  1. It's like they booked a mediocre cover band to play the halftime show.
  2. The chick with a perm has a decent voice.
  3. I asked him a question about some of the lesser-known Pacific Rim guys in the system. My gut is that he doesn't have much info on any of them, but it'd be nice to learn a bit more about guys like Spencer and Hams. As for my picks... Well-known Cubs: OF Brett Jackson and P Andrew Cashner Responding to Tim's remark about Vitters being the only potential 3/4 hitter in our system, I think Brett Jackson has the potential to fit that mold. He doesn't have Vitters' raw power, but he has a really tantalizing combination of power, speed, and patience to go with the ability to play CF very well. Frankly, I think he has it in him to be a Top 10 prospect in all of baseball, although that would require plenty of things to break in his favor next season. As for Cashner, he has some of the best pure stuff in the Cubs' system. It's hard not to get excited over a guy like him, especially if he can show he's a good starter. Sleepers: OF Dong-Yub Kim and P Jon Nagel I'm intrigued with what I read about Kim down in instructs. The Cubs forked over six figures for him and apparently he might be a five tool OF. That'd be pretty nice to have. Unless he blows everyone away in spring training, I don't see him starting in full season ball. I'm guessing he'll be in Boise. As for Nagel, I think he's been lost in the shuffle. He has TJS back in 2008 and the Cubs were enormously cautious with him in Boise last season. However, he had pretty nice strikeout numbers to go with a strong groundball rate. I have a pretty good feeling about him next season. Non-Cubs Prospects: SP Stephen Strasburg and C Buster Posey Kind of obvious picks, but I'm really excited to see what they can do in the majors.
  4. Volquez will probably be back around the All Star break, last I heard.
  5. I'm looking forward to Miles leading off in at least 80 games.
  6. Not to mention that most of those 7 things involve the health of a pitching staff overseen by Dusty Baker.
  7. Obama was just in the announcers' booth calling the Duke/Georgetown game. That was rather amusing.
  8. Might as well close this thread on a high note.
  9. I remember Tyler Colvin had some issues coming back from Tommy John Surgery early in the 2009 season, which limited him mostly to DH and bench duty in Daytona at the start of the season. Sometimes guys can be a bit rusty or sore in coming back from that surgery.
  10. I've liked Lowry for awhile, so I'd be in favor of this move if he's fully healthy.
  11. This is the best post you've ever made in your life. Seconded

  14. Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did. He could have thrown the ball away if he didn't have it in him to run, to boot.
  15. Hey everybody, we're gonna get laid! http://content9.flixster.com/photo/67/80/28/6780283_tml.jpg
  16. Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo Actually, it comes down to the timeout called with 19 seconds left. They should have let the clock run down, called timeout, and kicked the FG.
  17. I want the following things to happen: 1) Brett Favre retires 2) Vikings draft Tebow as a QB 3) Brett Favre unretires
  18. Is there really more to do in Jersey than Indianapolis?
  19. I like this, but please keep it to a one year deal.
  20. I think Cashner's the most likely candidate out of the Top 10 to end up with the Cubs at some point this season. It's easy to envision Lou Piniella being unhappy with the bullpen and wanting Cashner up as soon as possible to add reinforcements and have a guy who can easily be shuttled back and forth to help with roster issues.
  21. New or old? Metrodome, sure. I forgot about the new one, I don't think I've seen a game played there. It's actually a really nice stadium. Pictures
