  1. Guy who's been bouncing around organizations as a Minor League Free Agent for the past few years. He sounds like organizational fodder. Hopefully the +1 ends up being intriguing.
  2. Isn't Cafardo one of the mouthpieces for the Red Sox? I'm almost positive he's the one who kept claiming that the Cubs were the ones who broke their promises regarding the Theo compensation.

  6. The problem is, the Padres ended up spending a little over $11m on their 2011 draft. The Cubs ended up spending a little over $5m on their 2010 draft, and that's only after including Szczur's post-draft bonus.

  10. I was about to say something snarky, but then the Hawks scored. Yay.
  11. The linesman was flinching and getting the hell out of the way of Hossa going down...yet didn't call anything. Unreal.
  12. Johnny Oduya is hot garbage. As far as I can tell, his sole purpose in hockey is to turn the puck over.
  13. I always figured he was one of those Mike Fontenot Sneaky Power types.

  16. Lots of free baseball today. Kind of unusual to see. Good to see Zapata have a strong debut with Peoria.
  17. Oops. While its significantly better, .297 isn't wow in the PCL either with that kind of K rate. Not that I don't like Jackson, just curious as to what his ceiling is. I don't think he's a superstar in the making, but he does a lot of things well enough that he should be a productive major league ballplayer. Someone once brought up Ray Lankford as a comp, which works pretty well in my opinion. He could make a handful of All Star games in his career, but I think he's more of a building block than a cornerstone, if that makes sense.
  18. Cruz with a much better outing this time around.
  19. And then was scene on camera wiping his nose and rubbing his head like nothing happened. Also, I'm not too worried about Shaw: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2791/4093950406_8cb48d5493_o.jpg

  21. I honestly only see him making that kind of progress if the Cubs move him to 3B or the OF. If the Cubs have any intention of keeping him at SS, I think that sort of thing will require a good amount of time and patience in order for him to become an acceptable defender at the major league level. It's possible, but I think 2015 is best case scenario for Baez at SS at this point, unless he's a hell of a lot better defensively than the pre-draft reports led me to believe.

  23. I think I have a new favorite prospect.
