Jay Bruce would scare the crap out of me.

Didn't Clement say he wasn't comfortable with relieving? Not just uncomfortable; but his asthma would just kill him on the mound if he didn't get enough time to warm up. I think he needed something like 45 minutes before the game before he could pitch without being significantly affected by his asthma.

Not a bad move on their part. Then again, it'll be pretty hard to top the stupidity the Pirates have had to deal with these past few years.

He's in my money dynasty league and is by FAR the most frustrating player I've ever owned. He'll go on a tear for about a 3-4 week period of time, just putting up ungodly numbers. And then...he'll get injured. The "Q" next to his name got burned onto my monitor at one point because it never left. The number of times he was a late scratch over the past few years just made me nuts. I'm praying I can trade him mid-season this year. I've gotten really tired of banging my head against the wall because of him.

My gut is it'll be Beckett, but it should be someone else.

For those of you who are pro-clutch, how do you define clutch? Stemming from that, what do you use to measure whether a player is clutch?

For good reason. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they stay away from Logan White and Chris Antonetti. I'm hoping one of those two guys ends up replacing Jim Hendry.

Four years is a weak basis for establishing a strong correlation. His career numbers tend to show that he hits only a tick better with RISP.

IsoD is a much better metric at measuring that. Ditto P/PA Isn't that the same as above? What about stats of a batter with RISP? What about the fact that RsBI counts the batter in homeruns? It's not good for basing predictions on a player's future production. It fluctuates wildly depending on the quality of a player's team. I really think there are better ways to make those predictions.

Duke made a nice play. I thought that would bounce off of him or get past him with a weird hop.

In terms of a player's ability, what do you think RBI quantifies?
