  1. Turner has also played his way into Top 5 consideration, from what I've been reading lately. Now, granted, Porcello was similarly considered to be a potential Top 5 pick. However, unlike Porcello in 2007, I don't think there are guys comparable to Wieters/Vitters/Moustakas/Parker/etc. in this draft. Considering the upper tier of this draft has been so in flux with flawed pitchers and flawed hitters, it'll be harder for teams in the Top 5/Top 10 to pass on Turner than it was in 2007 when teams passed on Porcello left and right.
  2. Casey Lambert gets the start for Tennessee. Tennessee is up 1-0 in the early going thanks to a Tony Thomas leadoff double and Blake Lalli driving him in with a single.
  3. Of those names, Oliver and Green have been struggling the most so far, while Turner and Paxton have seen their names skyrocket up the board. I don't think any of those four will make it to the Cubs, though.

  5. Sounds like the weather was awful. His line is a bit disappointing, but I'm guessing the rain didn't help tonight.
  6. That's it, I'm changing this Game Thread's title.
  7. In retrospect, me giving up on the season when Ramirez went down was a brilliant idea!
  8. Somehow, the Cubs managed to top their pathetic showing the last inning. I'm intrigued to see how they follow that one up.
  9. Has anyone on this team watched the Cardinals over the past few days?
  10. I'm vaguely hoping he charges the mound so that Lilly can truck him. Again.
  11. I never got the appeal of the Arch. Who wants to look down on St. Louis and the flatlands?
  12. Oops, sorry didnt realize that word was bad, but yet we can say the other word for penis? :D Former Cubs coach [expletive] [expletive] doesn't like it, either. And yes, that word was bad. Be glad some of us have the courtesy to change it. :beee:
  13. Might want to double check the filter the next time you post something dude.
  14. Depends on the deal. I'd trade Vitters for Peavy straight up, but I'd be enormously reluctant to do something like Vitters/Thomas/Jackson/Marshall for Peavy. I really like Vitters, but I don't think he's untradeable.
  15. I've given up on projecting Samardzija's career. I feel like the guy could either become the next Cubs ace or he could retire from baseball tomorrow, sign with the Bears, and become Jay Cutler's top receiver over the next 10 years. Every time I get down on him, he goes and puts up really good numbers. Every time I'm excited for him, he stinks up the joint. So, rather than try to figure him out, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.
  16. i knew who this was going to be before i clicked on it. that guy had a career IsoD of .060 in the minors, and his ability to hit bad balls is legendary, so vitters has a lot of work to do. I'm not saying he doesn't. However, Vlad in his first two seasons in the minors put up IsoDs of .052 and .050, which isn't all that great. However, as he got older, his plate discipline became much more refined and he did a much better job of taking walks. It goes to show you that improvements are possible with guys who profile like Vitters.
