If this was the Patriots they would have chosen the fall guy to be some intern not someone so high up. The Cardinals could learn a thing or two from the Patriots on how to cheat better!
There's no way that we are worse than San Francisco or Cleveland or Washington or Tennessee. We won't be a good team and we won't make the playoffs but there's 0 chance that we end up being the worst team in the league.
If this article is true and they fire Amaro and or Sandberg this should definitely make it easier to trade for the likes of Papelbon and Hamels. So fire Amaro now please! http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/25219403/inside-baseball-major-changes-ahead-for-declining-phillies-plus-more-mlb-news
Guys like Almora, Vogelbach, Mckinney, Edwards, Underwood, Alcantra should all be up for grabs in the right type of deal. No one is untouchable but I would only trade Russell/Schwarber for Mike Trout or Bryce Harper.
I am not really interested in Clippard. I think with Ramirez and Soriano coming soon the only pen arm we should be interested in if we are even interested in any at this point would be an elite closer like Chapman or Papelbon. Someone we can put in the 9th inning of meaningful games and not have to worry about him blowing it would be nice. Clippard wouldn't be that guy so I'd pass on him.
My top want is a starting pitcher to take Wada spot in the rotation even though he was good yesterday. They should probably target one of the rentals whether it's Kazmir or Cueto or someone along those lines. A bullpen arm use to be my top want but with Ramirez and Soriano on the way I think that's less of a necessity. I certainly wouldn't complain if they traded for someone like Chapman or Papelbon to close out games though. A guy like Zobrist who can play multiple positions which will allow us to give guys like Soler and our other young guys days off when they need them.
