  1. The cubs shall be victorious. Hopefully.
  2. Yeah, go. They're going to do everything they can to get this in. There may be a delay but I don't see them completely canceling the second game in a row. LOL, I always chuckle when I hear this. They're going to do everything they can to get this in? What are they going to do ... change the weather? I think he just means they will wait out a lengthy rain delay if needed so the cubs don't end up getting booked solid from May to August. That's exactly what I mean. Though I haven't heard anything, it would just stand as a decent assumption - based on my past experience - that Wrigley would try their hardest to get this game in. Even if that means delaying it. I could be completely off here, but that would seem like their MO in a situation like this.
  3. Things like this should not make me laugh. but they do.
  4. Hinrich got destroyed on a double screen on that play which is why Allen was so open (and Noah was left to guard him) Yeah. The thing that got me was they Celts ran that exact same play at least three times in the 4th quarter in the exact same spot and Allen drained 3's in every instance. All I'm saying is I think everyone could have seen that coming a mile away.
  5. I've always kind of liked Sheff.
  6. Fun story: Last year I was walking through the concourse after the game and LaRussa was walking out towards the team bus. He had two or three Crowd Control guys by him so the crowd didn't bother him and such, which isn't necessarily unusual for any player. Anyway, one of the fans made some comment about his drunk-driving incident and LaRussa called him an SOB and he had to be held back by security so he didn't go and punch the guy. Moderately amusing.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4085478 Good for the little league team. Like they say, everyone knows Dukes could afford it, but it's kind of cool that the LL team is stepping up like this.
  8. Those are some really good seats.
  9. Yeah, go. They're going to do everything they can to get this in. There may be a delay but I don't see them completely canceling the second game in a row. If it does get called, would they do a day-night tomorrow? This early in the season against a team we'll play as often as cincinnati? Doubtful. July 23 looks like a plausible date for a make-up if it were to be needed. The cubs and reds both have the day off before they start a series at wrigley. It would have to be a night game because the Reds have a late game against the dodgers the day before, but it's plausible. Granted, this is a complete and total guess.
  10. Yeah, well. A poor choice of words or not I just flat out missed that he played Saturday. Anyway, is there anything that you guys would like to see added to these recaps stat wise or just commentary wise? I'm kind of feeling around in the dark as of right now until I can figure out exactly how I want to do them. Also, does anyone know how to sort stats on baseball reference? That is, it allows you to do "past 7 days" and such. But once you hit that the other splits disappear. That is, what if I want to see how, say, only the relievers have pitched in the last 7 days? Any help on this front would be greatly appreciated (also if there's another site that makes this easier, that would be cool too)
  11. Yeah, go. They're going to do everything they can to get this in. There may be a delay but I don't see them completely canceling the second game in a row.
  12. Yeah I was watching the end of that game and, come on, who didn't see that coming? As soon as they in-bounded I said "they better watch for Allen," then as soon as he popped free I knew it was over.
  13. Nah, it blew out for portions of the cards series - just not very hard. That said, I'm sure glad Lilly isn't pitching tonight. Though, the side effect is that Harden's customary 1 solo HR will fly about 40 feet further tonight.
  14. I read that as "not fielded", which is technically correct. Uh..yeah. Dude, that's totally what I meant... 8-)
  15. Oh god that weather is going to be miserable.
  16. Yes, the bullpen did give up the 1 run lead in that game. But they also only gave up 1 run in 5 innings, and it seemed wrong to imply that game as an example of where they pitched poorly. And this one: Bradley pinch-hit on Saturday and grounded out. Ramirez was fine as a pick as the hitter of the week, although Lee and Kosuke had great weeks as well, and Ramirez only played 3 out of the 5 games this week while the other two played all 5. To the point about Bradley - I completely missed that he pinch hit on Saturday - that's my mistake. And yeah, Kosuke was my next choice as hitter of the week, and he probably would have won if not for Ramirez' annual badassery rearing its head Saturday.
  17. Wow. I just got back from covering a super-exciting school board meeting and I turn on the TV just in time to see miller hit a 3 to take the lead. Wow.
  18. Eric Patterson needs to work on his grammar
  19. First, there is this piece of hilarity: Elijah Dukes was fined, benched, and threatened with a minor-league demotion because he was late to the game. By five minutes. Because he got out of doing CHARITY WORK FOR A LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM a little late. Then there are these fun pictures: http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_mlb_experts__25/ept_sports_mlb_experts-54271263-1240160708.jpg?ymE3OIBDSsJs2izE lol, Nationals, you rock. 20. Well, in the Loop we're in the middle of that little dry-spot on the radar right now. I still don't think things look very promising but I called in and as of now everything is still a go. If we're going to play this one I hope it's either played in it's entirety without any delays (unlikely) or we at least get through 5 before the rain becomes too much and we can make it official. I don't want to drag this crap out all night.
  21. The weather doesn't exactly look promising.
  22. Seriously. The guy is a monster.
  23. Looks like someone's been pounding the Wang this year. Apparently everyone is pounding the wang this year.
  24. That was certainly an entertaining game. Kind of a hostile crowd (understatement) but one hell of a game.
  25. This game is like torture to watch. I'm done. blah.
