  1. FIRST OF ALL I never been to Arkansas. Secondly excuse me for being a hipster.
  2. What does this say about Joe's talk with Castro ? lol I hope Castro dont lose it and call his "friends" down in the Dominican. http://cdn1.theodysseyonline.com/files/2014/11/14/635515967163120478318194316_michaelscott.gif c'mon we all know castro is a thug back home
  3. yeah i agree get a good pitcher, dump castro, call up baez and break the season record for K's while enjoying the wind blow in all the homers.

  5. Really hope they don't extend him so the Cubs have a shot in the offseason. If he does get extended who does that leave this offseason? Cueto, Gallardo, Kazmir, Kennedy, Lackey, Latos, Samardzija, Zimmerman Still some good names out there, but a lot less sexy without price I'd be really surprised if the Jays ended up extending Price, especially before he hits the market. While it is kinda disappointing to see so many big names elsewhere, I can say I'm happy the Cubs didn't beat the prices paid for Hamels and Price so far. I don't see how the Jays could possibly afford it. Between paying Tulo and having to replace Buehrle and Dickey, they'd have to jump their payroll up 20 or 30M. They have the richest owners in baseball. isnt there a 60/40 rule tho? I mean Rogers has a ton of money, but wouldnt the teams revenue limit the maximum expenditure they can do?
  6. god i hate braun and carlos gomez but.. at least aram is gone
  7. The fifth starter spot is a complete vacuum, not acquiring a SP of some measure is not an acceptable outcome. It doesn't have to be Tyson Ross or someone of his caliber, but there should be an urgency to make sure that there's a real major leaguer taking 20% of the remaining starts the Cubs have. :clapping: :good:
  8. It makes me think it's going to take Javy+Underwood+Eloy which would absolutely suck. With the cost for Hamels and Price, I think it takes the cubs out of the Ross picture unless they give a big haul for him... The guys contract is just arbitration eligible and also still 2 more years before FA after this season.. he will cost ALOT. Look at it soley based on FiP & K/9 lets take the factor that price/hamels have alot more playoff experience and have had "ACE" status for a while now.. Ross FiP #12 2.78 Price FiP #19 3.02 Hamels FiP #31 3.23 Ross K/9 #10 9.66 Price K/9 #27 8.51 Hamels K/9 #12 9.58 I mean Ross is arguably the best value of these 3 guys because he hasn't landed a big contract yet.. reminds me a lot of Arrieta... in the sense that he is one of the elite pitchers but isnt getting elite "hype" yet. I agree... I love Javy's upside but.. to think about it long term 2016 Rotation Price Arrieta Lester Ross Hammel/Hendricks? I mean thats pretty damn good
  9. So does the Hamels and Price trades put the cost for a guy like Ross out of the cubs radar?
  10. 27 years old 2015- 3.37ERA 3.74FIP 3.78xFIP 8.3K/9 1.5fWAR He's nothing special, but he'd be a better option than what they have at 5. The big problem is that he doesn't go very deep into games. He's averaging about 5 2/3IP per start. sounds like Kyle Hendricks who strikes out a few more guys
  11. Dodgers must have a secret tunnel to get in Fort Knox
  12. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he just struck out on 3 pitches, swinging at the last 2 out of the zone. gotta think since his name popped up on twitter regarding the padres he might have been kinda out of it today. I know, right? I mean one moment, you're hanging out with the boys. Next thing you know, Chris Valaika comes in, and he's all "hey, bro. Guess whose name's all over Twitter?" And Javy's all "who?" and Valaika's all "you." "The [expletive] are these fan boy bitches saying about me now?" Snapped Javy. "They're saying that the Padres have shown some level of interest in you." "The Padres?" Replied a suddenly attentive Javy, spewing Mr. Pibb all over Christian Villanueva's new Chucks. "[expletive] are the Padres showing interest in me for?" And with a casual shrug of the shoulders, Valaika replied "I guess they find you interesting." And then he left the room to prepare for work. As he was known to do in these situations, soft spoken, light hitting middle infielder Jonathan Mota scooched in and gently placed a brotherly hand on Javy's shoulder. "Don't even worry about it, man. These things pop up on Twitter all the time." "Don't even worry about it?" Snapped Javy, eliciting a reflexive flinch from gritty outfielder John Andreoli. "You heard what Josh Vitters said. I could be traded! You've been with this organization for what, sixteen years, and nobody's ever shown interest in you. How the [expletive] you going to tell me don't worry about it?" An apologetic Javy soon broke the deafening silence which he, himself had induced. "Listen, man," he assured Mota, who was now holding back tears of his own. "I was out of line, and you know I didn't mean what I said." After taking a deep breath, he added "but damn, that just [expletive] up my whole day. I just hope it doesn't effect my ability to keep my head in the game tonight." LOL thats almost like a movie scene there. Just saying you cant expect early 20's kids to not get emotional from time to time. Javy really wants to be a cub and really wants to help the team ASAP.
