  1. Theo is so sneaky that the Cubs aren't even being mentioned among the 5-6 teams that are in on Harper.
  2. The only real arguments I can think of against this are: 1) Something changed with how much payroll the Ricketts were willing to give Theo between the time he signed Yu and now 2) Something changed regarding the FO's view of signing Harper (not that I agree just throwing it out there).
  3. Really sucks to lose him, but at the same time I'm happy for the guy. Guys been in the coaching game for over 30 years and for at least the last ~10-15 years or so was known as one of the best defensive coaches out there. Did not get any head coaching consideration after leading those dominant 49ers defenses, still did not get any consideration after considerably improving a talentless Bears defense (not sure how much credit he should get for leading a bottom 15 defense but the talent was pretty barren). Now he finally gets his shot.
  4. So the Broncos job is down to Fangio and Munchak with Fangio appearing to be the leader. With that, we get this bit of news:
  5. I'm sure their long passionate statements of disappointment during the owner q&a sessions will persuade Tom to open up the pocket books.
  6. The one miss was against the Rams and it was a fairly big miss because it would have brought it back to a 1 possession game with like 10 mins left. But yeah in general kickers seem to be really lights out against us, even the 50+ yard kicks always seem to find their way through
  7. 06 against Arizona, they missed a ~35ish yard FG with under a minute left that would have given the Cardinals the lead. Of course that's 12 years ago but that just popped in my head when I read your question.
  8. It's ridiculous that this is being discussed. Guy admits he has had anxiety attacks and all the sudden he has an injury and some people are saying the guy who threw a trick pass touchdown on 4th down in the Super Bowl last year is having a panic attack. I realize that a) the injury was rather mysterious and b) panic attack occurrences aren't always related to the magnitude of a given situation but still, there is no reason to believe that Burton and the Bears are lying about this.
  9. Okay, uh huh, uh huh, WHAT!?!? [tweet] [/tweet] Me telling people to kill themselves is just a slang term I use. Just like me not knowing what consent means is slang for 'i know what consent means'
  10. How much could the Bears really get for Howard? A 4th?
  11. Also strangely enough he graded relatively well overall with PFF and rather poorly with ESPN's QBR yesterday when season long its been the exact opposite.
  12. Yea I mean this is the kind of stat that makes this loss so crushing. If you would've told me Sunday morning that Mitch would throw for 300 yards and 0 INTs, and that the Bears would pick off Foles twice and outgain the Eagles in total yards, I would've been pretty confident in a Bears win. The Bears' injuries were really critical (unfortunately); far more than I think the non-Bears national media is acknowledging. The Eagles picked on McManis all afternoon, I heard Deon Bush's name way too many times for my liking, and not having Trey Burton really seemed to push the Bears' passing offense entirely to the sidelines. Like, I love how tall Shaheen is and how dangerous he can be in the redzone and all that, but...man, that just felt like a huge downgrade yesterday. Yeah that one 3rd down where Shaheen had the ball in the open field with 1 defender made me realize that having Burton's speed and agility could have kept the chains moving in a critical spot. And that's just the most obvious spot, ignoring like you said how limited the offense looked without a legitimate pass catching TE in there.
  13. Yeah but why potentially throw the offense off its rhythm to avoid a strategy that statistically has if anything a positive effect on a teams chances of making a FG? The icing thing doesn't bother me one bit because it simply does not have any sort of statistical proof that it works. Maybe Parkey whose confidence was probably already shaky due to his failures this year is more likely to get in his own head when iced than someone like Robbie Gould, but its impossible to know for sure.
  14. Watching replays on the 4th down TD to Tate. It kills me that if McManis had just slightly better positioning, he could have easily reached out and batted the pass away before it got to Tate. Another one that hurts is the Bears 2 point attempt. It actually looks like Gabriel had a window to make it in, but it closes in a hurry and I'm not sure exactly what happened but it looked like if he lowered his head and veered slightly to the right he could have crossed the goal line. So many what if's in this one.
  15. Can't make this horsefeathers up [bbvideo=560,315]https://www.instagram.com/p/BsUL8LGAkUy/?utm_source=ig_embed[/bbvideo] Edit: I'm sure its a perfectly reasonable way for a kicker to practice accuracy but still
  16. He clanked an XP against the Vikings in Week 17 as well so yeah 6
  17. Is it just me or did the tip really not seem to affect the outcome of the kick or if anything help keep it from going even farther wide left?
  18. Was just coming to post that. Still should have hit it
  19. Second point is key, all those open looks in the 4th quarter where there in the first half. After thinking about it I think his game plan was to go Conservative much of the game and either you are winning and keep going (like they did against the Rams and 49ers) or you open it up and maybe catch the opponent off guard. The broadcast pointed out how on one of those big plays late they faked a screen pass which they had been doing all game, and the defense bit and let the receiver get space to make a long play. In another, the DB bit on a fake thinking Robinson was running a hook route and instead he studdered and went back up field and caught a deep ball. The DB had seen that look all day and tried to jump it for an INT but ended up burned. That said, the Bears were the better team, the better defense, probably better offense and they were at home. I would have loved to have seen Nagy have more confidence in his offense and just light up a weak secondary from the start. When your special teams is mediocre and your kicker is beyond bad and you are vastly better you don’t want to put yourself in a position to lose like that. Nagy has proven to be a good coach and offensive mind but has had a habit of going super conservative at times (the chiefs playoff game last year, packers game, the rams and 49ers games even though they won). I’d like to see him trust his offense more. I get that they have an amazing defense and he wants to play to that but I think he goes too far sometimes* * - I don’t know anything about football
  20. Nope. Made 3 kicks. Should have made the 4th and deserves blame but this is a collective loss. Defense, offense, ST. I don’t really blame the defense. Allowed 300 yards and certainly wasn’t their best game but it was more than good enough for the win. The Eagles 2 TD drives involves 52 yards of penalties and a 30 yard punt to start near midfield. Not saying that the defense isn’t at fault for the penalties or allowing the Eagles to drive the rest of the way after the bad punt but it’s not as egregious as allowing them to gash their way to 80 yard TD drives
  21. maybe - "runs" are very short in the NFL and must be consistently supported with good drafting. Not having a 1st the next 2 drafts puts us in a bit of a disadvantage in that regard, though certainly surmountable. The bears are going to have some tough decisions coming up with guys like Adrian Amos and Eddie Goldman becoming FAs after next year and obviously Mitch's looming extension.
  22. now im starting to go back through the things that could have gone our way leading to a win. 3 biggest ones were Amos keeping us on the field, the 2 point conversion coming up just short, and the weird replay review that if went our way could have easily been a TD before the half. One final note before I go and cry - Allen Robinson really came up big today and was worth everything we paid him for that performance.
  23. You keep saying this like a team of professional athletes would EVER lose a game on purpose. Do you understand that backup players are generally less good than the players who start? But yeah its a ridiculous argument because i wanted the bears to win regardless last week. But I am fine with pointing out that we easily could have played the vikings today and the vikings suck and we would have beaten them easily
  24. we would have beaten the vikings easily
  25. the wound is fresh but that has to be one of the 2-3 most painful sports defeats in my life. Obviously bigger games were lost but the way this was lost was just unbelievably bad. this horsefeathering HURTS man
