  1. DLee is the only class on this team. Keep him.
  2. Has Prior been placed on the 60 day DL? That would open up a spot on the 40 man roster.
  3. Has anyone heard who is left at Fitch other than the obvious names of Wood, Prior, Mateo, Marshall, Harvey and Fuld. I am sure that Rundle, Cliff Anderson, Huseby, Cuevas, Suarez and others are still working away. When I was at Fitch, I didnt notice Sammy Baez. Is he still in the organization?
  4. That looks like a good lineup really.
  5. Sam Fuld must have gotten hurt during camp. I believe he played in a couple of parent team games earlier.
  6. Who will be SS at Iowa? It looks like the Smokies are going to be short of Of'ers with Harvey and Fuld being left at Fitch.
  7. This kinda reminds me of Christmas. Love it.
  8. thanks Craig. You are the man. Some of my thoughts on this process. I would love to be a little fly on the wall when these decisions are made. Does this mean that Chris Shaver and JR Mathis are going to Iowa? I am surprized that Pignietello is going back to AA. Is Grant Johnson in the Tenn. bullpen? My guess on the Latin connection at Peoria. ( Ceda, Santo, Jimenez, Pina). Starters at Iowa. ( Prior, Marmol, Marshall, Shaver, Mathis).
  9. When will the minor lge rosters be officially announced?
  10. I thought he was heading to Fitch and was going to send out some updates.
  11. I saw Brownlie in Az. I bet he wasnt throwing 80 MPH.
  12. Fontenot was indeed in camp when I was at Fitch. He was working out with the Iowa Cubs at 3b.
  13. It looks like the Iowa Cubs will have a very interesting team. I see one major hole in their infield. With Ronny Cedeno set in Chicago as a backup, who is left in Iowa? Candidates: Tomas Perez Scott Moore Carlos Rojas Maybe this is why the rumors persist about Barmes and Andino. Am I missing other candidates?
  14. My guess is that Wuertz, Ohman, Cotts, and Guzman make the team. Wood I would assume, will stay in Ariz. to get some innings and that Cherry will be sent to Iowa and be the closer.
  15. Fleita told me personally that Hill had flunked his physical because of a bad back.
  16. Is there access to the minor lge exibition box scores antwhere?
  17. I did not see Hagerty,Blasko, or Petrick throw any bullpens. That doesnt mean they didnt. I just didnt catch them.
  18. I am guessing, but Ceda looked about 6'4'' and about 225. Looked like an animal who was in good shape. Suarez seemed to be in good shape too. No fat on his body. Dolis is more slender and raw. Cuevas and Estrada are really tall. In the 6'8" range. Saw Brownlie throw a bullpen. The fastball wasnt there, but it was early in camp. Any other questions? Ask away.
  19. Some of the Latin arms who I saw throw bullpen sessions were Rafael Dolis, Larry Suarez, Greibal Cueves, and Jose Ceda. Ceda was very impressive with his stuff and control. By the way, Jodie Davis remarked that Samardzija was pitching his way off the Daytona staff. I think I saw him face about 10/12 batters with the big Cubbies and I think he broke 6/7 bats. He was by far the MOST impressive young thrower I saw.
  20. Chadd Blasko, Luke Hagerty, and Billy Petrick seemed to be taking part in all the drills. Mitch Atkins was very impressive. Throwing very hard and was almost unhittable during his BP session. Mike Mahoney was only coaching and wasnt taking part in any drills as a player. Jake Muyco was very impressive behind the plate and seemed to be making good contact at the dish. Matt Craig was working at 3b and 1b during drills. Steve Clevenger was working out with the catchers. I was impressed with the size of the pitchers. Some real big dudes. There was close to 190 players in the minor lge camp. There also was over 20 managers and coaches. Drew Rundle and Cliff Anderson were impressive in the cage. Wilson Inoa was switch hitting. Matt Camp was at 2b. Lots of young Latins in camp. Yusaf Carter looks like a future stud. David Segui was in camp as a batting coach.
  21. I will list most of the guys I saw working out with the Iowa group. C- Corey Meyers, Tony Richie, and Chris Robinson 1b- Jason Hart, Jesse Hoorebeck, Val Pascucci 2b- Jemel Spearman, Derek Wathan 3b- Mike Fontenot, and Matt Craig ss- Gary Cates Of_ Tony Miller, Josh Kroeger, Jorge Cortez P- JR Mathes, Chris Shaver, Nate Bland, Geoff Jones, Aldaberto Mendez, Frederico Baez, Felipe Almonte, Cory Bailey, Jim Henderson, Tom Atlee. This was before the Monday cut downs.
  22. Pawelek was at Fitch but unfortunatly I didnt get to see him throw.
  23. I did not see Mike Harkey at the minor lge camp. Anybody know what happened to him?
  24. The minor lge process is the greatest thing in the world. I will process my notes shortly.
