Have to make the decision to invest 3 hrs every night to watch or check the box scores every morning. Watching these guys is exciting but also frustrating. We will lead mlb in k/ab for sure this year.

I agree but madden seems to like resting rookies. I fully expect Bryant and Soler rep wit Herrera and lake tmrw.

Was at a family gathering today, they all insisted that the cubs rookies are all gonna be busts. They served me a heavy dosage of K/AB stats.. then proceeded to use Joc Peterson and Jose Abreu as examples of what "cant miss" means.. After my rebuttal, they quickly pointed out several others over the years that were busts including Corey Patterson, Hee Sop Choi, Bobby Hill, Felix Pie, Brooks Keishnick, etc. tuff day to be a cubs fan .. yikes.

Oh c'mon, there's no reason to sit one of Russell, Castro, or Bryant for the light-hitting Herrera against a hittable pitcher when the wind figures to be blowing out again. Pretty much everyone looked bad today; Jonathan Herrera won't fix that. Tomorrow the kids will probably get a "mental" day off RF Lake CF Fowler LF Denforia 3B Coghlan SS Castro 2B Herrera 1B Rizzo C Castillo Yo 18k's against the Brewers is depressing btw.

Im not hating on Bryant at all, im more concerned for Soler. Its gonna be a fun season to watch but days like today will happen when we have a #5 vs. a #1 the pen is called in early and we have a couple errors. Btw, is Joc on the dodgers still qualified as a rookie?

voted 35 times x 3 emails. thats about all i got in the tank tho. These guys aside from Castro gonna need more homers to start. even tho the OPS is very healthy. HR's are just sexy

yeah the only other ace he has faced so far is shields on his debut night. due to the rain outs they have gotten lucky and not faced alot of #1 starters yet. Tyson Ross, Andrew Cashner off the top of my head na i dont consider them ace's they are #2's dont get me wrong they are pretty good but not "Aces" to me

now do billy hamilton Cubs: 17 PA, .250/.250/.375/.625, 5/5 SB Others: 69 PA, .210/.290/.306/.596, 8/9 SB seems like most of those hits were off the pen tho lol. (aside from lester vs. hamilton)

wind has been blowing in almost every home game so far. today was actually about 15 mph blowing in, lets be glad it was cuz pirates woulda had a couple dongs if it was blowing out.

I'll take it because even without Wainwright I don't think we're a better baseball team than they are. Agreed, our pitching overall isnt as good as theirs and we K a lot. but i still like our chances to get into the playoffs.

This combined with a rotation of say Price Cueto Lester Arietta This years 7th pick (yeah its a strech but yeh cubs have money...) holy fck what if they dipped and signed both next offseason? whats that rotation. Baez, if he can learn to take some pitches and get some hits like bryant deep in the count (rbi singles) he could be like Nolan Arenado. he has the D and speed to be a webgem monster at 3b No. No, no, no. Take the best college bat and never draft a pitcher high ever. Its reported that the college top end prospect pool is pretty thin this year... I think i read it on a BA article..

Nope, he's a catcher. If he were in any other org, then yes, he would be a LF/1B/DH. Thing is, we have a 1B, can't have a DH and most likely will need LF for Bryant. It's in our best interest to make him a catcher. Bryant seems to be handling 3B just fine. I'm very slightly concerned about the amount of time he takes to get rid of the ball and the potential for the yips to develop. It's probably irrational, but it's in the back of my mind every time he does that really long pause/wind up to throw it to first. A lot of those he's merely waiting for Rizzo to get to the bag. Watch any 3B on balls hit right to them. Watch the replays so many times Rizzo has had to step to the left and catch the ball, his accuracy is pretty shaky. -

Really glad to see this. AA had an awful start this year at MLB and also AAA. Great for the roster with his versatility if he can hit at all. Dangerous as **** if he can be a Zobrist type. My feeling on Alcantara coming up was always that I questioned his ability to hit at the pros because, while his K and BB rates are fine, I felt like he got aggressive at times. This makes me wonder if he can succeed with inconsistent playing time. He really needs those consistent 400-500 AB's. If he's a "Zobrist-type" and getting consistent starts ... perhaps. If he's not ... then I wonder. Even if he is a Zobrist type, if he's struggling and having to switch positions, that could wear on him mentally. I still believe that Alcantara is probably best utilized as trade bait to another team. ^ this, let Mendy tear up AAA and package him and Vogelbomb for something REALLLLLL nice :D
