Odds are, if you tried to kick Hendry in the junk, your foot would get stuck in one of his many folds of lard. Your body would slowly get sucked in, much like quicksand.
As much play as the hustle crap gets, I think the average fan knows that Ramirez is one of the best hitters on this team and losing him for some schmuck like DeRosa would be a decided step down.
I can't wait for ten years from now when the Cubs have an incredibly talented young player fall into their laps and then they screw up re-signing him and let him go on to huge success elsewhere. Maddux and Ramirez...who's next? David Price? Michael Main? Justin Jackson?
That's technically tampering. It's time to blow this team up. Trade everything of value, load up on prospects and young players, and just put the kibosh on the next two years.
Do they? I don't think anyone ever notices anything with us outside of obsessed White Sox and Cardinals fans. Considering one of the best young hitters in baseball hit the market, I think the baseball world noticed.
MLB said they would step in if anything like that happened. Also, the Red Sox have a strong need for starting pitching. They really could use Matsuzaka.
Would he even know? He's probably closer to the proceedings than Buster Olney. It could be possible that Olney got his hands on the Red Sox' bidding amount and thought that it was not going to be beat...only for another team to actually submit a higher amount. Or maybe he made something up. Who knows? It's not like Boras has anything to lose by telling everyone that.
