  1. SPeaking of rule V, who is elligable this year?
  2. Crap, I loved the Ice man. oh well, hopefully he figured it out in texas.
  3. DOH. i'll fix that. And Constable, go read "the 2006 thread" in transactions, or at least the first page to get an idea of whats going on here.
  4. As always, please do not vote unless you are partaking/reading along with "The 2006 Thread" in Transactions.
  5. Oh, and with that, I'm going to put up a poll with the names we have pooled together so far. Top three vote-getters names will move on for more consideration.
  6. "Be careful, don't trip while you're backtracking." sounds fairly offensive to me. I think the mods will back me up on this one. If not you'll have my full appologies.
  7. I'm not a mod, but i think i'm in the right in asking you to keep the personal stuff to a minimum.
  8. No i'm not. I gave his final stats from every year since 2000. But to be fair, lets compare nomars WORST years to Furcals BEST. 2003 Furcal: .292/.352/.443 15 HR 61 RBI 2005 Nomar: .283/.320/.452 9 HR 30 RBI (62 Games) How about nomars worst season of 140+ games? 2003 Furcal: .292/.352/.443 15 HR 61 RBI 2003 Nomar: .301/.345/.524 28 HR 105 RBI BTW, you may say nomars problem is injury, but over 10 years he has only played less than 130 games 4 times, and one was his rookie year.
  9. People Are making Furcal out to be this huge difference maker, sorry, he's really not. - He's never batted above .300 - He's only topped a .350 OBP twice, once only by two points (granted he got on at .248 once also) To be fair, in nomars worst years, he has put up equal numbers (OBP, AVG) to what furcal does year to year. I'm not saying he's not good. He is. But he's not worth fifty million or whatever insane amount he wants.
  10. What in the blazes does that have to do with anything. The goal is to get top production out of each position. You wont find any (save Arod) Bobby Abreu's or Barry Bonds at short stop. As for him being nothing special.... Dude has a .320 career average. Since 2000 (when he was stellar, as you pointed out) he has batted .289(injury shortened), .310, .301, .321/.297 (redsox/cubs), and .283 (he batted well above .300 after the injury). Those stats are still VERY good and still put him atop most of the other SS's baseball. And cheaper too.
  11. I'd rather bring back nomar for cheap with the risk of injury. Nomar at his best is better than Furcal at his. And if nomar flops, throw Cedeno in there. Save the money now, use it on taking on some contract in a trade (or something)
  12. I hate how every player that had a down year in 2005 will be suspected of steroids.** **Just a general observation, nothing against your specific statment.
  13. Well, ok, so lets just take a quick recap, these are the names i've seen brought up so far: - Patterson - Lofton - Wilkerson - Pierre - Bradley Am I missing anyone? Also, just a thought. Abreu has played 19 Games in center over his 10 year career. I dont know how likely it would be that we could actually get him off Philli's hands (though there have been a couple rumors that he may be on the trading block) and even then would he want to play center. Just a thought. Probably not realistic at all....just a thought.
  14. Allright, So i dont feel like sifting through 14 Premium pages to figure out all the specifics. What I got from teh first page is that it was reported on ESPN1000 that The cubs were finishing up a deal with for pierre, in exchange for two minor leaguers. And then we started guessing who those two might be. Where have we gotten from there?
  15. Earlier in the game, the ump blew (and I mean really blew) a call at home plate. He called the Cubs runner out when he was clearly safe. I don't think he was doing that great of a job on balls and strikes either. Anyway, Mongo gets up to sing, and before the music starts says something like "Don't worry, I'm gonna have a talk with that home plate umpire after the game!" Hernandez did the "you're out of the game" gesture, and Mongo was ejected from the stadium. But damn, was it funny. I still hate Angel Hernandez to this day for that. I dont so much remember the out/safe call, however. The big one I remember was a strike 3 call on Ron Coomer. Angel called Coomer out on a pitch that was LITERALLY at his forehead. And I'm not exaggerating. Coomer just stood there with this totally dumbfounded look on his face, he couldnt even argue. He looked like he just watched a pissant eat a bale of hay. I thought i was going to bust a lung when McMichael said that.
  16. The real question for me is, is there any way to get Adam Dunn off thier hands without giving up Pie. This assuming the reds gm would even think about trading dunn within the division.
  17. So, I want Dunn. And apparently so does Hendry (along w/ kearns). What are the chances of them actually trading anybody (mainly dunn) this offseason. Especially to a division rival. Also, has anyone read/heard anything about hendry contacting cincy (recently)?
  18. You know, I like where Poudre is going with this. Lets just look at our Lineup so far: 1b- DLee 2b- Walker SS- Nomar 3b- Ramirez LF- Murton Cf- ? RF- Giles C- Barrett That could equate to something like this: Murton Walker Lee Giles Ramirez Nomar Barrett Patterson Patterson is in red, because of course he is hypothetical. But look at that. from 1-7 (you can arrange them any way you like) that is a very solid lineup. You can live with patterson in the 8th spot. Let corey last you untill september (or whenever Pie is ready) and then you dont waste too much cash. You can use the money you save to go pick up a SP or build yourself a pen. Dusty probably believes Murton can't lead off, for a variety of reasons. That aside, it's a very good lineup. DOnt worry about what dusty would do, his name will come up in this thread also, and i would be willing to bet he will no longer be the manager...
  19. Jones? OMG, kill me now plz
