  1. Thoughts? Id like to get this thread back on track to Baez. Not the biggest Baez fan. I believe we already have plenty of power and plenty of swing and miss. That said he's at the point you throw him to the wolves and see what he does. Give him a few months of regular playing time and if he slumps give him a shot to work out of it. No more kid gloves. If he is hitting .200 at the end of May, he's a defensive sub who can gives guys days off and sees 200-300 ABs a season. If he can .230+ with the expected power then he's a starter who you try to find 500 ABs by subbing him all over (2b, SS, 3b, OF). If he's the latter he'll probably take over 2b full-time next year and make Zobrist the super sub. Personally, if he's the latter, I'd rather trade him. Like I said we have plenty of power and too much swing and miss in the lineup already.
  2. Well I was going to comment but then I saw this thread instantly turned into one man's ego trip.
  3. Football was played different 40+ years ago? No way! Dolphins had the best defense and great power run game. They made games short and limited the number of possessions as well as limiting risk as much as possible. That was Shula's game plan. They ran the ball 50 times in each Super bowl and had leads from start to finish. I'm well aware that football was played differently 40 years ago. In Super Bowl I, the Packers led the whole way with the exception of a few minutes when they were tied. Bart Starr threw 23 passes in that game. They led the whole way the next year also and Starr threw 24 passes. He threw for over 200 yards in each game. The two Griese games were the two fewest attempts by a Super Bowl winning QB who played the whole game (Unitas had 9 but he got hurt and didn't play the whole game). There are only two instances of a QB throwing less than 18 passes in a Super Bowl win and it took Griese two games to reach that. Right, but it shouldn't be surprising considering the team. Griese averaged 15 or so passes a game and like I said the Dolphins jumped out to leads in both games. Dolphins almost exclusively passed only when they had to. 3rd and longs, down late ... etc.

  5. Actually the West Coast offense was started in the 1970's by Paul Brown of the Bengals. I believe Bill Walsh was an asst. coach. QBs like Virgil Carter and Ken Anderson ran it and then Bill Walsh took it to Stanford and then onto the 49ers. Bill Walsh was the OC and invented the offense while there and was widely believed to be the heir to Brown. Instead Brown betrayed him after promising he would tag Walsh as the new HC. Walsh actually decided to retire and went home to the Bay area. Stanford heard he was living there and called him and begged him to be there coach. Rest is history. Anyways, point is Walsh invented it as the OC. Brown's role was that he tried to steal the credit.
  6. Key word is convictions though. Not many actually get convicted. Winston would have still be eligible for instance. The weapons part will probably be the biggest deal.

  8. At first I took this as a threesome joke but then I realized it was meant to mean something else entirely. Something much more sinister.
  9. Uh, he has been for a longtime. Just not a good head coach.
  10. They were 5th. Baltimore dominated that year.
  11. How many drops for Carolina? Cotchery has a few by himself.
  12. Denver's defense is legit. No doubt. Not taking away from them. Just saying Carolina offensively isn't playing full speed, with confidence. They have the dazed, this game is huge look some teams get in the SB. Hopefully they snap out of it.
  13. As far as the game is concerned ... Carolina offense looks dazed. The non-catch should have been an easy catch but got bobbled, oline is getting dominated. They just don't seem to have the same confidence at this point.
  14. Nose touched when he first hit which is when the ball first moved. Am I 100% certain? No. But it iseems possible if not likely and the call was incomplete on the field.
  15. The timeline ESPN has for Manziel is insane. He's worse than I thought. Figured he liked to party too much and that affected his play. Judging from the timeline, he's a severe alcoholic on the verge of a serious life threatening event and a confirmed woman beater. In other words, he's the perfect free agent for Jerry Jones.
  16. Which they deserved. They weren't forcing fouls.
  17. Thibs is a decent coach but top 2-3 in the league he certainly isn't. Pop, Kerr, Rivers, Carlisle ... then a group that Thibs is probably in. Kerr has coached one year with an amazing amount of talent. Luke Walton is going as well or better. Jury out on Kerr vs thibs. Difficult to compare. Rivers has had the most talented team in the NBA about a half dozen times over the last 10 seasons. He also had Thinbs next to him when he was making finals appearances. I consider him way overrated. Carlisle is good I guess. Not sure how to rate him vs thibs because he's basically thibs with 10 more years of chances to win. Also he's enjoyed more talent than thibs has had as a head coach. Bottom line I think thibs is arguable the second name of pick to coach my team. He instantly brings credibility to your team. He makes 3 journeymen on your team into 3-year contract caliber players. He instills a defensive philosophy that results in half of his heavy minute players being considered too defenders in the league (out of nowhere) and his offense results in pretty solid guard play. Everybody rebounds better than they had historically. Hahahahahahaha ... if he was the second best coach he wouldn't be unemployed

  19. Unless it's PSU football /bitter I just think postseason bans are wrong. You can do fines or even restrict scholarships. But let the kids currently there achieve what their play merits.
  20. He's improved steadily all season. Definitely not good but he's been decent since January started. Look at his supporting cast. He's got the biggest ball hog in the league and a bunch of trash. On an average team he'd be getting a few more assists and a few more open shots a game.
  21. Personally, I think it is a crock of horsefeathers. You're punishing kids who had nothing to do with it. They should do fines, punish the school not the present day players.
  22. You've got to be on the DVD site for searching because they are still there. What site? I'm just reading the reply they sent me in reply to the mailed request. Ah. Either all copies are spoken for or they got rid of it for DVDs. Still can stream though.
  23. They're there. I just checked on my phone. It's says right here - We are unable to send this DVD to you at this time You've got to be on the DVD site for searching because they are still there.
  24. Seconded Thirded
