  1. I'll do the bad and the good with Veal... The Bad: His control and mechanics are completely out of whack. He has some really good pure stuff, but he has a lot of trouble harnessing it. Part of the advantage he has had so far is that most guys in the low minors aren't used to that kind of pure stuff. As he's advanced, better hitters have been able to make him pay. There's also an injury history with him, but he doesn't seem to have been bothered by anything since joining the Cubs. The Good: As mentioned above, he has really good stuff. When his mechanics are working, he has a good fastball and a nice curve to complement it. He's received Vida Blue comparisons, so his ceiling is really nice. We'll see what happens with him, but these kinds of guys normally don't hit their ceilings. I'd put him behind Gallagher and Samardzija on the pitching prospect list at this point.
  2. There's some good fishing to be had on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border along with plenty of good lakes in Kentucky. ...dude.
  3. You're welcome. I nominate this for post of the day.
  4. He sounds like a future ML reliever more than anything else, imo.
  5. Bay's numbers over the past three years (2005, 2006, 2007)... AVG: .306, .286, .247 OBP: .402, .396, .327 SLG: .559, .532, .418 IsoD: .096, .110, .080 IsoP: .253, .246, .171 HR: 32, 35, 21 K: 142, 156, 141 BB: 95, 102, 59 RC: 143, 126, 78 RC/27: 8.7, 7.8, 5.0 OPS+: 148, 136, 92 Bay turns 30 next season. While his three years numbers suggest a decline, his 2005 was his best season by far while 2006 appears more to be around his career averages. The critical question with Bay is whether or not his 2007 was a fluke. What gives me pause is the fact that all of his numbers in 2007 were down, from patience to power. That could be indicative of any number of things, correctable or otherwise. However, this would be a perfect buy low opportunity for Hendry. Bay's a talented young player who could potentially be had for relatively cheap. Moreover, even if Bay doesn't play up to his 2005/2006 numbers, he's likely to outproduce any one of Murton, Floyd, or Jones.
  6. The Rabbit? That's a good nickname.
  7. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/cin/images/email/2007/baker_hs_150.jpg I forgot about those cheeks. They look like he can store enough food in them to make it through winter.
  8. This quote from our ugly red-headed step sister board bears repeating...
  9. For those of you Reds fans out there, go into your toolbox and pull out a hammer. Take said hammer and smash yourself in the skull with it. Now you can think like Dusty!
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  11. One of Gallagher/Marshall/Mateo and Colvin, imo.
  12. Welcome aboard! He's played winter ball before, though.
  13. I think they'd net either a young guy who might put it all together and become a star or a star who is starting to go on the decline of his career. Overall, a B/B+ level player is possible, imo.
  14. Add Zito and they could easily have one of the top rotations in the game. Pitching is very important. Add Arod, and they aren't as far as people think. They don't have much else offensively, but they will probably have the most money to spend. We will see if Arod runs for the money again, like he did when he went to Texas. You want me to add him again? I have him as part of the front 3. Don't forget Noah Lowry. Decent 4/5 guy, but they'd be best served trading him to some sucker who thinks his numbers this year weren't fluky.
  15. Sure Hendry, twist the dagger a little bit more. We'd appreciate it.
  16. Take a leak in the pool.
  17. Hustle Heart Determination Whit...uh...Caucas...um...Grit!
  18. Don't the White Sox already hate A-Rod and Boras for using them as a way to drive up A-Rod's price back when he was a free agent? I could swear the White Sox came out and said they'd refuse to deal with Boras clients following that incident.
  19. Ahhhhhhhhhh, this is bringing back memories.
  20. I want to see A-Rod flip Yankee fans the double bird before this one ends.
  21. THERE'S A FLY BALL...WAY BACK...AND IT IS...caught in front of the track. That brings back memories.
  22. I hope to get in on the ground floor with this case after passing the bar. :D
