  1. Pffft. All you need for U2 is the best of 1980-1990 album. That will do it for you right there. The only way to get the feel for Led Zeppelin is to buy EVERY SINGLE ALBUM. Period. Otherwise you are doing yourself a tremendous diservice. And you know what....they have a frickn box set of all ten albums. Nobody in their right mind would want a box set of all U2 albums. Go away Bono, go very far away.
  2. Nightrain. So rockn. Pink Floyd just doesnt float my boat that much. For as much recognition Dark Side of The Moon gets i really didnt find it all that interesting and ive been in the 'right state of mind' listening to the album. I dont really care for the use of sound effects. Now, i would be interested in going to see The Wizard of Oz with the Dark Side of The Moon in the background. A theatre where i used to live had that as a feature for couple weeks. Paradise City video is so awesome. When i hear the first couple chords of that song on the radio i instantly turn it up. It fires me up like a rockn song should.
  3. You had to pick the Beatles' most mellow song to compare to About to Rock? Tell me you've heard the White Album? There's some very heavy stuff on there, especially for its time. It wasnt meant as a side to side comparison. Yesterday is one of my favorites off the top of my head. I listen to more Beatles than AC/DC, BUT... if i want to go all Dee Syder and Want To Rock, ill go with AC/DC for a couple of their better hits. Could i listen to AC/DC everyday...hell no. Revolution and Back in USSR isnt really the same thing as Highway to Hell, Shoot to Thrill, Have a Drink on Me, Hells Bells, TNT and Its A Long Way to The Top.
  4. Apparently there are a lot of Monster Truck fans here ....But not as many 'Boy Band' fans around here. Werent the Beatles really the first boy band that teenage girls went gaga over? All joking aside, The Beatles are a better band, they had better albums and better hit singles. I have more Beatles albums than AC/DC. I had the Highway to Hell tape in HS but i cant find it anymore. But with that if i have choice to listen to song on the radio I would listen to For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) over something like Yesterday. Yesterday is a better song i would just prefer to listen to a more rockin song because of my taste, so i voted AC/DC.
  5. Pantera. The rock anthem that will live forever... To see To bleed Cannot be taught In turn You're making us Oooh F**** hostile
  6. I like both these bands a lot. I probably listen to CCR more than The Doors now but if im in the mood for the Doors i prefer that more than CCR, so i voted for Jim and the gang. John Fogerty is great, too bad he got screwed and doesnt own the stuff anymore.
  7. Yes. Bleach for the debut album is rather amatuerish. It was in my CD jukebox a couple weeks ago, i hadnt listened to it in years, man its pretty unispriring except for About A Girl. Nevermind is a great album. Incesticide is a cover album that ok. In Utero is overproduced and isnt anything special. Unplugged is great but they are all songs done before except for a few. They have 1 solid album. Now its SOLID, but they have just one. I still lke them more than cream because of this one album. Bleach was recorded for about $200, of course it sounds amateurish. There are only 4 covers on Incesticide. The rest is unreleased recordings. Nevermind didn't sound amateurish enough. Cobain thought it sounded like a Motley Crue record and I totally agree, to my ears it sounds very similar to Dr. Feelgood, which is why I never liked it. Just another reason i guess for him to put another bullet in the chamber. I never did understand when he killed himself why all the fans got all depressed and felt like they lost someone of their 'own'. I liked their music but when he died i didnt feel like sitting in a circle with a bunch of people i dont know to light a candle for him. He wasnt the genius he was made out to be either.

Creed spent about $4,000 for their first album and its was a much better album than Bleach.

  10. I dont keep up with metal that much more but from what i hear a lot if it sounds like death metal without the death and everything black part.
  11. Novoa has not improved on his secondary pitch. I dont care how hard you throw you need a secondary pitch. Wuertz secondary pitch is so much better than Novoa but his fastball isnt 97. Wuerz' changeup is nasty, nothing about Novoa is nasty except all the homeruns he gives up. His era would be worse but all the runs he gave up on sunday were unearned. And the unearned had nothing to do with him, they were unearned baserunners marshall gave up. Bastard got lucky.
