  1. I think the only solace we can take in today's game is if Dusty decides to wreck Volquez's arm.
  2. If it gets washed out before the Cubs finish this at-bat, it'd be a postponement. Damn. Keep fouling it off, Fontenot!
  3. Remind me again, what are the rules on postponing and suspending games in terms of rain? Because if we can get this game PPD, that'd be awesome.
  4. Didn't Tim McCarver once say a walk was worse than a homerun?
  5. I'm not the only one who noticed a pirate flag on the riverboat, am I?
  6. Volquez has some wicked stuff today. Soto looks like the only one with a clue at the plate.
  7. Ha ha, Hairston never got fireworks. Soto is a handsome man.
  8. Admittedly, watching the commercial where the guy misses shooting crumpled up pieces of paper into the basket over his garbage is more entertaining hoops than the Celtics-Cavs game last night.
  9. You missed Adam Dunn, Joey Votto, Paul Bako, and Jerry Hairston hitting home runs in the 2nd inning No I heard those on XM, I didn't know that everyone who has ever played for the Reds went yard as well though. With the way Lieber was pitching, even the fans were itching for a chance to get some ABs against him.
  10. What a surprise, Joey Votto and Adam Dunn have HRs. ...as do Paul Bako and Jerry Hairston Jr. Guh.
  11. Cal (or anyone, for that matter), what can you tell me about Eric Thames? He's been rising up draft boards lately and apparently has done quite well despite playing against tough competition and in a pitcher-friendly park. I'm hopeful that the Cubs could pick up a falling draftee with big signing demands, but Thames strikes me as a possible target if the Cubs are looking to signability with a polished college bat.

  13. Lieber's going to get killed. I don't see how Adam Dunn and Joey Votto won't crush the ball off of him.

  15. Sadly, no. I interviewed at a bunch of places, but didn't get anything nailed down. I'm going to be working in-house somewhere. We'll see where. Too bad. Good luck. Thanks. I'm not too concerned about the job hunt for this summer. Finding a job before I graduate, on the other hand, is going to be entertaining.
  16. Brennamans 2 of them = Brennamen ;) ?? Clever. =D>

  18. Rick Hill's numbers so far tonight: 5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 5/1 K/BB, HR Former uber-prospect Jeremy Reed hit the HR. I'm guessing Hill gets another start down in Iowa, then gets called back up.
  19. Quite honestly, I think he's ticketed to a life of trading for Goldman Sachs. He's got the arrogant attitude that investment banks love to have on their payrolls. My dad is an investment banker for Goldman Sachs...yeah I guess he is an arrogant a-hole so I'm not really offended. I'm going to be working with those people for the rest of my life at the rate my education is going. Investment and business law is entertaining, but the people...well, yeah.
  20. Quite honestly, I think he's ticketed to a life of trading for Goldman Sachs. He's got the arrogant attitude that investment banks love to have on their payrolls. He's got the arrogant attitude that could make him a rogue trader that loses billions of dollars too. In this economy, most people simply shrug their shoulders at those kinds of things. Moreover, Kerviel wasn't alone over at SocGen.

  22. Banninated. I'm going to kind of miss him come MLB draft time. The dude was a jerk, but he knew his stuff. What caused the ban? http://nsbblol.wordpress.com/ That and he pretty much was continuously on the edge of getting banned ever since he started here. Quite honestly, if he didn't have a head for statistics, a very good working knowledge of baseball, and knew nothing about draft and minor league prospects, he would have been out of here in a heartbeat. The guy brought as much to the table as he took away.
