  1. Low risk, high reward type of guy. He was a top prospect with the Mariners for a few years.
  2. No way Ludwick is the ugliest outfielder on that team. Hello? Not safe for children; gah!
  3. They...didn't...score...? Gorzelanny clearly is not a Cubs pitcher.
  4. Yep. He needed to jump higher to catch that. And by "higher", you mean an inch off the ground. He jumped like an inch off the ground in the first place.
  5. Yep. He needed to jump higher to catch that.
  6. Robb Nen in 2002 was Dusty's crowning achievement, imo. With Prior, you can argue that his career actually came to a screeching halt thanks to his collision with the midget 2B and taking a screaming liner off his pitching arm, rather than high pitch counts. With Wood, you can argue the abuse he suffered through HS was what hurt his career the most. But Nen? It was so abundantly clear the guy was injured. He had nothing left in the tank, but Dusty kept trotting him out there night after night, even in the playoffs to the point where Nen was throwing batting practice in the World Series. Nen's admitted that he basically knew he was jeopardizing his career pitching in his condition. Yet, Dusty didn't know, didn't care, or looked the other way.
  7. Considering it's a newer stadium and field, they should have a pretty solid drainage system in place. The game might be delayed a bit, but this one should happen tonight.
  8. Aaron Miles after 21 games (87 ABs) with the I-Cubs: .253/.267/.299/.566 with 4 2Bs, 0 3Bs, 0 HRs, and 5 errors GRIT!
  9. JA Happ looks pretty good for the Phils so far.
  10. I don't see any more than RH power option off the bench for Ridling in his future. He has very good power, but his other hitting tools are not particularly noteworthy for someone who's relegated to 1B. His defense isn't all that great, either.

  12. He's got some bat speed, somewhat level maybe too much of an uppercut at this stage, but has some decent pop. I don't think he's going to be an all-star at the plate. He might be someone that can hit .275-.285 with 10-20 HRs per year and play CF'er. He can get pull happy at times and that might hurt his avg. as he progresses. His 2 BBs weren't counts where he had to work they were both all balls that were well out of the zone (low and away). I think I he'll be better than the draft day reports from BA and PG. Thanks for your reports! How did LeMahieu look?
  13. I'm still underwhelmed with the draft on the whole, but signing another big HS name or two would definitely help. I'd probably give it a C right now and will probably end up giving it a C+ overall once the last few signings are announced, unless they do something unexpected like sign Walker, Esquivel, Sheppard, and Whaley.
  14. His previous suspension for steroid use gives me some pause when looking at the success he had early in his career. Moreover, while he is age-appropriate, his past production suggests that he should be pitching at a much higher level than the NWL. He's definitely an intriguing prospect and I wouldn't argue with someone for putting him in their Top 20. However, from my perspective, I'd prefer to wait and see.

  16. I'm still not 100% sure what to think about Tony Thomas. On the one hand, his strikeouts are slightly down, his walks have increased noticeably, and he's hitting more HRs. On the other hand, his batting average and power numbers are not a whole lot different from last year. I have to keep reminding myself that he turned 23 less than a month ago and is still relatively young for AA. However, considering a number of us thought he had a really disappointing season last year, and he's putting up somewhat comparable numbers in AA this year, I'm not quite sure where he fits rankings-wise in this system.
  17. There's a range of guys roughly from 7-15 who could be ranked pretty much in any order. Colvin would be among them, imo.
  18. Going to see him when the Chiefs return to Peoria; possibly next week depending on how my schedule pans out. I really want to see him, LeMahieu, and Archer.
  19. And none too soon! You think they can compete for the Pacific Coast League Championship with that kind of production from their second baseman?

  21. I want Tim to start a Hall of Fame Thread Forum. This one needs to be preserved in the annals of history for others to experience and enjoy.
  22. Must not have lost any weight, guess he can just stay there till he does.... Eh, he was fairly pudgy in summer of last year. I don't think the weight is that much of an issue. http://northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55237#p2255593 Woooosh O_O I think you owe me a beer at the upcoming Chiefs game for that one :D I can never keep straight who's said what about Soto! Regardless, there shall be shenanigans afoot at that Chiefs game.
