  1. Normally I'd agree, but this team has only drafted one HS pitcher since 2023, which is kind of insane when you think about it.
  2. I have fond memories of him in a Badgers uniform from my college days.
  3. That's a fun thought exercise, actually. If we're assuming Ballesteros, Alcantara, and Wiggins all exhaust their eligibility, who behind Conrad would be the most likely to be #1 this time next season? Rojas or Kepley if they show power? Hartshorn if he shows out? One of the international bonus babies?
  4. There's also an amorphous blob of hitters down in instructs/Low A who were international signings over the last 2-4 years and who appear to be rounding into shape as Guys to Watch, It's unlikely we'll see any of them hotshot their way onto Top 50 lists this coming season, but it's easy to dream on the idea that one or two of them might have a Jefferson Rojas-like breakthrough coming.
  5. Colvin is one of the few guys who've ever made me thought, "I might have just seen a guy die on television." That broken bat injury...woof.
  6. It's reminiscent of the early days for guys like Starlin Castro, Junior Lake, and Gleyber Torres, where the young for his league guy clearly has the present day tools to make an impression, but you're unsure if the end result is going to flame out in AAA, or perhaps be something better. Considering power is not one of Rojas' carrying tools, I'm not particularly concerned about it. Nico Hoerner has demonstrated how a MIF can be a valuable hitter without putting up .450+ SLG numbers, and Rojas seemingly has the hit tools and patience that should alleviate those concerns.
  7. Geovanny Soto. Old joke. I know. I'll instead go with Corey Patterson, and I maintain that the 2003 NLCS would have gone much more favorably for the Cubs if he hadn't blown out his knee (as much as I loved Kenny Lofton).
  8. I think it's situational. If a Top 10 guy they love slips into the 15-20 range, it would make sense, but I have zero idea who would fit the bill.
  9. Kinda sucks starting this thread up, but it feels refreshing going into an offseason feeling great about the Bears' QB situation. The Bears will pick 25th in the draft, and they also appear to have flexibility to make improvements through free agency. We can expect the Bears to focus on the DL and also the OL, with Trapilo's prognosis and recovery timeline likely to dictate how urgently the Bears will look at potential LTs.
  10. Ending this season with a Super Bowl MVP trophy would likely cement his place in the Pro Football HOF. Kinda insane to think about.
  11. I guess you could say this was Sean McDermott's 9/11.
  12. Add LT to my trade up target list, then. The odds this team finds his replacement in the 2nd round onwards are not great.
  13. I kinda feel like the roster is set enough that a trade for more picks in the 2026 draft wouldn't be the best move. The window is open now, and they can't afford to wait for multiple 2nd/3rd/4th round picks to develop, especially since those guys would mostly be depth and long term projects. They need starters and immediate contributors. If anything, I'd want them to trade up for a potential stud pass rusher, CB, or DT if someone falls out of the Top 10.
  14. Sigh. Great year, but there's work to be done in the offseason.
  15. I'm going to loathe this Super Bowl with all my heart and soul.
  16. I'm a bit skeptical of the rotation. I like it a lot on paper, but there will be a heavy reliance on guys who wore down at the end of 2025 (Imanaga and Boyd), guys who will likely be on inning/pitch restrictions due to prior injury concerns (Cabrera, Horton, Steele, and Wiggins), and a big pile of *shrug* that could outperform expectations (Taillon, Rea, Wicks, Brown, Assad). I really like their chances if everyone stays healthy. I just have to wonder what the rotation is going to look like come September.
  17. As an Illinois taxpayer, Indiana is welcome to that boondoggle. Let the Bears sell off AH to some developer who'll turn it into subdivisions and The Glen West, because everyone will be better off than a deal like that.
  18. If people are questioning Tucker's commitment and passion for baseball, and are using that as a reason not to sign or re-sign him, then it's fair game to question Shaw's priorities when he ducked out in the middle of a playoff race to attend...whatever the hell that was.
  19. I kinda get it with Conrad vs. Ballesteros, since Mo comes with prospect fatigue and it's easy to see him as a DH only guy, and Conrad would have likely been a Top 5 pick in the most recent draft if he were healthy. I don't agree with it, but I can see it. What I don't get are Hartshorn and Wing. Don't get me wrong, I like them both, but they were high ceiling high school prospects who are a long, long ways away. Cripes, Wing is still relatively new to pitching. To me, you either have to be extremely high on both, or have a very, very negative opinion on the Cubs' system to rank them that highly.
  20. Guys guys guys. We have to talk about getting Bregman to slide into 1st more often.
  21. The other unknown with Hoerner is how teams view his potential as a SS. He's been a 2B because he's playing next to one of the best defensive shortstops in the game. If a team thinks Nico can play SS well for the next 3-5 years, that could easily put a thumb on the scale in his favor for certain teams.
