  1. I briefly thought they wouldnt even attempt a throw there.
  2. jesus christ rizzo is slow. I already considered the score tied before he threw the ball.
  3. I'm sure england won't regret missing all these great chances for a 2nd goal. Nope not at all.
  4. So basically instead of getting a lefty, he got possibly the worst pitcher in the bullpen at getting lefties out to face one of the best lefties in baseball. Ouch. That said, Votto was 0-6 lifetime against Otero and 4-13 against Perez. Perhaps its this stat that caused Carl Willis to not question the call to the pen and let Otero enter the game.
  5. I'm being way too picky about Quintana but I'd like to see him pitch deeper into games. He's only pitched more than 6 innings twice in 18 starts this year. I dunno maybe part of it is intentional by the Cubs...it looks like he only threw 86 pitches yesterday.
  6. Rizzo has been sitting a lot lately. I know he’s sucked but previously he’s never left the lineup. He hurt?
  7. I think they started doing it in the last 2-3 years Hee Seop Choi participated back in 2005
  8. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/cubs-javy-baez-kyle-schwarber-fill-half-nl-field-for-mondays-home-run-derby/amp/?__twitter_impression=true Think of all the opposite field singles they will hit!
  9. It seemed obvious Almora was goading the runner on Sunday but I'm not sure Javy was. Looked like he just didn't go hard and assumed the runner would stop. That doesn't seem like Javy, of course. If that's true I won't fault him for it. Everyone has their mental lapses from time to time, and it seems to happen less with Javy than other guys. It just sucks that it happened in a 1 run loss.
  10. I'm sure this was discussed but how is it possible that the Cubs allowed a runner to score from first on a botched pickoff/SB attempt due to a Cubs fielder potentially trying to goad the runner into running home by half assing it to the ball in two consecutive games? I usually trust the Cubs fielding instincts but I'm not sure I agree with the strategy there if it was intentional. (but probably would be praising it if it worked out either time)
  11. [expletive] I like waking up to see that we won. Oh well offense was due for a bad game and Kyle pitched great. I’ll take that
  12. Ahh yes a pitcher who is 0-26 in his career. Cubs pitching is the perfect remedy for that
  13. Crazy that stupid ass Pence has been a Giant for 2 years longer than he was an Astro. I always think of him as an Astro first
  14. Marlins turn to try to cash in a runner from 3rd with less than 2 outs Edit: Brewers lose
  15. I still overwhelmingly think we will win the division but scary question: if it was today, who do you trust on the Cubs to start a 1 game playoff? Try to get 5 out of Lester then go Cishek, Edwards, Strop, Morrow? Edit: other thought - if the Cubs won the WC the Brewers almost certainly end up as the 1 seed. Would love to smack down the Brewers like we did the Cardinals
  16. Hah Starlin just went deep on Hader to tie up the Brewers Edit: and they go back to back to take the lead. Good work Hader
  17. This almost feels like the PED era again with people in their 30s having career years and making the All-Star game. Crawford (31) Markakis (34) Kemp (33) Ramos (31) Mooreland (32) Brantley (31) Choo (36) Happ (35) Players in their 30s make it all the time but all these guys are either making their first All-Star team, having a resurgence after some down seasons or are making some sort of leap at a late age.
  18. Right now Lester is scheduled to pitch Friday (if they skip Chatwood with the off day Thursday) or Saturday. So Lester likely wont be on the team and be replaced since he’s on either 2 or 3 days rest for the all star game. Which is good, let him go and enjoy the festivities if he wants but save some bullets and get more rest. The only pitchers who are replaced are the ones that start on Sunday. Given that Tuesday would be his bullpen day he was almost certainly be available to give an inning if he is asked
  19. Damn no Schwarber in the final vote. He deserves to at least be in the final 5
