Yeah, pretty sure Theo talks about it in the book The Cubs Way and implies they wouldnt ever get moved without ever coming out and saying the word "untouchable". He talks about how his plan to win for a number of years was he needed 4 position players as a foundation that he would build/draft/trade around, and that he was able to get those 4 guys (Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber and Russell) earlier than even they expected and was downright giddy about it.

Either he had trade value after he blew out his knee or he didnt - I'm not advocating for having traded him back then. Just saying he couldve been moved then for ML pieces if Theo really wanted to when it was implied that he couldnt.

Im divorced. I didnt want to be. Im good now but man, theres nothing worse than believing you found the person you will spend the rest of your life with, having kids with that person, and then finding out later that their feelings have changed and theres nothing you can do to change their mind. To go through all of that on top of knowing that friends and family probably suspect you must've done something wrong because they dont have the whole story - and they dont need to know the whole story, because it really isnt a story...its tough. Ive never really cared for Ben all that much off of the field before, but (without knowing any of the details) I can relate to what he's going through. To be away from the team and game he so obviously loves must mean what he's going through is brutal on him. I hope he's doing ok and makes it through.

Huh? The entire year he was out rehabbing his knee I swear he was the most talked about trade chip in the game. Im pretty sure NYY wanted him for Andrew Miller? I could be misremembering but it feels like that entire season he was hurt every trade leak or rumor involving the Cubs was that AL GMs still wanted him badly. He didn't really lose his value until the failed leadoff experiment and minor league demotion IMO.

Look, either the guy flashed this sign because he's either: A. a white supremacist (very bad) B. a 4chaner who loves owning libs (slightly less bad) C. a guy who plays a game where he flashes a sign and expects his friends to.. touch his leg trough the television? lol they can't, so now he wants to punch them? Because its funny somehow? (possibly the worst of the three) I just can't fathom a single situation here where a person like this should not be banned from a place like Wrigley Field.

I realize he is talking about celebrations on the field but its just so weird to me that he's taking this position when im pretty sure the Cubs still have a horsefeathering celebration area built into the lockerroom and a camera in the bullpen that exists only to capture our pitchers celebrating homeruns. Just shut up, Joe.

I stand by it. Red Sox are defending champs and their run differential is -26 (Cubs is only -13). Despite the one extra win, I’d say the Sox are currently in a worse place. Please stop. -

More people liked this post than actually criticized the deal. This is where I play the Derwood card and say that ive seen other people saying it on twitter and facebook? Cause I havent, and you're right, but that doesn't change the fact that I just really wanted to point out that Somehow Greg Maddux is somehow making Greg Maddux money, which I think is fun.