  12. ....Ozzy would kick his ass twice :D
  13. Well thats a nicer way of saying it than NWA did. :)
  14. He is a jerk.....but he kicks ass on the 'skins'. Lars Ulrich is not a good drummer. and the Clash is not a good band, so there you have it. plus good drummer or not, lars co-wrote most of their best music I wasn't questioning his songwriting ability, nor did I say anything about the Clash. I was correcting cubweiser03, because Lars is a second rate drummer at best. what makes him second rate? His one dynamic level - LOUD. The man plays with zero dynamic contrast, and I don't think he's ever played an unaccented note in his life. Back in the day he had fast feet, but that was it. Any idiot can crank out a ton a double-bass notes, but that doesn't make them a good drummer. Well this is what most metal fans look for in a drummer. I cant tell you if Lars is the most technical drummer but for metal he is very good. Not many drummers back in the days were smacking the double bass like he was and that was very cool. He's no John Bonham but he aint a douchebag either. I dont know if Metallica does it anymore but when i saw them in the late 80's both Lars and James had a drum off which was pretty cool. James wasnt to bad himself, or is it he sucked less
  15. He is a jerk.....but he kicks ass on the 'skins'.
  16. REM. To me these guys were the anti-rock of my generation. Its not that they sucked, they put out some good songs. I just hated them. Michael Stipe danced like a total wimp. I mean cmon, who didnt want to knock him out after seeing him dance on those videos? Rock Gods do not dance like him. Strike one. Michael Stipe was waay to political for my taste, everything was a cause, how bout rockin out brother, nobody cares what you think. Strike Two. Shiny Happy People??? Strike Three....He gone. Jimi all the way on this one.
  17. What song by Genesis 'defines them'? If somebody says Land of Confusion they need to get their ears checked for wax. Invisible Touch? Get yourself into a psycheward NOW.
  18. Right on. Sabbath rocked, CSNY didnt. Did CSNY Sell their soul for Rock N Roll? No. Its Sabbath here.
  19. Time to let the Led out. Flea vs John Paul Jones. Flea is probably regarded as the best musician in RHCP (or at least most popular). John Paul Jones is probably the least regarded musician as far as Led Zep (or at least the least popular). And John Paul Jones walks all over Flea. Thats how good Zep is people. Their worst is better than almost everybody elses best. No need for this supergroup mumble jumble crap, we got it; Its called Led Zeppelin.
  20. This is Cedeno's first full year and ive been more impressed than i thought. Sure he makes some bad throws and flubs some easy ones but hes very athletic and can make some very difficult plays. He has the ability to be a above average defensive SS with more seasoning. Also, i dont share the view that this coaching staff is totally incompentant . Aramis wasn't a very good 3b when he came to chicago but he has improved his defense a lot since he came here. I think some of that has to do with coaching.
  21. I voted SP because i prefer louder music. Thats all.
  22. TEN....or also known as Mookie Blaylock AWESOME. VS. is solid but why on earth does 'Daughter' get radio airplay? I cant stand that one. Vitalogy i didnt really care for. I reluctantly bought Yield and was suprised after my Pearl Jam hietous(sp) that i like that CD. Some solid tunes.
  23. Yes, DMB in the right mood. And its been said twice and thats still not enough....Daves double disc with Tim Reynolds is absolutely amazing. Its an accoustic guitar disc that i totally love to crank. Siamese Dream is so cool. Living in college it was push play and fire one up. Very original sound.
  24. Aerosmiths' 70's stuff was great. And some of their 80's stuff was also very good. I don't like what they've done since the mid 90's (although I love the rockin' rollar coaster ride at Disney that has an Aerosmith tie-in) but I don't think it's any worse than many of the other bands that held on past their prime to keep cashing checks. White Stripes is decent. They are a nice change of pace. But after loading them into my Ipod and putting it on shuffle I've noticed how annoying they can be over time. They are like a niche band, even though they had a run there for a while of being the darlings of music media. I got to go with Aerosmith here. I agree totally with both of your stuff about Aerosmith. My vote is because i like the old 'classic' stuff of Aero more than WS. Joe Perry is an arrogant prick but still voted for still them.
  25. Thats definetly the better of their "Rock N Roll" songs. I cant stand Rock N Roll All Night. Everytime i hear it on the radio now i change the station immediately.
