  1. Well Strasburg has been pumping in first pitch strikes and Zobrist is one of the most likely Cubs hitters to take the first pitch, and he already swung at the first pitch his last time up so...
  2. They will likely get to him at some point. Only the first time through the order
  3. I know it is by strategy that he's swinging early but damn 2 ABS 2 pitches from your leadoff guy?
  4. Lol everyone knew that pitch was going to be offspeed and low and Javy couldn't help himself
  5. Solid inning but gave up hard contact to 3 of 4 batters. Let's go offense
  6. How I expect this series to go for the Nats: http://static.celebuzz.com/uploads/2015/05/Mad-Men-Pete-Falls-Down-Stairs-050515.gif
  7. I'd be ok if he brought back "Alive". Not that it's any better of a song but for nostalgia sake
  8. From Nats Park, today's batting practice HR leaders: Zimmerman, WAS...13 Almora, CHC............10 Schwarber, CHC......10 Bryant, CHC..............9 Rizzo, CHC................9 Russell, CHC.............8 Murphy, WAS............7 Harper, WAS.............6 Heyward, CHC..........6 Lind, WAS.................5 Robles, WAS.............5 Oh so Rondon does still have a role in this series
  9. One thing i don't like is the take that the Cubs "have experience" and that's an advantage. Did the Cubs have experience edge when they donged the Cardinals to death in 2015? Did the Mets have the advantage of experience when they turned around and swept the Cubs in the last round? Or the Indians last year, or the Royals in 2014, etc. I can understand the "been through battles and know what to expect" but there's also a "too young and too stupid to feel pressure" aspect. Either way, a good manager will keep the team focused, distractions minimal, and have his players ready for any situation they might encounter. I don't know how much of an effect it actually has but I will say Joe's teams always seem to do well in the postseason while Dusty has presided over some of the bigger collapses in both the playoffs and regular season this millennium.
  10. ^^ Haha, I always think thats weird that they interview the next game's starters before the previous game is even played.
  11. I read this as "Basically the only way the Cubs can win this is if the Nats screw up. The Cubs players have little to do with the outcome"
  12. Won't complain about start times...the Cubs have certainly benefited in the past. The only thing thats difficult is that the games will be going on during my commute home. Luckily my company has Monday as a holiday, so no issues there. Lets sweep and not worry about Games 4 and 5.
  13. Considering that Heyward's defense goes from elite to merely good moving between RF and CF, its going to be interesting with him Schwarber and Zobrist in the OF. That said, I'm sure they will already be adjusting the defense by the 5th or 6th inning. Other than that, nice lineup.
  14. Dusty put 4 lefty relievers on the Nats roster, which is pretty smart considering 4 of the 5 games will likely be started by RHP and the Cubs will probably load the lineup with lefties in those games and then have to replace them later in the game. The thing is though that the Cubs have plenty of quality righties on the bench to replace those LHB with, not to mention Happ and Zobrist are switch hitters
  15. Me too. I'm gonna hug him and kiss him so much as we tumble to the ground, tangled in each other's arms, and you're gonna have to watch. As long as you get him to sign a 10 year league min to come to the north side in that process, I’m cool I assumed that is what the hugging and kissing was for
  16. Yeah. Theo brought up how Wilson has dominated Daniel Murphy (in a v small sample) and has made him look very bad. On a non-analytical level, him making the team over Rondon might give him a nice jolt of confidence. I mean if you look at his pitch data, I don't think much has changed in terms of stuff since coming over. He's just had awful command in general.
  17. Wait what?! Is Rondon injured again? He hasn't been great but I can guarantee he would provide more value than Martin. Probably Wilson too.
  18. Last year for Game 3, the Nationals/Dodgers was in the day and Cubs/Giants at night. If the Cubs won game 3, game 4 of LA/WAS would be the next night. If the Cubs lost, the game would be mid-afternoon, (with Cubs at night). The Cubs lost in 13 innings at like 2 AM et so the Nationals and Dodgers didn't find out until 11pm PT the night before that they were playing the next afternoon. Theo said yesterday, and the Score was previously reporting, that the Cubs told them that late morning today at the latest is when we would know. Yeah this scenario is different because both games are guaranteed already. I was just pointing out that it isn't unprecedented for MLB to announce game times within 24 hours of the game and i wasnt aware of what was being reported.
  19. But they might know that until Sunday night. AL games that day are 2:30 and 7:30 ET. If the AL series split the first two, then they'll know by early evening on Friday. But if Houston and Cleveland win tomorrow, you have to wait until Game 3 is played to know if there's a Game 4. Would they really wait until the night before the game to release the game time for the Cubs? DBacks-Dodgers don't have to worry since they'll be the late game regardless. They wouldn't. We're going to know this morning.
  20. When is the last time the Hawks scored 10 times in a game? Feel like we probably did it against Edmonton in the last handful of years. Either way awesome performance.
  21. Welcome back Saad. Hawks with 4 goals in the first 10 mins of their season. Not bad