  13. It wouldnt surprise me if the dodgers give him his 200 million before the offseason either. There's absolutely no way that Friedman gives up Urias. Could be the tigers putting up a smoke screen to get one of the other teams to offer a top guy
  14. Im fine with the system just expand it to include all IFA and cuban players, it will increase the talent depth in the first several rounds
  15. It wouldnt surprise me if the dodgers give him his 200 million before the offseason either.
  16. Because God forbid they actually dare to move any of their precious, precious prospects when they don't have a 15 game-lead at the top of the division. Why do you want to go back to the Jim Hendry Way so badly? And nothing but gigantic contracts as far as the eye can see! I dont think it would be going back to the Jim Hendry way we already have how many homegrown guys on the big league roster? Why does it have to be an extreme "sell off alll the kidsssss" or "oh no, never!!!! i will never trade a piece unless i fleece them!"
  17. holy [expletive] kennedy has a 20% HR/FB Shields has a 17.9% HR/FB. There's something screwy going on with Kennedy and Shields. They have the highest HR/FB rates of their careers right now, despite most of their other peripherals (GB%, LD%, FB%, etc.) all being relatively similar to previous seasons. Shields you might could pin on his control issues (highest BB% of his career) and drop in velocity (nearly a full mph on all his pitches), but for the most part all of his peripherals (as well as Kennedy's) are all in line with career norms. There's no huge shift in most of those numbers that should suggest a huge drop in performance, except in HR/FB, which is inexplicably high this year. And it's not some weird thing where they had some bad games outside of Petco. Kennedy has given up 14 HR's at home vs. 8 on the road. Shields has given up 10 at home vs 11 on the road. So it's not like they had some bad outings in Colorado and Arizona or anything, they're giving up dongs at Petco, too. It's odd. Their SIERRA's and xFIP's are still showing they're doing far better than their numbers indicate. Kennedy SIERRA: 3.73 xFIP: 3.84 FIP: 5.25 ERA: 4.58 Shields: SIERRA: 3.30 xFIP: 3.30 FIP: 4.11 ERA: 3.77 So yeah, Petco is having an odd effect on these guys this year. To a lesser degree Craig Kimbrel is experiencing the same thing. Its interesting some of the parks are playing the opposite.. Wrigley has been like a pitchers park, PETCO a hitters park, the climate change is real. we even see it in baseball, i guess
  18. I didnt say its bad, but alot of the media hyped up KB to be the next coming of Mike Schmidt. Which if was true would be GQ level sexy.
  19. He's having a terrible season. Will be interesting to see the angst from us if/when he goes on a tear with STL He just became a cardinal and you know how it goes he will prolly hit .280 with 15 bombs between now and october.
  20. Yes they did. Read the Hamels thread. Hamels isnt a rental.
  21. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he just struck out on 3 pitches, swinging at the last 2 out of the zone. gotta think since his name popped up on twitter regarding the padres he might have been kinda out of it today.
  22. That's because you place really bad valuations on the present season and on prospects. Really, really bad. Lol, how so? who is not "worth it" for you in the farm system for a guy like leake or kennedy? I've acknowledged there are guys I'd deal for one of those guys. then since its common knowledge around here that no one wants to mortgage the "future" for a rental why did you even make it a point in the first place? no one said "hey man lets trade McKinney, Torres, and Edwards for a Price rental"...
  23. That's because you place really bad valuations on the present season and on prospects. Really, really bad. Lol, how so? who is not "worth it" for you in the farm system for a guy like leake or kennedy?
  24. You're going to be very disappointed when the actual 2016 Cubs show up looking remarkably like the 2015 Cubs, give or take a starting pitcher. i guess its just me, but i want to watch meaningful baseball as far into september / october as possible. the team is only 2.5 back with 7 games vs. the giants and what 3 vs. the dodgers? several vs. the pirates and cards? yeah its easy to say "hey man there is no chance" but the interesting thing is this team plays way better vs. good teams for some reason.. that 5th starter spot is just a sore eye, out of what 9 or 10 starts they will need a 5th having a better chance to win is important to regular ole cub fans like me. waiver deal for wandy rodriguez or picking up jason marquiz is the same or worse than a clayton richard... if pierce johnson is such a good prospect why not give him a shot?
  25. knowing the cards they will get carrasco and brantley
