  1. Remember when the Cardinals were considered a sound defensive team?
  2. Underrated thing about the Cubs' broadcasts: No roving reporters. The Cards' broadcast is currently dedicating a lot of time to interviewing the St. Louis Blues' President/GM/Whatever.
  3. Al Hrabosky wants every AB to end in a HBP, apparently.
  4. Meatball down the middle gets Glaus looking.
  5. Men on first and second, no outs for the Cards. Also, you apparently can take Ryan Ludwick to school with you if you win a contest.
  6. The RBI double pretty much died in the dirt. That was odd.
  7. You mean other teams' star players occasionally chase bad pitches way out of the zone, too?!
  8. That was decidedly Cub-like on the Cardinals' part.
  9. Is Hrabosky out taking a dump or something? I haven't heard him in the booth this entire inning.
  10. The Cardinals with a stellar defensive display there.
  11. Yeap. I'm watching the Brewers feed. And yes, I'm an idiot because there are probably 3 or 4 other things I could be doing that would be more fun. Between the two teams' broadcasters, I have a hard time deciding which I hate more. On the one hand, Hrabosky is a crotchety bastard, but still has a decent grasp on the game. On the other hand, the Brewers' announcers are a bit easier on the ears, but they don't sound like they know or care much about baseball.
  12. Who else is tormenting themselves and watching this? I got it on the Cardinals feed.
  13. He's the latest in the Cardinals' "Super Soldier" program, their genetic engineering intiative to produce an army of defensively-challenged first baseman/outfielder/DH types. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_408219.jpg This was their first subject, using Dave Duncan's DNA as the base. As you can see, it has since experienced quite a bit of clonal degeneration, as the process was imperfect. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_458628.jpghttp://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_458036.jpg Their second two efforts have been marginally more successful, at least as far as the degeneration goes, but between the two of them they're hitting about .200, so the program is still searching for its first perfect subject. Meet the next prototype, Brett Wallace: http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/1143/430180hy5.jpg
  14. What an absolute nightmare. You know, I have to wonder if this was part of Boras' plans all along.
  15. Already being discussed.

  17. Rebel needs to start hitting over the Mendoza line at Peoria if he wants to begin next year at Daytona. I don't think the Cubs have ever cared much about batting averages when it comes to bumping guys up to Daytona. Jost has to end up in full season ball if the Cubs plan on doing anything with him. Maybe he'll end up in Daytona, but I get the feeling he'll be in Peoria next season.
  18. Preceding that with the always popular "roll over" option.
  19. I can see situations where the ground rule double would be unfair to the team on offense. Those hits could be triples or could have scored runners from first.
  20. Just when I think the Cubs can't get any better at failing, the Mets come along and set the bar even lower.
  21. 1B Bryan Jost should be at Peoria. I'm guessing Ridling/Johnston/Rosa/Smith will share DH at Daytona.
