  1. your family realizes that the cubs are 17 games above .500, right?
  2. other than shark, there's not a sox player that i really care about either way. although, love me some chris sale
  3. 31 pitches, great start. and it's not like the usual 7,8,9 coming up with denorfia, castro (crosses fingers), and russell
  4. and it's easy enough to PH Soler for Coghlan later in the game if the sox bring in zach duke to face schwarber, coghlan and rizzo.
  5. soler sitting today makes sense, as coghlan will sit with quintana and sale going this weekend
  6. my god, not only was albert pujols' slash line absolutely absurd, but look at that BB%/K% rate
  7. i've noticed that his voice is definitely aging, but does he have health concerns that I'm not aware of? pat hughes becoming the radio PBP coincided with the start of my real cubs fandom (in a following every game sense), i feel like he's a major part of my summer childhood.
  8. my gf gives me the eye roll and has started going to bed early, she's great
  9. does anyone know where they were last night
  10. bumpkins refer to any part of a big city as downtown, i've learned over the years this is true Around the NYC area people say "going into the city" but I always heard suburban chicagoans say "going downtown" no matter where they were going inside the city limits. chicago suburbanites say going into the city
  11. jeez, did rizzo really chase two awful pitches? gameday has swinging strike 3 in the right handed batters box
  12. i'd be surprised if he didn't get the call in september... there's the potential upside of incremental improvement over castro's offensive production and then you have the ability to move baez all over the infield- we know maddon's affinity for javy's defense. also gives the opportunity to give guys like bryant and russell a day or two off during the stretch run, to the extent it makes sense.
  13. No, I'm talking about years past when this forum and the Cubs were good or decent. These full season other game threads have been a more recent (maybe last 4-5 years?) thing...I'll check. I think if we made one every day there would be more activity. It would be nice to limit all the "[expletive] The Giants just scored to make it 2-0" posts to a daily Other Games thread. having single day threads might make more sense if when later in the season there's some very aggressive scoreboard watching.
