  1. i hate foul balls too. none of them seemed to be hit hard though.
  2. Izzy is $4.5M annually i think. $2.25 remaining @ @ $700,000 in relief.
  3. Great news. i dont care about how much cash trades hands or who they get in return.
  4. I can handle a bad 1st half but the BB/K ratio is alarming. Up to this year his BB/K ratio was more walks than ks (awesome). Now he is striking out TWICE as much, a complete 180 from the hitter he has been in the past.
  5. According to the Bears message board, Rosenhaus said that they will get a 1-year deal done by training camp. It certainly sounds like Briggs knows he lost this battle and won't sit out any part of the season. Clayton was on ESPN saying for that to happen the Bears need to give up the franchise tag in 2008. So it aint over yet.
  6. 'At the expense' usually isnt a good thing to say. If you mean by at the expense of Koyie its fantastic. If its at the expense of Soto its bad.
  7. Im all for promoting Donaldson.
  8. For those three to "succeed" they will have to be competent relievers in the big leagues and mediocre catchers (unless Petrick goes back in the rotation). In a prospect ranking, you have to consider ceiling too, otherwise it's really nothing more than a list of guys who are more likely make it to the big leagues. I see nothing wrong with Gallagher or Veal being ranked ahead of Colvin (and I guess I can see the argument for Soto, but I'd disagree) but Petrick and Blevins are future big league relievers. Probably never, considering he's slowed down big time from his start and given his mediocre stuff. I guess thats why i disagree with some of the rankings. 'Ceilings' i think are valued too much. Middle relievers hardly ever get any recongnition but yet have solid productive careers. And i wonder how much of this ranking has to do with his draft slot the year before. Many publications and people considered Colvin a reach, and now with a so-so year + he is 60? I dont get that.
  9. Colvin my ass. I can think of guys more likely to succeed in MLB than him not even mentioned of these Cubs 5. Petrick Soto Blevins Gallagher and EPatt should be ahead of him on this list too.
  10. How the hell does a guy batting .197 and slugging .298 get 40 RBIs? Lugo-.197/.298=40RBI Manny-.284/.465=45RBI Ortiz-.314/.556=52RBIS Youk-.328/.502=44RBIs Youk has 4 more HRs and 4 more RBIS, so he isnt driving in anymore baserunners than Lugo. Manny has 6 more HRs but only 5 more RBI so Lugo is actually driving in more baserunners than Manny. Ortiz has only driven in 3 more baserunners than Lugo.
  11. Soto is Wuertz 2006 Part Deux. Soto tears up AAA, MW tears up AAA. Replace Novoa with Koyie Hill. Didnt want to expose Novoa to waivers, dont want to do it to Hill. Um, aint nobody gonna take Hill and keep him on their roster and if they do good for them. Call this guy up now. .341/.412/.996 Koyie .148/.217/.447 (That .447 isnt his slugging thats his OPS!) 61 at bats. For him to be productive he needs to cream the crap out of the ball pronto. Apparently the revolving door for the minor leagues and the majors only works for Bullpen help. Not for something as unimportant as a starting catcher.
  12. Well, he is called Pat the Bat. Is he still called that anymore? Where is he going to play RF. Oh boy.
