    Ned Yost is a moron. You know how awesome Dusty is when it comes to bullpen overmanagement, confusing lineups, strange calls, and seemingly no understanding of the game on the field? Yost is equally awesome. The only difference is that he doesn't have much of a problem with playing young players. The hype the Brewers are getting is reminiscent of the hype the Arizona Cardinals got this past offseason in the NFL. Weak division, hungry young talent, etc. Problem is, they're becoming a chic playoff pick before the season. That's like the kiss of death.

    When we had that Q&A with Fleita, I asked him some questions about some of the guys down in Mesa who made positive impressions (I believe it was Puello, Gallagher, and Andy Santana). As memory serves me, he said that Gallagher had a great curve and was going to move fast and that Puello had a nice ceiling as an IF, but needed some time to develop. Santana he didn't say much about...I think. Still, kinda fun to see how his predictions are coming about. :)

    Lots of people on this forum wanted him to fall to the Cubs in the second round, including a couple of people who've seen him firsthand. Pawelek in the first and Veal in the second is a pretty good haul, though. Honestly, from everything I've read and heard about him, I wish him nothing but the best with Boston.

    I think this is the worst I've felt about a game since Hawkins' implosion against the Mets in 2004. In other words, I was confident, but I had a bad feeling that an ill wind was approaching. When they went down 10-0, I did not think that this team had what it took to come back. Strange how the offense was the unit that performed above and beyond all expectations today. Yet, the defense crumbled. It was something that I've been seeing ever since that debacle against Pittsburgh. They rallied against Atlanta, but then they went right back to sucking in Green Bay. This time around it wasn't poor tackling. Instead, it was a bad game plan. They let one guy shred them to pieces. I think this team has a much better future than the 2001 team did. They have younger players, more talent, and better coaching (although, after today, I have to wonder HOW much better). Grossman looked awesome when he shook off his early jitters. This is a team that could contend for the playoffs over the next few years on a regular basis. A few acquisitions need to be made through FA and the draft, but this team could make a Super Bowl run next season.

    My favorite Ryan Dempster moment was from this past season when he was miced up for Fox Saturday Baseball and did a Joe Buck impersonation that really ticked Buck off.

    If the line's at -2.5, that's showing a decent number of of people are piling on with Carolina, especially considering most home teams in the playoffs are almost automatic 3 point favorites. Personally, I think the Bears keep it close in the first half, but break it open in the second half when Foster and Delhomme begin to tire. Bears 20 Panthers 10

    Carolina's record in their past 6 games is 4-2. Two of those games were against Top 10 defenses. Guess which games they lost, at home, no less?
