  1. I can think of two situations off the top of my head when Lidge has blown it against the Cubs (Sosa's walkoff in the 10th a number of years ago and the Jeff Gordon Game in 2005). I'm not holding my breath, though.
  2. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...tough call. If he comes up with that cleanly, he'd have a shot at getting the runner. However, it's a long throw and the runner was going full speed. I've seen that scored a hit more often than not.
  3. Greg Maddux's tee times come immediately to mind.
  4. They let Charles Manson throw out the first pitch?
  5. Rule #1 of the BBWAA, there are always enough dumbass writers out there to make something happen. It's not coincidence that the association was headed by Schmuck for two years. I can't wait for Cliff Lee to win the AL Cy Young because he ends up with something like 22 wins and 2 losses. At least Lee has been the best starter in the AL this year. He's having a great season, but at least 70% of the BBWAA are going to look at his W-L record and not bother looking at anything else he did.

  7. Oh Cleavage Cam, you make even the worst games bearable.
  8. That and Lincecum's mechanics scare the crap out of a lot of people.
  9. i dunno if wisconsin is clearly better. i really like their team except for their qb, and that's only the most important position on the field. they're gonna struggle with teams that don't let them run at will. It's the same story year in, year out. The Badgers will have a strong running game, good offensive line, good receivers, capable at the least defense, and a QB who is mediocre at best. If they ever got a good QB, they'd be a yearly national title contender.
  10. I definitely think we make the playoffs this year, but the Brewers are far from done. They're 5.5 up in the wild card so it would be in Yost's best interests to not run CC out there for 115 pitches every start. He wore down last year and they need him healthy. And it's the Pirates. Let him throw one more inning, get around 100-105, and let the pen finish it. They have no intention or hope of re-signing him, so they are probably hoping he breaks down after the playoffs. I really wish Hendry could have figured out a way to get him to Chicago. We had no one in our system who could match LaPorta.
  11. That kind of happens when you're throwing your 6th starter out in front of one of the best offenses in baseball.
  12. I'm all for trading Cedeno away this offseason. He's not getting a chance to start regularly with the Cubs any time in the near future. I still think he has the goods to be an above average SS, but I don't see him becoming that with this team.
  13. For those of you wondering about the playoff picture for the affiliates, Iowa is in the PCL playoffs and Daytona needs a win today to make the FSL playoffs.

  15. Illinois: 121 Rushing Yards Juice Williams: 55 Rushing Yards Illinois needs to incorporate their RB into their offense more. Williams is a good dual threat, but part of the reason why they lost today was because they didn't have a running game to keep their defense off the field.
  16. Frankly, I think Mizzou would flatten every other team in the Big Ten with the exception of Ohio State. That would be a fun game to watch.
  17. This was an outright slugfest. I'm giving both of them credit; Mizzou for putting the Illini away and Illinois for never backing down. Illinois could win the Big 10 this year. They won't have to worry much about passing attacks on Mizzou's level from other teams in the Big 10.
  18. The WR never had possession. That should be ruled an INT.
  19. That's the final nail.
  20. Piss-poor call there. Daniel had to run 7 yards to get the first.
