd expect them to go as long as they can on these controlled SP. Deadlines spur moves. And then pivot to fallbacks in the last 30
  10. It's like the Cubs signing Shelby Miller in the offseason; you have some extra resources so you hope that you can get something out of it. And if it doesn't, that's the benefit. Bubic might not pitch this year any more, or he might be a really fun playoff BP arm.
  11. Yeah. Definitely sounds like a team who...*checks notes*...decided not to sell. Right.
  12. Before anyone freaks out; the last time Evan posted that, it took 12 minutes for the Rangers to trade Josh Smith to the Blue Jays.
  13. He's always given up barrels. Even looking back three or four or five years ago. His hard hit% has been relatively high for the last three years. Think he just gives up more hard contact as he ages, but the whiff and everything is still so good that it's easily hidden.
  14. Feels that way. Last year Miami and the Nationals held almost all of the cards when it came to controllable SP. This year, you have options and a lot of rental options. The Cubs really have options to play each other off. I don't think the Angels can be left holding the bag on Detmers after moving off of Soriano and Adell. I don't think the Rangers want to keep all the money. The Mets suck and need to cash in on arms. There's a lot of movement you can find here.
  15. I know we're programmed to think "all HR's are a pitcher's fault" but he's +5 on xHR. Meaning it should be a lot lower. He's going to give up home runs, it's part of his game, but he has a sparkling xFIP and I think he needs to normalize.
  16. As Matt has pointed out, Texas gives the Cubs leverage. I really like where the Cubs are at in the market. They have a lot of places to run to and not everyone is going to be able to sell.
  17. Yeah, I wouldn't put them out. as Cozart is more of a backup and Ayers...well doesn't look that way. With that said, it might change the calculus a bit. For example, maybe Rojas becomes more attractive now.
  18. This is a fully uninformed opinion but my read is that the Cubs are actually in a good place to snag Detmers. - There was scuttle behind the scenes that the Angels had a higher price on Soriano. After that trade we're getting scuttle "no, we like Detmers more". (I think doth protest too much) - Detmers could legitimately turn back into a pumpkin. I don't think he will, but we can't pretend he has a long track record. LAA knows this too. - You cannot trade Soriano, Adell, and everyone you can to reboot and keep him I feel like the two will get there.
  19. It's looking fine. Don't panic. We have a long time to go. The Angels are clearly selling anything that isn't welded to the floor and the Mariners are still talking Kirby and Hancock. We're fine.
  20. Angels received Jacob Cozart, a 23 year old C from Cleveland for Adell. Not sure where that puts the Cubs on Detmers.
